The Canon WFT-E8A Wireless File Transmitterfrom Canon WFT-E8A Wireless File Transmittermakes it simple and easy to set up wireless transfers with the EOS-1D X Mark II DSLR camera and the cinema EOS C300 Mark II Camcorder Body. The transmitter supports IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac for fast and secure connections over a LAN network using both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signals.

The WFT-E8A allows the user to transfer images using FTP transfer, EOS Utility, WFT Server, or the Canon Camera Connect app, which also provides remote shooting capabilities. The built-in Wireless Time Syncing function can receive images captured on multiple cameras and automatically sequence them chronologically. Lastly, all these functions are housed in a compact, lightweight body that has been sealed for dust and water resistance.

A: When connected to an existing 802.11ac network, it averaged ~10MB/s; when configured in access point mode in the field where there is no existing Wi-Fi network, it averaged 7-8MB/s when manually configured to run on one of the channels on the 5GHz band (forcing 802.11ac with 80MHz channel width) and drops down to 2-3MB/s if left configured automatically (so it chooses the lowest common denominator, 802.11b/g/n with a 20MHz channel width). When in the field, I have Wi-Fi hotspot enabled on my Android phone and an FTP server app running on it, then WFT-E8A connects to it and automatically sends images to the phone as soon as they have been written to the memory cards. I choose to transfer JPEG only and leave RAW in camera. If I find a JPEG needs adjustments I can always bring up the RAW on the camera's LCD and press the Set button to manually send it to the phone.

Q: 5. Is this device also capable of NFC as well as WiFi? My understanding is tat they are different protocols as used for different situations.

A: This device is capable of WiFi only.

Q: 6. With c300mk2, what is the difference between the e8 and the e6?

A: Functions are the same with both, supposedly the data rate with the E8 is better than the E6 . I haven't been able to do back to back testing as I sold the E6 and bought the E8 . The MK 2 needs updated firmware to use the E8 which may aboviate using the E6. Realistically, I can't swear that the image live view with the E8 is much better than the E6 but again, I couldn't test side by side.

A: The right choice in a transmitter is going to depend on which camera you are using. The WFT-E8A only works with the EOS-1D X Mark II and C300D II cameras, while the CamRanger 2 is compatible with many other Canon DSLRs.

[85% or less] Little pricey. But it is for 1dx3 also works on c500ii so if u can afford those cameras you can afford this. 5

[0.275 lb] My oh my! Wow oh wow! I use my iPhone 6s Plus with Camera Connect by Canon and this transmitter takes shooting to a whole new level! Setting up was so fast. I got it set up under 30 seconds through the ‘easy set-up’ on the app. The live view is truly live and moves smoothly through the phone. Setting up ISO, SS, and Aperture is so much easier and fast through the phone and you can see much more detail and get different perspectives on what your shot will look like. Now let’s get to the transfer. It does what it’s made to do at such lighting speed I became excited owning this camera all over again. It transmits raws and mp4 videos within seconds into your phone and if you like editing on your phone, you get the full quality straight away without having to transfer to your computer and into your phone. This changed everything to me. Remote shooting opens up a whole new level of freedom with this camera. 5

[0.275 lb] I was not sure if this was the replacement for the WFT-E6A , but i bought it to try (well you can always return it lol). Works amazing, we were able to connect to the camera via WiFi and control all its functions, either W/B, Focus, ISO, Shutter, etc... wow impressive!!!! 5
