[Daylight] I am a wedding Videographer in Australia, and shoot on GH5 platforms, these cameras are not the best low light camera, so lighting is very important, B&H was super quick posting these out to me within 3-4 days I had at my doorstep.

[Daylight] This is my second Boltzen B-30. I bought the first one for a specific night shoot where I needed a battery powered long throw light to work with my other softer LEDs. I liked it so well I bought the second one.

I use the FP970 (large size) battery and have never run it down on a shoot. The light is solid, metal, well built. It has a longer throw and smaller spot than I expected, which is good. I can put on the difuser (comes with the kit along with CTO disc as well) and have a soft light good enough for portraits.

The barn doors cut the light nicely but you don't get a sharp shadow as with a typical tungsten fresnel like the Arri. However, I also have a Litepanels LED fresnel, and the shadow is very close in terms of the edge it can make. The Litepanels cost about 4 times as much and would require purchase of a large V-mount battery and charger if I wanted to use it outdoors at night.


To spot and flood the light you push or pull the front ring, rather than turn a knob. It works fine. To add the diffuser or 3200K filter, you unscrew the barn door ring, quick and easy to do.

Because I use the larger battery I have to remove it before folding the bracket down to store the light it its case, but I never leave batteries on anyway. If you do then you could use the smaller batteries. The case is included as well as cord and power supply. Batteries and charger are not included, but I bought two Neewer batteries with charger for around $75. They work as well as any of the other NP style batteries I have. On both lights it takes some pressure to put on and remove the battery but that will probably loosen up a bit with time. I've found that always seems to be the case with third party cheaper batteries.

[Daylight] I use these lights as background, back, or fill lights - mostly for corporate talking-head stuff, but I've also used them for product videos, and some structured b-roll. While these certainly aren't the highest quality in terms of robustness and durability (mostly plastic) they are super lightweight, well made, the CRI is great, and they are really user-friendly. I HIGHLY recommend these lights if you're looking for a solid, punchy LED light on a budget.

[Yes] Amazing power output for the price. Decent flood to spot spread. Although I wish it were wider and narrower on both ends, still very functional and definitely spreads the light (see power difference in photo). LED power indicator on back says it can go from 1% to 100%, I'd think it more realistic to say 15% to 100%. Falloff at edges of beam is nice. Some rainbow fringing, but not much. That varies with the zoom amount. I'd call it acceptable. Build is decent. SUPER lightweight. Works with Sony NP batteries which is awesome. Barn doors seem solid though not of much use except to prevent lens flare: they do not shape the light at all. Case is useful but you have to take the yoke off every time to pack it. Easy, but you will lose the fiber washers. Doubt that will matter. Do note that the fan DOES make noise. It's quiet, yes. But in a dead silent interview room and a good mic, you will hear it. Not much louder than an average/quiet computer fan. CAME-TV does make a 30w unit with no fan and it is dead silent. Overall a very worthwhile addition to an LED light kit.

[5600K] I always use this on my set, from chroma work, interviews, short films. Love how it last a very long time with V-mount batteries. I use Rolux V-mount and works great with it.
