Distribute a high-resoution 12G-SDI source to Quad-Link SDI equipment with the Blackmagic Teranex Mini 12G-SDI to Quad SDI Converterfrom Blackmagic Design. Housed in a low-profile enclosure, this Teranex Mini Converter seamlessly fits in studio and post-production workflows or anywhere with multiple displays or a video wall design. The unit features one 12G-SDI input, one 12G-SDI loop output, and four 3G-SDI distribution outputs that support multirate auto-switching between DCI 4K, UHD 4K, HD, and SD sources and destinations. The unit also supports up to 16 channels of broadcast-quality 24-bit, 48 kHz audio.

Connecting the unit via Ethernet enables you to use the included control software to make adjustments to fit your needs, as well as power the unit via PoE (Power-over-Ethernet). DIP switch controls and a USB configuration port are also available on the front panel.

A: Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI 12G currently has a one frame delay when Instant Lock is turned OFF but we are looking into doing an update in the future which will result in a few lines of delay only. If the Instant Lock feature is turned ON, the delay could be up to 2 frames.

Q: 2. Does this model have audio delay to adjust for lip sync?

A: No there are no delay adjustments.

Q: 3. Can this adapter convert 8K signal from 4x 12G-SDI to single HDMI 2.1 output?

A: No. It used 4 HDMI connections.

A: This mini converter does not work that way. It only converts HDMI to SDI. Same resolution and frame rate.

Q: 9. I'm trying to find more information regarding the Teranex Mini Analog to SDI converter and its output format. Specifically, when converting from an SD analog source to HD, what output is it producing at what frame rate? Is the HD output progressive scan or interlaced? How does it handle the de-interlacing of the analog SD source? How does it handle aspect ratio conversion? Does it convert 29.97 fps interlaced material to 59.94 fps progressive scan to maintain proper motion cadence? When capturing from an analog tape, how does it handle signal drop out or control track issues?

A: All conversations will be the same frame rate and scan. There is no rate conversion or deinterlace. Those functions are available in the Teranex AV product. You should use a time base corrector or TBC to stabilize analog tapes prior to conversion.

Q: 10. Can I use this to send XLR over Fiber Optical?

A: There needs to be an HDMI signal present first, but then yes.

[SDI: 16-Channel] This unit over the DAC-70 is a toss up but you can't power the DAC-70 with PoE but you have an HDMI loop out with the DAC-70, but it doenst have XLR/ AES outs. I'd give the Teranex Mini 10 stars if it had a HDMI loop out. 5

[0 to 90%] I use this product to implement LUT's between my Blackmagic card and my projector. As colorist it's a great LUT BOX, this one is cheap and easy to use. You can bypass the LUT on SDI output to go on a vectorscope for example. You can preload 2 LUTs into the Ternax and switch between them easily. It's piloted via RJ45. 5
