The Shure BLX4R Wireless Receiver 542-572 MHzis a single-channel wireless receiver compatible with the BLX1 bodypack transmitter and BLX2 handheld transmitters. It features a rugged metal chassis and, using the included hardware, can be rackmounted with the two removable antennas positioned on the front of the rack—for optimal signal reception in A/V installations and sound-reinforcement applications.

The BLX4R offers one-touch QuickScan frequency selection to quickly search 123 available frequencies and locate a clean RF channel in case of interference. It also employs microprocessor-controlled diversity technology to reduce dropouts. BLX systems allow up to 12 mic channels to operate simultaneously in each frequency band, at a range up to 300'.

The LCD display shows group and channel settings, and allows you to meter audio level and signal strength. An LED indicator even lets you keep an eye on the transmitter's remaining battery life. The unit offers 1/4" and XLR connectors with adjustable output level for flexible connectivity to PA systems and mixing boards.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it compatible with the old Sony UTX-B2 Transmitter? If not, Are there any modern receiver compatible with the Sony UTX-B2 Transmitter? Can these Sony devices be used with Nikon DSLR or Nikon Z cameras?

A: Yes, the URX-P40 receiver is backwards compatible for use with an older UTX-B2 transmitter as long as both components operate within the same frequency band. The receiver can be used with Nikon DSLR or Z cameras

Q: 2. Does this newer receiver work with the previous gen UTX-B03 transmitter? I need to add a 2nd receiver to my kit.

A: Yes, this URX-P40 receiver will work with the previous generation UTX-B03 transmitter as long as they both operate on the same frequency band.

Q: 3. If utilizing this receiver with a Sony FX-3 and the SMAD-P5 and using two transmitters, is the system still true diversity? Also, is auto gain control the only option with the SMAD-P5 and the FX-3?

A: Yes, the Sony URX-P41D Dual-Channel Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver still uses true diversity reception when receiving audio from two transmitters and connected to the Sony SMAD-P5 Digital MI Shoe Adapter.

Q: 4. Is the SMAD-P5 MI Shoe Adapter included, or a separate purchase?

A: The Sony SMAD-P5 Digital MI Shoe Adapter for UWP-D Series (B&H #SOSMADP5) is not included with the Sony URX-P40 Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver.

Q: 5. Will this work with G4 A-Band (516-558) transmitter?

A: No. For a G4 evolution series transmitter, you would need an EM100 G4 series receiver in the A band. BH #SEEM100G4A.

Q: 6. What is the body length including the antennas?

A: The Sony URX-P40 Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver has a specified height of 70mm or 2 7/8 inches without antennas. The antennas can add up to 5 inches of height, but their lengths vary depending on the frequency range chosen. Lower frequencies mean longer antennas.

Q: 7. Does this model have the digital switch that's on the bottom of the single version?

A: No. I think you are referring to the Analog/Digital switch on the optional SMAD-P5 Digital MI Shoe Adapter (B&H # SOSMADP5) that allows you to mount the Sony URX-P41D Dual-Channel Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver on select Sony camcorders and cameras equipped with the MI shoe to enable cable-free connection for both audio and power.

Q: 8. Will it be possible to pair URX-P03D with 2 URX-P40? Or will it be any upcoming Sony dual Chanel kits?

A: Both of the models indicated are receivers. The new Sony UTX-B40 transmitter can be used with the URX-P03D receivers.

Q: 9. If URX-P40 receiver is backwards compatible for use with an older UTX-B2 Is it legal or not to use in USA the old Sony UTX-B2 Transmitter because it uses the frequencies 638.125-661.875 MHz ? I've heard that using microphones in this range is noy legal anymore. Can someone clarify this?

A: The FCC recently made changes to regulations for use of the 600 MHz band within the United States. Frequencies above 616 MHz are now designated for broadband use and can no longer be used for operating wireless microphones. More details are available here: https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/operation-wireless-microphones

Q: 10. Is this compatible with the 100 g3 if not is there a dual Sennheiser receiver that is?

A: No, the Sennheiser EM-XSW 1 Dual-Channel Stationary Receiver is not compatible for use with Sennheiser EW 100 G3 Series Transmitters. Sennheiser does not offer a dual-channel 100 Series Receiver but two of the single-channel Sennheiser EM 100 G4 Wireless Receivers can be used at the same time and can be mounted side-by side in a single rack space. The EM-XSW 1 Receiver can be used with XS Series transmitters like the Sennheiser SK-XSW-A Bodypack Transmitter - A: 548 to 572 MHz (B&H # SESKXSWA) or handheld transmitters like the Sennheiser SKM 825-XSW-A Handheld Transmitter with e825 Capsule - A: 548 to 572 MHz B&H # SESKM825XSWA), SKM 835-XSW-A Handheld Transmitter with e835 Capsule - A: 548 to 572 MHz( B&H # SESKM835XSWA, or SKM 865-XSW-A Handheld Transmitter with e865 Capsule - A: 548 to 572 MHz (B&H # SESKM865XSWA). A combination of any two of the Sennheiser XS Series Transmitters can be used simultaneously with the EM-XSW 1 Receiver.

[1 RU (1/2 Rack)] I bought this microphone to replace one that I got about a year ago. While that one cost about half as much as the Sure, what did I really save with it only lasting a year. Even though this microphone is Sure's lowest cost wireless microphone, the quality is outstanding. The setup was simply putting the batteries in the microphone and plugging the receiver in and it was ready to go. I'm using it for speaking only and the sound is excellent. When you turn the microphone on and off there is no audible sound. I haven't had it to loose connection with the receiver once. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Sure has been a leading microphone manufacture for as long as I can remember. It's nice to be able to buy something of this quality today.

[6.4 lb] This is a Great product. We Had another wireless systems that had come recommend to our church. But all we had was issue after issue. Even sent it back 3 times to the Manufacture. So we decided to purchase this item and we couldn't be happier it works as advertised and clear vocals with no feed back.
