Connect Quad-Link SDI sources to 12G-SDI equipment with the Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini Quad SDI to SDI 12G Converter. Housed in a low-profile sleek black enclosure, this Teranex Mini Converter fits in studio and post-production workflows without disrupting the decor. While the functionality of this unit may be obvious, connecting the unit via Ethernet enables you to use the included control software to complete control and make adjustments to fit your needs. As an additional option, a front panel controller with a built-in confidence monitor can be purchased separately. DIP switch controls are also available behind the front panel flap.

Quad-Link and 12G-SDI protocols support high resolution video including DCI and UHD 4K as well as HD and SD signals. Automatic input signal detection acknowledges the signal resolution and configures the input accordingly. 24-bit 48 kHz broadcast-quality audio is supported.

A: No, the analog audio ports are inputs only for embedding external analog audio.

Q: 2. What's the difference between the teranex mini and Blackmagic's other converters like the mini and micro converters?

A: These are more meant to be permantely installed in an IDF or rack instead of the micro converters which are more for behind monitors, on carts etc. They can also be remotely controlled via ethernet while the simple micro converters cannot.

A: You will need to feed an SDI video signal in order to embed audio.

A: No there are no delay adjustments.

A: You can connect the extended or mirrored desktop into this converter via HDMI and connect an SDI monitor to the output if you wish.

Q: 9. I am wanting to convert a 4K video feed from a ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K to 1080p HDMI out. I am trying to connect to a Epiphan Webcaster X2. Will this Teranex be able to convert the 4K SDI out to 1080p HDMI?

A: That is not possible as this does not do scaling.

Q: 10. Update previous question, Can 3D luts use separately?

A: There are 2 LUTS which may be used but only one applied at a time.

[1.3 lb / 580 g] I use this product to implement LUT's between my Blackmagic card and my projector. As colorist it's a great LUT BOX, this one is cheap and easy to use. You can bypass the LUT on SDI output to go on a vectorscope for example. You can preload 2 LUTs into the Ternax and switch between them easily. It's piloted via RJ45. 5

[1.935 lb] This unit over the DAC-70 is a toss up but you can't power the DAC-70 with PoE but you have an HDMI loop out with the DAC-70, but it doenst have XLR/ AES outs. I'd give the Teranex Mini 10 stars if it had a HDMI loop out. 5

[YUV, RGB] works as described, I had to get four older PTZ cameras (Sony EVI-D100) to work with a Atem 1 m/e and this did the trick to get it functional. I had to use one teranek converter per camera 5

[2 x BNC 12G-SDI] controllable levels and details over the network. I found this unit doesn't care if it's connected to an HDMI end point or DVI. Works every time. 5

[90-240 VAC] The device is improved in a number of ways over the previous generation. It's smaller, feels stronger, and has a threaded locking power supply port. It is a little awkward that you have to add your own SFP module, which is not exactly immediately clear, but it does keep the cost quite low for anyone needing only 1080 resolution. The 12G stuff makes this product more expensive than its 4k predecessor, so that's a drawback. But, having bi-directional function on these is a lifesaver in all sorts of situations - not the least of which is sending a confidence monitor signal to any given camera position, which really helps in engineering live events. 5
