This Manfrotto XPRO 3-Way Geared Pan-and-Tilt Head Kitfrom Manfrotto XPRO 3-Way Geared Pan-and-Tilt Head Kithas a load capacity of 8.8 lb and can be attached to tripods or other support systems that feature a 3/8"-16 mount. It includes an integrated RC2 quick release cam lock and a 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate. RC2 compatible quick release plates such as the 200PL-14 can be removed from the head by pulling the cam lock's spring-loaded lever, which also allows the plate to be quickly reattached. The cam lock also features a safety catch to prevent the 200PL-14, or another compatible quick release plate from accidentally disconnecting.

Cameras, sport optics, or camcorders that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the quick release plate before securing it to the pan-and-tilt head. The head can be rotated 360°, tilted 90° forwards or 20° backwards, as well as 90° sideways for portrait orientation. Each of these three movements function independently of each other and have individual, spring-clamp controls. Squeezing each clamp's two handles allows the corresponding movement to be rapidly adjusted, and once the handles are released, the adjustment is locked into place. One handle on each clamp is also an integrated twist knob that allows incremental, geared adjustments, which help to ensure that any device mounted to this XPRO 3-Way, Geared Pan-and-Tilt Head is precisely positioned relative to the subject.

To further promote fast and repeatable device positioning, this XPRO 3-Way, Geared Pan-and-Tilt Head also includes dedicated angle scales for each movement that are designed for easy visibility.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I mount a Panasonic AW-UE150 directly to this tripod?

A: Yes, But a pushing must be set in place in order to do so. Please review the following item Oben 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing BH #OB1039 • MFR #OB-1039 https://bhpho.to/36bOgGQ

Q: 2. Is this a metal or plastic support? I want to use this for google business view.

A: The entire item is metal, except for the rubber adjustable knobs. Solid piece of equipment.

Q: 3. From what alloy is the 405 constructed, and how hard is it? Should the gears wear well over the long haul?

A: I can't answer the question directly, but I will say that I loaded it with a heavy camera and large lens and it performed well.

Q: 4. I see the body is plastic to reduce weight. However, are the gears made of metal? I'm just afraid that if the gears are also plastic that they will wear quickly and lose precision.

A: Manfrotto uses very good quality material. In the light there have been no reports at B&H as to gears failing for this head, we feel confident that the gears here are more than up to the task. You should get many solid years of service out of this head.

Q: 5. What would I need to take my 503 head off one of my other tripods and mount it on this one? Is that possible? If not, what's a good fluid head I could mount on this tripod?

A: There are a few different 503 heads. One is just called 503 and that attaches with just a 3/8 connection like the tripod you mentioned. You just unscrew the head from your other tripod and attach this to the 028B Studio Pro Triman Tripod Legs. Now if you have the 503 HDV, that uses a 75mm flat top and then that will not fit on the 028B.If you then do need a different head these are a few different ones.

Q: 6. What are the dimentions of the quick release plate?

A: While neither B&H nor Manfrotto lists the dimensions of the Manfrotto 200PL Quick Release Plate, a href= http://tripodquickrelease.com target= _blank tripodquickrelease.com/a lists the dimensions of the quick release plate as 1.66 x 2.06 x 0.39 in inches.

Q: 7. Just curious, what is the diameter of the base that connects to the tripod? Thanks!

A: The base uses a 3/8 inch tripod screw. Depending upon you preferred unit of measure, the base diameter is approximately:2 5/16 or 2.3 or 6 cm.BTW, great head!

Q: 8. Will the plate tighten down well enough that there will be no slippage with 8 pounds of gear at 90°?

A: You should have proper stability based on the weight of your gear and the weight capacity of the head.

Q: 9. Can this head be used for accurate panoramas? It appears that mount is not centered over the base, which would require two rails: one to center the camera over the base and another to center the nodal point. Is this accurate? Thanks!

A: Get Chris Hejnar's "Extended Plate for Manfrotto 410 Gear Head". This will center an Arca-Swiss type clamp on the panning axis. Replacing the stock Manfrotto QR system with A-S type clamp also eliminates the problematic Manfrotto QR plate system which multiple reviewers state it fell apart of failed with use.

Q: 10. Will this work with a Toyo 4x5 camera?

A: Yes, this setup will work with a Toyo 4x5.

[Yes] I bought this for real estate photography so I can have the stability and extra height with the lever to increase height to use with the arc Swiss d4 gear head. This tripod will last for years and worth the dollars. It’s not too heavy and feels durable.

[Yes] When I was a young photographer I had a cool old dude at a local camera store who would always 'TRY' and steer me in the right direction when I was making new purchases. One of his early recommendations was to buy a QUALITY tripod, and not one of the bargain brands I had my eye on [*couch* Slick]. So I saved for months and bought my first pro-grade set of legs which really hurt at the time cost-wise, but ended up being my go-to rig for over 20 years to follow.

That first set of sticks was then labeled Bogen 3036, which is now the MUCH improved over the years Manfrotto 475B. Since those early years, I have owned and still own many, many different sets of tripods. Gitzo, Manfrotto, no-name brands for very specific purposes, etc. But I recently had a shoot come up that required some very specific needs, I was at a loss with my current options. Doing my research I stumbled upon the 475B... and it turned out to be a direct replacement for my beloved 3036 of long ago. 10 minutes into my shoot I remembered what I loved about this design. It's the perfect 99% of the time tripod for my work. Read the spec's, these are the gold standard of commercial photography legs. Buy with confidence, as B&H has been the go-to shop for decades!

[-90° to +20°] Very pleased with how easy it is to set up and align. Heavy but stable as a rock. Would highly recommend.

[Pan & Tilt Head] I am using this tripod to hold a 90mm widefield refractor on a TeleVue Cradle. All my other tripods shook the view whenever I touched the focus. This tripod is a bit beefier than all the previous yet still light enough to carry even when Telescope Mounted. I might not want to carry it on a 5 mile hike but other than that this thing is perfect for my use.

[Pan & Tilt Head] Solid, tall, and heavy. I give it 5 stars because it's what I wanted. Solid vs weight, I want solid.

[Pan & Tilt Head] After using my old 3011 for quite a few years it was time for a new tripod have to say the high standards are still high.
Tried the 475 right out of the box the geared head is just what I expected.
Its a bit on the heavy side but solid as a rock and very versatile most of my work is out side in the winter in Alaska I had to get a bigger sled.
Works well in the cold the adjustment locks along with all other adjustments are easy to operate with gloves.
One of my concerns with the plastic looking locks breaking in the extreme cold (below -35),they hold up on my other Manfrotto products.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I purchased the Manfrotto 475B tripod to use with my APM 100mm binoculars. The binoculars and head weigh more than 18 pounds so I needed a robust stable tripod. The Manfrotto 475B delivers what it promises. The tripod easily supports my binocular setup even with fully extended legs and column. I use the binoculars primarily for astronomical viewing so there is a lot of looking up. The geared column makes very easy to get the binocular eyepieces to a comfortable viewing position for both while seated in my observing chair or standing. The tripod remains stable even while focusing the binoculars which is big plus for me. I would recommend this tripod to anyone who needs a stable platform for big binoculars
