A: The receiver has a small battery attached. This is the way it's powered. When the receiver is attached to an xlr connection and phantom power is switched on the unit will see the phantom power and shut off and turn on when the camera is turned off or on. The xlr on the camera Does Not power the receiver. It only acts to save the on board battery of the receiver when the camera is turned off/on. The receiver battery lasts for approx. 4 hours.

The receiver and transmitter must both be powered on and within line of sight of each other in order to pair them. The transmitter and receiver need to be within close proximity and able to "see" each other during setup. Please be aware that other Sennheiser transmitters like those from the Evolution series or the XS series (which operate on the UHF band) or XSW-D series (which operates on the 2.4 GHz band) are not compatible for use with the AVX series receiver.
