The Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a 4-section support that replaces the 055CXPRO4 tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its carbon fiber legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50% compared to its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link 3/8"-16 attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector via a compatible arm. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Q: 1. I'm going to buy one mor tripod.I have the opportunity to purchase manfrotto 055cxpro3 or manfrotto mt055cxpro3.What are the benefits of the newer tripod (manfrotto mt055cxpro3)?Thanks in advanceGershon

A: I purchased the MT055CXPRO4 because of the Height that it goes to. I am using it for Hunting with my bigger Bino's on it and sometimes you have to stand up to see over Bushes or through Trees. The Carbon Fiber is a little bit Lighter to pack in and out then the steel Manfroto I used to carry. That is why I bought it. Hope this helps in your decision. Tim

Q: 2. I'm going to buy one mor tripod.I have the opportunity to purchase manfrotto 055cxpro3 or manfrotto mt055cxpro3.What are the benefits of the newer tripod (manfrotto mt055cxpro3)?Thanks in advanceGershon

A: Don't know. The plate may be larger on one.

Q: 3. Will the RRS BH-55 work on this tripod, given that the diameter of the ball-head is larger than the diameter of the tripod plate?

A: Yes, this ballhead will work though it has a larger diameter.

Q: 4. Is this a grey market or authentic Manfrotto and also is B&H an authorized dealer of Manfrotto products? Can the extended warranty be purchased for this item? Thank you so much. Charlotte

A: This tripod is only Manfrotto USA product with a Limited 6-Month Warranty, Extendable to 10 Years with Product Registration.

Q: 5. I need a good stable, travel tripod for wild life photog. I currently have a Nikon D800e with Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens and Manfrotto/Bogen 3421 gimbal. I am also 5'7 and cannot bend forward for any length of time so tripod needs to be tall enough with very little center column extension. I typically shoot beyond 500mm on my lens. Will this tripod excel for me or is there another model? Thank you.

A: I purchased this tripod at the end of February and have been totally happy with the decision. It is a very stable tripod. I have used it with my Canon 70-200L lens and it has worked very well. I am not familiar with the gimble support you mentioned but I think the tripod would work well for you. When spreading the legs out it takes a little practice to get the hang of it. I have found that you need to back off the legs slightly to get the leg latches to release in order to spread the legs to the next position. If you purchase the four section leg model you should have more than enough height without extending the center column. The tripod is very light and easy to carry in the field. With your big lenses I might suggest that you hang your camera bag from the built in hanger for additional stability although I have not found this to be a problem. The tripod is very stable by itself. As I also own one of Manfrotto's professional studio tripods (which is quite heavy) I have found this to be an exceptional tripod for the field and carrying to various sites. You will not be disappointed with this tripod. Construction is rugged and will hold up well in the field. I hope this helps you.Jim

Q: 6. Is the folded length of 25.3 with or without the head attached?

A: That head is with the head attached. If you look at the listing for the tripod alone, you will see a folded length of 21.3 (54 cm).

Q: 7. is it possible to remove the center column but still have a tripod head?Im hoping there is some sort of attachment i can add, in order to do this.

A: It is easy to remove but you need the column to hold your head. The only time the column needs to be moved is if you widen the stance, then I pull the column and replace it perpendicular instead of horizontally. I have nearly 20 years of rough usage of mine. This allows an extremely low macro stance. The versatility of this tripods allows your camera a solid footing in the most difficult terrain.

Q: 8. Spikes or rubber feet?

A: The Manfrotto Retractable Spiked Foot Set (3), BH # MA160SPK3 would be a compatible set for the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4. https://bhpho.to/3INusul

Q: 9. There are no reviews of this item. How new is it to the market?

A: Neither one of the products in this kit is new. The MT055CXPRO4 legs came out in 2014 and the 468MGRC2 head is well over a decade old. This appears to be a new kit that B&H has put together, which is why it looks like a new product.

Q: 10. What is the exact width of this tripod? I'm guessing about 5 across but I want to be sure so I select the correct sized bag. I'm looking at the Oben TB-20 padded bag (B&H # OBTB20) as a decent choice.

A: It is a little over 5 . I don't know if this tripod will fit in the Oben bag. I purchased the Manfrotto bag.

[3/8"-16 Male] I recently added the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod to my collection, and it’s already proving to be an excellent choice, especially when traveling. Having used the MT055CXPRO3 extensively, I find that the MT055CXPRO4 maintains all the robust stability and build quality I’ve come to expect from Manfrotto, while adding a few distinct advantages.
The most noticeable improvement is the portability. The MT055CXPRO4’s four-section design allows it to fold down to a shorter length compared to the MT055CXPRO3, making it easier to pack and carry on location. Despite this compact form factor, it doesn’t sacrifice any sturdiness, and the carbon fiber construction keeps it incredibly lightweight without compromising strength.
The MT055CXPRO4 also features the versatile 90-degree center column mechanism that I appreciate in the MT055CXPRO3, allowing for quick horizontal and vertical adjustments. The flip-locks are smooth yet secure, making setup and adjustments quick and hassle-free.
In summary, the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 is an ideal choice for photographers who need the stability of a high-quality tripod but prefer a more travel-friendly option. The improved folded length makes all the difference, and for anyone familiar with the MT055CXPRO3, the MT055CXPRO4 offers that same reliability with enhanced portability. Highly recommended for photographers on the go!

[Carbon Fiber] Very well built equipment. The head is a serious thing- there is weight to it, but sturdy. Not something you want to take hiking, but for Real Estate photography, it is perfect. The tripod is awesome, but watch out for those snaps... they will pinch you good. I'm very impressed with the total quality.

[Yes] For years I have used inferior tripods, this one is very sturdy and stable so pictures are sharp, not blurry. Quick to set up and just what I was looking for. I shopped in person and was not able to find one that was sturdy. After looking at many reviews, checking specifications and a few reliable referrals I purchased this one and am glad I did. It is fairly expensive but it should last for many years. I would recommend it to those who might have a slightly heavier camera 10-15 pounds this works good. I haven't tried it with my telephoto lens yet but from the experience so far it will perform as I expect. Using Nikon 810 and very happy with this purchase.

[3/8"-16 Male] I am very happy with my Manfrotto tripod, extremely stable, excellent ball head with quick release connector plate, bubble levels for the tripod as well as for the camera are critical for good landscape sunset sunrise photos, very well made, the carbon fiber keeps the weight down on this beefy tripod, the horizontal capability of the center post allows me to get the camera into tough position for shooting macro from many points of view, excellent price and value. Very pleased with this purchase.
