The Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod is a three-section support that replaces the 055XPROB tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50%, and its load capacity by 4.4 lb over its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use a Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Head on this tripod with R6 and Sigma 150-600?

A: Absolutely! This would make an incredibly stiff and strong choice for the WH200 (or any gimbal, really).

Q: 2. Are these two the same product, where one is on sale? a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1034143-REG target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1034143-REG/a

A: yes, the products are the same. This is a B&H kit where they are selling the two separate items together, while the other one is the actual Manfrotto kit that comes together in one box.

Q: 3. Can I set this tripod up in about six or seven inches of water? Will the water ruin the legs and their mechanisms?

A: I would suspect that there would be no damage if it were thoroughly dried. Unless it is salt water which leaves corrosive residue. I simply use plastic trash bags over each leg to keep them dry, no issues then. I extend lower leg all the way and adjust upper one until level etc.

Q: 4. how much does the 055XPROB weigh? how much does the 055CXPRO3 weigh?

A: The specs on this website says 5.5 lbs for the 055CXPR03

Q: 5. Will this work with a Toyo 4x5 camera?

A: Yes, this setup will work with a Toyo 4x5.

Q: 6. Does the 327RC2 work with MT055XPRO3?

A: Yes it would work perfect

Q: 7. Can you use this on a dolly? Which dolly is recommended?

A: I found this online: The 028B is compatible with the 181B dolly.

Q: 8. What is the Black Plastic Removable Clip for? Instructions say it is for tightening the locks, but I don't see how? They did include what looks like a small metal torx wrench which I think performs that function?

A: The plastic clip has a raised round section that works like a socket. You put that on the back side of the flip lock to tighten or loosen it.

Q: 9. Hi, can I use Sachtler Ace XL Fluid Head (75mm Bowl) on this tripod?

A: No. You will need a bowl to flat adapter.

Q: 10. Will the 028B Triman tripod support the Manfrotto MVH 502AH and MHXPRO-3W video heads?

A: Yes, the 028B Triman can easily support either head.

[3/8"-16 Male] Solid, tall, and heavy. I give it 5 stars because it's what I wanted. Solid vs weight, I want solid.

[Aluminum] After using my old 3011 for quite a few years it was time for a new tripod have to say the high standards are still high.
Tried the 475 right out of the box the geared head is just what I expected.
Its a bit on the heavy side but solid as a rock and very versatile most of my work is out side in the winter in Alaska I had to get a bigger sled.
Works well in the cold the adjustment locks along with all other adjustments are easy to operate with gloves.
One of my concerns with the plastic looking locks breaking in the extreme cold (below -35),they hold up on my other Manfrotto products.

[Yes] I bought this for real estate photography so I can have the stability and extra height with the lever to increase height to use with the arc Swiss d4 gear head. This tripod will last for years and worth the dollars. It’s not too heavy and feels durable.

[Flip Lock] I've owned Manfrotto products for years and have been very happy with them. I recently decided to upgrade my current, smaller, lighter, carbon fiber tripod with something a little more sturdy. I discovered my moon shots, no matter how I shot them, were not crisp and sharp. They were ok.... but ok wasn't getting it. Using Canon's new 50MP 5DS and a 300mm f.28 should have produced some spectacular images. Using the tripod and a wireless remote to fire the camera and locking the mirror up still didn't do it, so I have to surmize the culprit was the tripod. Turns out is was. Now I grant you, the 475B is a beast. It is heavy. It is cumbersome. It is metal. It has no strap and requires two-hands to operate the crank. BUT... it's as rock-solid as a tripod and be, and, although I still use the smaller one for fairly routine stuff, when I want rock solid images from a distance, this is the tripod for the job.

[Aluminum] I am using this tripod to hold a 90mm widefield refractor on a TeleVue Cradle. All my other tripods shook the view whenever I touched the focus. This tripod is a bit beefier than all the previous yet still light enough to carry even when Telescope Mounted. I might not want to carry it on a 5 mile hike but other than that this thing is perfect for my use.

[Yes] I have two sets of these legs- they're heavy, but they stay put when set up and provid stability for large loads.

[Aluminum] When I was a young photographer I had a cool old dude at a local camera store who would always 'TRY' and steer me in the right direction when I was making new purchases. One of his early recommendations was to buy a QUALITY tripod, and not one of the bargain brands I had my eye on [*couch* Slick]. So I saved for months and bought my first pro-grade set of legs which really hurt at the time cost-wise, but ended up being my go-to rig for over 20 years to follow.

That first set of sticks was then labeled Bogen 3036, which is now the MUCH improved over the years Manfrotto 475B. Since those early years, I have owned and still own many, many different sets of tripods. Gitzo, Manfrotto, no-name brands for very specific purposes, etc. But I recently had a shoot come up that required some very specific needs, I was at a loss with my current options. Doing my research I stumbled upon the 475B... and it turned out to be a direct replacement for my beloved 3036 of long ago. 10 minutes into my shoot I remembered what I loved about this design. It's the perfect 99% of the time tripod for my work. Read the spec's, these are the gold standard of commercial photography legs. Buy with confidence, as B&H has been the go-to shop for decades!

[Aluminum] I purchased the Manfrotto 475B tripod to use with my APM 100mm binoculars. The binoculars and head weigh more than 18 pounds so I needed a robust stable tripod. The Manfrotto 475B delivers what it promises. The tripod easily supports my binocular setup even with fully extended legs and column. I use the binoculars primarily for astronomical viewing so there is a lot of looking up. The geared column makes very easy to get the binocular eyepieces to a comfortable viewing position for both while seated in my observing chair or standing. The tripod remains stable even while focusing the binoculars which is big plus for me. I would recommend this tripod to anyone who needs a stable platform for big binoculars
