Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this clamp fit the orange rail on a Celestron C8 OTA ?

A: The Losmandy DVWS 2.5 lb Counterweight System (BH # LODVWS) is designed specifically for Losmandy's larger D-series and smaller V-series plates. It would be purely coincidental if there is compatibility with Celestron mounts.

Q: 2. Does the EXOS nano adj. Knobs move as slowly as the twilight 1 and can you mount a celestron travel 70 on the EXOS Nano?

A: No, the Explore Scientific FirstLight EXOS Nano Mount will not move as slowly as a Twilight 1 mount. As long as you can mount the Celestron Travel 70 on a Vixen-style universal mount, it will mount.

Q: 3. What is the differance between the twilight 1and the EXOS nano? Do they do the same functions.

A: The Explore Scientific FirstLight EXOS Nano Mount with ST1 Tripod is an equatorial mount with a maximum height of 45 inches. The Twilight 1 is an Alt-Az mount with a maximum height of 55 inches. Both are rated to support up to 15 pounds.

Q: 4. how thick is this weight?

A: It is 4 inches in diameter and 1.75 inches in thickness.

Q: 5. Is it compatible with the CEM40 EC 28mm shaft?

A: Yes, the iOptron 5.5 lb Counterweight for iEQ45/CEM60 EQ Mounts will fit the iOptron CEM40EC with the 28mm shaft.

Q: 6. are the legs chromed steel or stainless?

A: The legs of the Explore Scientific FirstLight EXOS Nano Mount with ST1 Tripod BH #EXFLENEQ3M • MFR #FL-EXOSNANOT1-00 are aluminum

Q: 7. Will a Celestron C6-N be mounted on this? Is it strong enough hold it if heavier counterweight is needed?

A: Yes the OTA is about 10 lbs. The head and tripod are rated for a 15 lb. max load

Q: 8. Will a Skywatcher Evostar 72ED telescope with a 2 inch diagonal, hydrogen alpha Quark filter (2 pounds), and eyepiece (1 pound) mount to this?

A: The Explore Scientific FirstLight EXOS Nano Mount with ST1 Tripod is for Small Scopes/Refractors up to 15 lb. This should be able to hold the Sky-Watcher Evostar ED APO 72mm f/5.8 Refractor Guidescope with the diagonal, filter, and eyepiece.

Q: 9. The fibre lining on the cradles; how thick would you say it is?

[1.25" diameter] Purchased this for my C6 and C8 which ride on manual alt-az mounts. This simple counterweight system is nicely engineered, adjustable, fits Vixen and Losmandy D rails and works very well on both SCTs.

[1.25" diameter] Works like a charm. Not in the market to buy a light tracking mount for my camera since I have a Celestron EVO tracker. The vixen dovetail works perfectly to mount the camera and lens. An inexpensive solution; plus it's easy to replace exactly where it was since it has ruler markings.

[11 lb / 5.0 kg] Excellent, strong dovetail. Fits nicely on my Sky-Watcher GTI. It comes with screws and a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter.

[11 lb / 5.0 kg] I needed something to attach my DSLR to my tripod and this does the trick

[1.25" diameter] Very Helpful in Balancing OTAs in DEC. I have used these at the rear of dovetail plates to offset nose-heavy refractors, and in the front to offset butt-heavy SCTs. With the long, nose-heavy refractors, it enables the OTA to be higher up on the saddle and keep the camera from hitting the tripod while pointing toward the zenith. The shorter screw is needed to keep from hitting my mount head.
