The Hawke Sport Optics 2-7x32 Vantage Riflescope 30/30 Reticlerepresents a basic all-purpose scope that is ideal for most close and mid-range uses. Its 11-layer fully multi-coated optics maximizes light transmission and helps off-set the smaller 32mm objective to produce bright and clear images in most lighting conditions. The low minimum magnification allows you to use the scope with a reflex-scope both-eyes-open technique for fast target acquisition and tracking at close to mid-ranges. Complementing the performance of the scope is a lightweight and durable anodized aluminum housing with a 1" one-piece maintube that is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof. Threads on the ocular and objective provide a solid mounting point for optional accessories such as sun shades.

Q: 1. Can it be converted to side mount (like Jobu)?

A: So that we may best assist you, please email us at prophoto@bhphoto.com.

Q: 2. What lens plate do I need to order for a Tamron 150-600 G2?

A: You do not need to order any plate. The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di USD G2 comes with a tripod collar with a built-in Arca-Swiss foot that will slip right into the shoe on the head. If you have other tripod plates, and so that we may best assist you, please email us at prophoto@bhphoto.com.

Q: 3. Can you attach Wimberley F-9 Flash Bracket for Wimberley Head Version II to the side of this style Gimbal head?

A: Yes, it is compatible with the Oben gimbal head.

Q: 4. Are the twist lock knobs metal or plastic ?

A: The twist lock knobs on the Oben GH-30 Gimbal Head are made of a hardened plastic.

Q: 5. How does it mount on a tripod with a 1/4" bolt?

A: If you have a 1/4" mounting screw on a tripod, you would need a 1/4" to 3/8" bushing: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/769749-REG/Oben_OB_1039_3_8_16_to_1_4_20_Reducer.html

Q: 6. What release plate does this come with, and how do I order extra to avoid the problems noted by commenter? Oben website says this but does not have model info on duplicate plates: "rca-Type Quick Release The Arca-type quick-release plate allows you to quickly mount your camera and lens to the gimbal head. Attach quick-release plates to multiple setups to make swapping cameras and lenses a breeze. The included plate is designed with security pins that prevent it from accidentally slipping off the mounting platform.

A: The Oben QR-20 Quick Release Plate, https://bhpho.to/2fga1qi would be the quick release plate that will fit on the GH-30, and also for a long lens foot, the Oben QR-53 Long Lens Quick Release Plate (5.3") https://bhpho.to/2M3EZF3 . It seems like the Arca type mount on an Oben device is a little big for the universal Arca type, and consequently choosing an Oben quick release plate has a better chance at a tight fit.

Q: 7. What is the tilt degree +/- range for this gimbal?

A: Tilt degree depends on camera/lens combo. Longer lenses and cameras with auxiliary batteries will reduce the vertical travel. My typical set up is with a Canon 60D and a Sigma 150-600 zoom, usually at full 600mm range. I see no limits to this combination. I did, however, purchase an Arca-Swiss baseplate from Sunway Photo to add the additional slide to accommodate the longer lens and get the balance back.

Q: 8. Where can I find the trolley pictured? Will the other options (Orca and Sachtler) work with this bag?

A: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1115067-REG/sachtler_sa1001_snaplock_trolley_system.html/pageID/accessory The trolley is listed in the accessories on the product page.

Q: 9. Why is the 75mm half ball not removable? It appears to have easily accessible mounting screws. With the half-ball removed, can the head be attached to the Sirui R2204 Carbon Fiber Tripod?

A: The Sirui BCH-20 Video Head has a 75mm ball base that is not removeable. The head is not a flat base and would not work with the Sirui R2204 Carbon Fiber tripod. A tripod model with a 75mm bowl that would work with the BCH-20 head. Benro Mammoth 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod BH #BETMTH44C

Q: 10. How many inches long is the quick release plate? Is a longer one available?

A: The included quick release plat is approximately 2 long. Here is a longer one. 3.6 x 1.5 x 0.5 (92 x 38 x 13 mm) Really Right Stuff L84 Multi-Use Fore-Aft Plate with 1/4 -20 Screw B&H # REL84PLATE.

[32 mm] Bought this for my Ruger Scout Rifle in 350 Legend. Installed without issues. Glass is clear and crisp at 100 yds. Magnification is solid. This definitely punches above its weight class! Especially when compared to other scopes costing 20-30% more.

[1"] This is an excellent scout optic. It fills that purpose perfectly. I put it on my Ruger Scout with XSSight rail. It's great! I'd recommend either low or medium height scope rings. I like the set it and forget zero option. It does take some getting used to if you haven't used a scout scope before, but I think it's the best choice out there. The adjustment ring is solid and just stiff enough to require intent to move.

[13.8 x 3.9 x 3"] Have had this scope for a while now. Never thought I’d own a Burris product, but here ya go. This little scope is awesome. Highly recommend. It’s not a Schmidt & Bender, but for my Scout rifle, this little thing is top shelf.

[2 to 7x] If you are in the market for a small binocular with top-of-the-line performance this, is it.

I have several old binoculars a Meade 7 x 50 porro, a Tasco 10 x 25 and Bushnell 10 X 25 and which like me were getting are old.

A friend recently became interested in bird watching and I did the research.  As I live in the Houston area and at the edges of both the Central and Mississippi migratory bird flyways in the U.S. and live on a large tract of land, I have the opportunity to see a lot of different birds.

As my old Meade was becoming harder to focus, I looked at the current market of ED binoculars and saw the Celestron NatureDX 8 X 42 model.  Like many reviews it is fantastic binocular.  I also decided to replace my small truck binoculars with something better than the Tasco 10 X 25 or the Bushnell and found the Hawk Vantage 8 X 32 model and I ordered it.  I also gave some thought to the Hawke Endurance ED model and almost sent an email to B & H to change out my order but I didn’t.

Upon arriving I did a comparison of the Celestron NatureDX against the Hawke Vantage.  I cannot see the difference between the two.  I can clearly see the difference between the Vantage the Tasco and the Bushnell. So, I drove out to the coast to look at the coastal shore birds.  The Vantage is a very good binocular.  It is lite, well built, easy to focus, very good light and for an eye glasses wearing person like me it has great eye relief.  I don’t see how the Vantage Endurance could be much better.

The Vantage is great binocular.

[32 mm] This 4 power Hawke is a real “sleeper!”
I just put a 22 Magnum Barrel on my CZ455, since I don’t have anything in that caliber
I didn’t want to put much money in a scope as this was going to be a “beater” that I carried in the Swamp while on a boat.
A 4x with AO is unusual in that you usually get that on a variable power. I didn’t want too many functions, just a simple scope, but I would probably be shooting squirrels, rabbits, alligators, snakes, turtles: at ranges of 10 feet to a maximum of 100 yards.
And an Adjustable Onjective on a fixed power would be perfect.
I found it a balanced look, attached to the 3/8 dovetail on the CZ455. Not too big.
I was amazed at the clarity and light gathering of this $70 scope. And the AO was the icing on the cake. Easy to rotate and so I left it set at about 27 yards(most of my shots)
It was perfect! I was getting 3/4 inch groups with the CCI Gamepoint 40 grain. Leaning against a tree for a rest. WOW!
So I just ordered another one for my newly arrived Ruger RAR 22 Magnum in the black synthetic stock —a real “plain Jane” better suited for “in the boat” duty. (My CZ was bumped up to be my squirrel gun!
One of my Best Buys!!
Try one and you’ll see!

[1.41 lb] I put this scope on my Henry 22lr lever action scope and shoots perfectly. Has Green and Red Illumination for when you are shooting in low light conditions. highly recommend this for a 22lr rifle of any kind. Hawke makes some of the best scopes i have ever used, I won 9 Hawke scopes.
