A: The LM100 is an impedance matching cable, low to high, while the other is not. If you are connecting to a line level input you will need the impedance matching cable, if you are connecting to a mic level input you will use the less expensive XLR to TRS cable.

In addition the mic you connect must be dynamic, or battery powered. The phone will not provide any power to the mic.
