Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be mounted directly to an rrs tripod using the 3/8female on the bottom of the flat?

A: The Mounting Base is a Flat base with center 3/8 inch female thread, 3 x M5 threads and 2 x ¼ inch threads. This head is designed to connect to most any tripod model that supports 75mm bowl adapters using the following tie down https://bhpho.to/3MUnbYx. If the tripod you work with has a Male 3/8 tread it could also attach to that.

Q: 2. Does this fit the 75mm Ikan tripod ?

A: Yes, the following 75mm bowl video head will adapt to any 75mm bowl tripod.

Q: 3. Does this also fit the Miller DS25?

A: No, the Miller Long Camera Plate for AIR, DS10, DS20, Compass, CompassX Heads (4.8") will not work with the Miller DS25 head, and it is now discontinued. Miller 492 Camera Plate BH #MI492 • MFR #492

Q: 4. What is the minimum camera weight for effective counterbalance? I read that you need at least 10 pounds for this video head to balance properly. My rig is 9 pounds.

A: According to Miller the payload range of the DS-20 is 5.0-10.0kg (11.0-22.0lbs) You would have to have 2 more lbs. Otherwise you will be fighting the head as you move.

Q: 5. Can the 75mm bowl be removed so the head can be mounted to a flat surface?

A: According to Miller the DS-10 has a Removable ball level stud for flat base mounting (sliders) with 3/8 screw hole.

Q: 6. Where is this made?

A: The Miller ArtX7 Naked Fluid Video Head is made in Australia.

Q: 7. Why is this plate NOT listed as an accessory for the Compass20 Fluid Head under quick release plates ? I now have to order this after ordering the wrong plate.

A: We are sorry for any confusion. This is the proper plate for the Compass20 Fluid Head.

Q: 8. For the DS-10, does it have a locking mechanism to lock off pans and tilts? How does it work?

A: The Miller DS-10 Fluid Head (75mm Ball Base) has individual pan and tilt locks, as any quality professional video head has. There are respective levers on the panning base and on the tilting head.

Q: 9. Will this work with the Gitzo GT1545T?

A: While the base diameter of the Gitzo GHFG1 Gimbal Fluid Head is larger than the upper disc diameter of the Gitzo GIGT1545T Traveler Series 1 Carbon Fiber Tripod, the two items may still be used with one another. The gimbal head uses the standard 3/8"-16 female tripod socket on the bottom of the head, and the Gitzo GIGT1545T tripod has a reversible 3/8"-16 male tripod thread on the top of the center column, the two items may be used with one another.

Q: 10. There are keyrings on the top and on the bottom of one of the tripod's legs. What are they for?

A: This listing is for a Video Head only, there is no tripod with this product. Feel free to email us directly at ask@bandh.com for additional assistance.

[Yes] This head is fantastic! It is replacing a 25 year old Vinten Vision 5. While I have loved the Vinten, the infinite adjustable friction has worn out. I love the gears in this one and the 16 step counter balance. Also the Vinten heads only have a range for which they can be counter balanced, like 7 pounds to 14 pounds. This guy can go all the way from zero to 26.4 pounds. That means I can use a heavy camera or a DSLR and still balance the weight. Excellent design!

[5.8 lb] Buttery smooth pans and tilts. Easy to counter balance. Easy to mount and unmount your camera.

[Fluid Head] I purchased the Miller CX10 Fluid Head specifically for use with a Sony A7iii and Sony 200-600 G zoom lens in a rig weighing about 13 pounds. I use this setup as a moving camera for closeups in concerts. It's important to have smooth action with (near) perfect balance. The CX10 meets all of my need and expectations. It is also compact, rugged, and very easy to adjust. It is a true fluid head, so adjusting the drag is easy, since you aren't working against spring tension found in friction heads. The counterbalance is also easy to adjust, without undue resistance. I can point it to any position and let go of the handle without sag and very little springback. Hold for just a second or two, and the springback disappears.

[Yes] This replaced a well know brand fluid head and the difference was night and day. The counter balance is smooth, super easy to use, and convenient top plate loading.

I have no disappointment and am considering the accessory plate.

[5.8 lb] This is the best fluid head I've used for my GH5S. Counterbalance set to 1 is just right for a minimal body/lens/mic setup and setting 2 is perfect for a more elaborate setup. Been a longtime fan of Miller quality and to my knowledge they are one of the few that hasn't been sold to a large corporation that are known to cut corners to reduce costs, you simply can't find this quality elsewhere at this price point. The only thing missing is drag controls but the drag is set to a level I'm comfortable with, and having an illuminated bubble level would have been nice. I'll take the tradeoff of overall build quality over having a bunch of bells and whistles any day. Even though this was a special order item it shipped very quickly from the Miller branch in New Jersey. They are also very easy to get on the phone with if service or parts are ever needed.

[Yes] Purchased in Feb 2022 with the Solo Q 100mm sticks. My previous tripod was a Vinten 5LF. I loved the Vinten, but with lighter cameras I no longer needed a head that could hold 40 lbs or more. The CX10 holds from 0 to 26 pounds and the 16 steps of counter balance and 5 levels of friction in both directions make for the perfect tool. I use both a Canon cinema camera and a Canon ENG camera on this tripod. No matter which camera or lens, I get remarkably smooth moves. And the CX10 / SoloQ is very light, about 10 pounds. My old Vinten was 16 to 18 pounds at least. The Carbon fiber legs are stiff and rigid. A wonderful purchase.

[Fluid Head] Buttery smooth pan and tilt and the ability to precisely dial in the counterbalance makes this a unique and excellent head. I have had mine for about 2 years and love it.

[Fluid Head] Have been using it since October of 2021, and I am very happy with it. The adjustments took a little getting used to, there is a learning curve. Needed to practice to get the hang of it (by that I mean ability to adjust during a shoot without thinking).

The CS6 is more than adequate for my light set up (Red Komodo or R5 with a Canon 100-400 or 100-500 lens). Buttery smooth pans and tilts. Feels good in my hands, a pleasure to use. Should be good for much heavier setups but be careful to make sure you have the right model for your needs.

[Yes] Working in broadcast TV starting in late 70's and through to 2015 and the only components that lasted the test of 7 day a week use in all weather conditions were the Miller heads and this unit is no exception. I purchased on a flash sale and have employed in many different configurations with mirrorless and camcorder rigs. I enjoy the simplicity of the settings as usually, with previous heads, I would set up and never adjust say for the camera positioning. And the reality is, these units hold their value as the cost of manufacturing always rises. Most shooting is reliant on the sticks. If your head is poor, you work harder. This as with all Miller heads will long outlive most careers and provide years of worry free, solid performance.
