A: The diaphragm does close down when the aperture rig is stopped down. I have to focus at f4 and then stop down to where I want to be because the viewfinder dims so much. Overall, I'm pleased with the lens, it's built very solidly and has performed well so far.

A: The image quality usually doesn't change much when using an adapter and the exposure doesn't either.
