Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I know these have a 3.5 mm jack but has anyone had any experience with using these for making wireless PA systems with speakers?

A: The Shure PSM 900 Wireless Personal Monitor System with SE425-CL Earphones would not be recommended for use with speakers, as the beltpack's output impedance is intended for connection to headphones, not a standard line input. A system like B&H # ALSTLTHMK2X would be recommended instead.

Q: 2. Can this receiver be as a IFB to monitor audio?

A: Yes, the Sony URX-P40 Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver does have a 3.5mm headphone jack which can be used to monitor audio, so it could be used for an IFB application.

Q: 3. How many receivers can run off of one transmitter?

A: The answer is an unlimited number. Opposite the way we think about performance wireless systems (a 1:1 ratio of a single microphone being picked up by a single receiver), in personal monitoring what we are doing is broadcasting your desired monitoring mix to any number of people that need to to hear it. The scenario is similar to creating your own short-range radio station in which any number of individuals who want to listen in can do so by tuning in their own personal radio to the same station. Therefore, with PSM 300 (just as with any personal monitoring system) you can use an unlimited number of desired bodypack receivers with attached earphone to listen in to the same transmitter base unit.

Q: 4. What power level goes with which region? The SPECS says, RF Output Power10, 20, 30 mW Note: varies by region . What power level do I get if I live in the US?

A: The RF output for the US region is 30mW.

Q: 5. Is the transmitter and receiver one-to-one paired connection? In other words, can I add another receiver to get the same signal from the same transmitter?

A: The Shure PSM 900 Wireless Personal Monitor System can be expanded for an unlimited number of users by adding additional P9RA+ Wireless Bodypack Receivers that operate on the same frequency band as the transmitter. This particular system operates on the G6: 470 to 506 Hz band so you will need to use B&H # SHP9RAPEMG6. If you want the same headphones that are included with the original system, they are the Shure SE425 Sound Isolating In-Ear Stereo Headphones - Clear (B&H # SHSE425C.L).

Q: 6. How to adjust volume on actual mic

A: At this time, we can not find an available manual for this item to guide you. In general for most wireless systems, there should be a level control option in the menu of the receiver where you would adjust the output signal up or down.

Q: 7. Can you connect two UTX-B40 to one URX-P40? A use case would be two people talking, each person with a UTX-B40 and a URX-P40 connected to a camera that is recording kind of like a discussion/interview between two people

A: No, the URX-P40 is a single-channel receiver that can be used with one transmitter only. For two people, you will want the Sony URX-P03D Dual-Channel Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver - UC14: 470 to 542 MHz (B&H # SOURXP03D14) which is a two-channel receiver that can be used with two transmitters at the same time. We do sell a kit that includes the URX-P03D receiver and two UTX-B40 transmitters with lavalier mics and a case, which is the Sony UWP-D 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System Kit - UC14: 470 to 542 MHz (B&H # SOURXP03D14Q). The URX-P03D can send one signal to the camera with the combined audio from both mics.

Q: 8. Does this newer receiver work with the previous gen UTX-B03 transmitter? I need to add a 2nd receiver to my kit.

A: Yes, this URX-P40 receiver will work with the previous generation UTX-B03 transmitter as long as they both operate on the same frequency band.

Q: 9. Will it be possible to pair URX-P03D with 2 URX-P40? Or will it be any upcoming Sony dual Chanel kits?

A: Both of the models indicated are receivers. The new Sony UTX-B40 transmitter can be used with the URX-P03D receivers.

Q: 10. could I use one transmitter with multiple receiver?, all on the same channelone director and 3 crew videographers

A: The transmitter unit will support an unlimited amount of receivers as long as they match the frequency of the transmitter. For this system, it would be the Shure P3R-H20. See B&H# SHP3RH20 or the P3RA-H20, B&H# SHP3RAH20

[10 mW] works perfect w/ our existing receiver, a lot of echo, that I need to work on, either area too small or speakers just too much for the room. but it has great pick up.

[Analog UHF ] Used with a headset microphone, and also with adapter cord to a keyboard. Transmitter has adjustable gain, so it can be set to match the handheld transmitter also on the same channel. Usually get 10-15 hours per pair of alkaline AA batteries.

[Bodypack] Works just as intended on the Shure BLX1 Wireless Bodypack. I saw other belt clips on different websites but none specified that it was compatible with the BLX1 and had a slightly different shape. So I’m glad I got this. Free shipping too on a product under $3!

[ABS] Order replacement clip when my broke, and I received the replacement before I had to sing again. Awesome quick service.

[ABS] I have 4 of these capable of delivering 4 stereo mixes or 8 mono mixes. They are well built and work exactly as they should. There are more affordable options hitting the market now, but based on my experience these are a solid value for any band wanting more control over their monitoring experience and wishing to eliminate wedges.
