A truly fast and compact prime, the black Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 25mm f/0.95 Lens MFT Blackfrom Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 25mm f/0.95 Lens MFT Blackis compatible with Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, where it presents a 50mm equivalent focal length. The bright f/0.95 maximum aperture is well-suited to low-light shooting and also offers extensive control over your focus position for shallow depth of field applications. One extra-low dispersion element is incorporated within the lens construction, as well as four extra-high refractive index elements and two high refractive index elements, to limit chromatic aberrations and distortions for a high degree of clarity and sharpness throughout the aperture range. Additionally, optimized lens coatings have been applied to limit lens flare and ghosting.

The physical construction of the lens revolves around its manual focus design, which is complemented by printed depth of field and distance scales for zone focusing techniques. The manual aperture ring also features a click-less design for silent, smooth operation that is beneficial to video recording applications. Additionally, an eleven blade near-circular diaphragm produces a smooth out-of-focus quality when working with selective focus techniques.

Fast f/0.95 maximum aperture is well-suited to low-light shooting applications and also affords extensive control over depth of field.

One extra-low dispersion element, four extra-high refractive index elements, and two high refractive index elements all work to suppress chromatic aberrations and distortions for a high degree of sharpness and even illumination throughout the aperture range.

Optimized lens coatings have been applied to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color neutrality.

Manual focus design is complemented by printed depth of field and distance scales.

Manual click-less aperture ring is smooth and silent during use, making it well-suited to video applications.

An 11-blade near-circular diaphragm contributes a pleasing bokeh quality.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it come with a lens hood? If not any recommendations for one?

A: 43mm generic lens hood will work. Google it.

Q: 2. Is it compatible with Panasonic GX85?

A: Yes it should. Whatever Micro Four Third mount camera should be compatible.

Q: 3. Is this lens compatible with the Panasonic G85?

A: Should be. There are some older Olympus including the original OMD EM-5 that have a clearance issue. I'm using it primarily on the GX-8, but it has been on my EM-5 mk 2.

Q: 4. Is it compatible with Olympus PEN Lite E-PL3, which is a discontinued camera body?

A: The camera has a Micro Four Thirds mount which is compatible with this lens mount.

Q: 5. does this fit gh5?

A: Yes, perfectly. Great lens.

Q: 6. There is quite a price gap between the black and silver versions. Are there any differences other than color between the two?

A: Not that I know of! I know the silver doesn't match silver body from Olympus- PEN-F and OMD's, maybe that's why.

Q: 7. Will focus peaking work with the Olympus OMD EM10?

A: The focus peaking feature on the Olympus OMD EM10, will work with most manual lenses like the: Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 25mm f/0.95 Lens for Micro Four Thirds. The focus peaking does not work with the more "vintage" lenses. It will vary from lens to lens

Q: 8. I think it is a 1.4 lens. At 0.95 it has the same speed as a Nikkor 50mm 1.4. When you stop down from 2.8 to 0.95 the speed changes only 2 stops. did anybody check this?

A: This lens has a maximum aperture of f/0.95.

Q: 9. Compatible with the original EM10?

A: Yes, indeed. I use it all the time with no problems.

Q: 10. will it work on the PEN-F ?

A: This lens works beautifully with my penf. I have never regretted buying this lens.

[f/0.95] A quality lens for the price, sharp images, bright in low light, great DOF. DOF is actually too extreme for some shots, but works well in the right shot. I enjoy these manual controls. I will use this more for stills, and likely stick with my Lumix 12-60 Dual OIS lens for video most of the time. Using this lens makes me more interested in going out to shoot and try interesting shots, and that pushes me to better results.

[1.095 lb] I'm not a professional, but my take on this lens is that it is easy to use, very well built, and is exactly what I needed for the video needs I had. I'm using it with the BMPCC4K and it couldn't be easier to get a great cinematic feel with this lens. It's crisp and the f0.95 makes for some great depth of field transitions and has been great for some good b-roll. Highly recommend, especially for the price.

[43 mm (Front)] With an insanely low f/0.95, I expect to be using this lens a lot. It is fully manual and as a new videographer I realized that the lack of automation would force me to learn the basics. I haven't found them so tough so far.

[1.095 lb] I use a lot of adapted lenses on my Panasonic GH5 mainly for videos. I already have the superstar combo of Metabones Speedbooster .71 and the Sigma 18-35 art lens. Bought my first native MFT lens, the Panasonic 42.5 f1.7 recently. Love it. The size and ease of use for run n gun filming. Was looking for a 25mm for the same reasons. Bought this for the good manual focus I kept reading about as I always use MF for videos and that was a drawback on the Panasonic lenses. The video quality of this lens just blew me away. Fantastic build quality, and smooth functioning focus and aperture rings remind me of the various vintage glasses that I also use. And the phenomenal low light ability of this lens is a HUGE bonus for MFT shooters. I wish Zhongyi make a similar 17.5mm lens. This lens costs a fraction of what the Voigtlander costs and you get a lot for your money. Totally love this lens.

[1.095 lb] I needed a fast prime to go with the kit zoom that came with my new Lumix GX9, and I liked the way this one looked. With manual-only focus and manual-only aperture selection, this is definitely an old school lens, but that's what I was after. It's not the sharpest tool in my kit, and there is some distortion and chromatic aberration, but it's to be expected in such a small, light, fast lens at this price point. And the bragging rights of having an f/0.95 lens are worth it.

[1.095 lb] Lens build is solid and works well. Some focus breathing, but everything else is rad

[f/0.95] i owned the the Olympus 25mm f/1.8 and the Panasonic f/1.4 but i was never happy with the results. i hesitated a long time before deciding to try this Speedmaster. I don't regret it. it produce a more organic and analog look to the image. manual focus is easy, colors and contrasts are impressive. i never tried the Voigtlander nor the Olympus f/1.2 but i don't need to, this lens is what i needed. bonus : the Olympus metal lens cap fits perfectly on it.

[43 mm (Front)] This is a manual lens which I bought on sale. It has an aperture of .95 which makes it a real go-to choice.

[Manual Focus] I use this on a GH5 and I'm impressed. Sharpness at f.95 looks very good, especially center of frame. I was using the Canon 1.8 STM 50mm with a Viltrox EF-M2 lens adapter, which allowed me to stop down to f1.3, but the image I was getting was fairly soft. Bought this to replace it, albeit a bit wider than the 50mm (1.6x crop w/ Viltrox) but the image looks much sharper. Was also impressed with the build quality. It's a compact lens but it has some weight to it. Feels very sturdy and aperture and focus rings turn smoothly with clickless aperture. All and all, I would definitely recommend for someone that may be a little skeptical because of the price. Oh yeah, the little case it ships in is a nice touch, too.

[Manual Focus] Hard to beat for the cost. fast, cheap and in control - even wide open. Paired with GH5 in body stabilizer and 1250 iso I can shoot in places my GH4 could not go.
