Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can multiple UAP-AC-LITE access points be used as a MESH network?

A: Wireless Uplink allows an access point with a wired data connection to act as a Base Station (Uplink AP) for up to four other access points on 5GHz (or 2.4GHz for some legacy APs), which can extend Wi-Fi coverage to inaccessible areas, as well as pull down any configuration and settings changes from the UniFi Network Controller via the upstream AP. This would act as a mesh.

Q: 2. what is the distance spacing for more than one Access point of this type? Thanks

A: It depends on what it has to go through. 400' line of sight, but drywall, metal, cement, stone, glass etc will all weaken the signal. So it may only work in the room it is in or cover a whole house.

Q: 3. How does unit work for guest once installed

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-PRO UniFi Access Point Enterprise Wi-Fi System BH #UBUAPACPROUS guest network features works like other systems do. You can create a separate SSID for guests, it can be open or have a password and it also allows you to create a greeting pag which is useful if used in a business/retail environment.

Q: 4. Is the power adapter included or is this something we have to buy in addition. Can you clarify which one is true? Hoping it is included.

A: This is accurate. The PoE adaptor comes with the single units. The multipacks do not come with any PoE adaptors.FYI: You will need still a cat5e or cat6 patch cable to go between the PoE and the AP.

Q: 5. How many VLANs does this support?

A: 4 VLANS

Q: 6. Does Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-PRO have POE+ injector included or not?

A: No the injector included is 802.3af standard PoE

Q: 7. Does the 5 pack come with POE adapter?

A: No. The 5-pack doesn't include any PoE injectors. Only single access point packages include them.I use Ubiquiti's switches to provide power over Ethernet instead of using injectors.Make sure to choose the right switch. Some APs require non-standard passive 24 Volt power. Not all Ubiquiti support it, last I checked. I think they have an 8-port or a 16-port that does.

Q: 8. can i install this in my garden(outdoors) mounted on a pole?

A: This AP is not weather rated.

Q: 9. Is this meant for an office environment or is it also safe for home use? Also, I have an office separate from my house. I'm assuming I'd need to get a long PoE cable into the house to plug into here. How long can that cable be, and what type do I need to get?

A: All of Ubiquiti's Unifi products can be used in either a home or office/business setting. As for getting Wi-Fi in your office, wired or wireless solutions are available. The Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-PRO UniFi Access Point Enterprise Wi-Fi System comes included with a power adapter that will supply the unit with PoE via a wall adapter. You do not need to run a long cable to this unit from your PoE router/switch.

Q: 10. Does this unit (UAP-AC-PRO) come with the POE power adapter? I know that the model UAP-AC-PRO-E does not have the POE adapter

A: Yes, this item comes with a 48 V, 0.5 A PoE Gigabit Adapter.

[3] Bought this to replace Netgear AP/Repeater in my boys’ room. Provides a much better signal. Initial setup was easy with phone app. Connected to UniFi controller now.

[22 dBm] I bought 10 of these AP's three and a half years ago. They have been up and running 24/7 ever since. In the past 6 months, two of the AP's had to be replaced (at different times) because they completely died. They were no longer under warranty, so I had to purchase replacements. Still, they do an excellent job on a day to day basis throughout our six building campus.

[3] I have a standard Verizon router/WAP that could not provide a solid signal to more than half my house. Bought this because I have seen them used at my church. I connected it to a switch off my router, passing through the included PoE injector (power supply), to a central point in my house (56' long). Because it uses PoE, it is easy to install almost anywhere...where ever one can run a CAT5 or CAT 6 cable. I had thought about installing a120VAC outlet in a closet to move my Verizon router/WAP closer to the center of the house, but this was a lot easier. Installed and ran the control software. I have some familiarity with such things, and found it to be straight forward to set up. Took maybe 10 minutes. Left my Verizon WAP running and have had no interference issues. More than adequate signal throughout the house. Now I'm a hero :-)

[200] The Ubiquity Access Point UAP-AC-Pro was very easy to set-up with the Cloud Key Gen2 Manager. Set up 4 SSIDs on 2.4 and 5.0 ghz bands. Also selected the best channel for each band, including using the Medium Power setting. Great product, excellent signal levels !

[200] I already had a Unifi product running WiFi at my house, but due to a chimney in the center of the building the signal was spotty in places. I hooked this up and pushed adopt and my WiFi shadow disappeared. I have become a loyal advocate of Ubiquiti products because they are reliable and easy to use.

[9 W] This Access Point makes fully available my cable based network bandwidth. It is 5 times faster than my router based 802.11n radio, and 2 times faster than my more recent 802.11ac device.

[200] Bought two of these to replace two existing consumer wifi routers in the house, one upstairs, one downstairs. Got tired of connecting to the other router when walking around the house. Setup on the UAP-AC-PRO was easier than I expected after reading a number of detailed online reviews. Both APs service the same SSID, and wifi clients switch automatically. Signal is noticeably stronger than previous access points; not only is there good signal in every room in the house, but we can now work in the patio, 40 feet away from the back door. Setting up a guest wifi for a big party was easy. Just one minor comment on the user experience with the Unifi Controller software used to configure the UAP-AC-PRO: The left panel has most of the icons at the upper left hand corner, but some essential functionality is accessed through some more icons located in the lower left hand corner. I went through the upper icons a couple of times without finding what I wanted before realizing there were more icons down in the corner. These icons should all be together to make all the functionality easily discoverable. Bottom line, these are so much better than what I was using before. I'm happy as a clam.

[9 W] So far has been a few weeks, it's been great so far! Immediately saw drastic increase for some wifi devices. Our Samsung TV that was pretty close to the D-Link 802.11n had horrible connection, but with this new Ubiquiti device, it just works perfectly. The new tech must really make a difference. Other great things are the entire Ubiquiti solution we bought is working flawlessly when put all together. We have it all connected: the gateway router + 8 port managed switch + ACPRO + ACMESH + cloud key. It's just amazing really with the seamless hop / hop-back between the access points, and the reporting features and iPhone app are also very cool!
