Hawke Sport Optics 8x42 Nature-Trek Binoculars Greenfeature silver-coated BAK4 roof prisms and anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics to produce a versatile and capable optic that produces bright and clear images with accurate color rendition. Coupled with the optical features are 42mm diameter objectives that give the binoculars very competent low-light performance, while keeping the magnification at a modest 8x helps to limit most visible hand-shake and allows for a wider field of view versus higher-power binoculars. The combination of power, optics, and objectives make the Nature-Trek ideally suited for most outdoor activities from hunting, to birding, to boating and sporting events.

Complementing the optical performance are construction details that make the binoculars durable and comfortable to use. These details start with a lightweight, impact and corrosion-resistant polycarbonate chassis that is protected by green rubberized armor. This armoring is textured to give them a nonslip grip especially in cold and wet conditions. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof, especially in extreme weather conditions. A right-eye diopter adjustment allows the binoculars to be customized to most people's needs, and its twist-up eyecups mean they can be comfortably used with or without eye wear.

[5.25 mm] I am very pleased. The build quality is excellent. The scope is quite small but doesn't compromise performance. The image is very clear and bright across the field of view. The 9x setting offers generous eye relief so I can easily see the entire image while wearing glasses. Above roughly 20x, eye relief and brightness diminish. For my purposes, though, 27x is more than I need anyway. This scope is definitely worth considering. 5

[5.25 mm] I bought 2 Hawke Nature-Trek 10x42 bins for my grandkids. I researched all of the entry level bins on the internet and Hawke stood out in the reviews. Comparing these binoculars to my $500 Leupolds, I was surprised at the solid build and optics. Not the light gathering ability of Leupold, but solid clear easy to focus images. Excellent price and service from B&H, as always. I think these will give the kids years of enjoyment. I also recommend these for the casual adult user. 5

[8x] I thought that I would leave a review for these binoculars after having had them for 4 years. I've been extraordinarily happy with these binoculars. Optically, they are fantastic. They are very sharp across the majority of the field of view. There is no chromatic aberration that I notice at all. There is a very small barrel distortion, but it doesn't detract from the experience. I only notice it when looking at something that has a grid pattern. As some of the other reviews have noted, there is some internal reflection that happens if your eyes aren't perfectly aligned, but again, it doesn't detract from the use. The focus is very smooth and quick and the ergonomics are great. The reason I'm writing this review now is that after 4 years, I unfortunately dropped the binoculars while carrying too much stuff out to my car. They were in the case, but one of the lenses or mirrors got bumped out of alignment. It was time to test the lifetime no-questions asked warranty. I went through their process and emailed them right away. I received an RMA the morning of the next business day. I sent in the binoculars as instructed and got a message immediately when Hawke received them. They predicted a resolution within 15 business days, but today (6 business days later), I got a notification that they will be sending me a new pair free of charge! This price range of binoculars is quite crowded, but from everything I've read and experienced first hand, these binoculars are optically on par or better than the other choices. But the lifetime warranty really sets them apart. Many binoculars have long warranties, but they are typically limited to manufacturer defects and not accidental damage. I'm very happy to be getting a free brand new pair of binoculars instead of having to shell out hundreds again! I can't wait to get my new pair and get back on the trails! 5

[42 mm] Lots of $200 -300 binocs with same specs (ED etc) and good reviews, these are lowest priced. Also magnesium frame and wide PD range to fit more people, work well. I don't have experience to compare but they're fine. Pull tabs on the case zipper are made out of breakable pot metal. You'd think they'd one most visible metal to be good, but bins are fine. Objective lens covers easily come off, don't lose them. 5

[Roof (BAK4)] Love my new monocular- easy to focus, sharp image, and small enough to carry around. Seems sturdy and well made. The lens cover could have a stronger attachment (it could slide off); other than that, seems excellent. Ordering was easy, and delivery was quick. 5
