This Manfrotto XPRO 3-Way Pan-Tilt Head with Quick Release Platesfrom Manfrotto XPRO 3-Way Pan-Tilt Head with Quick Release Plateshas a load capacity of 26.5 lb and can be attached to tripods or other support systems that feature a 3/8"-16 mount. It includes an integrated RC2 quick release cam lock and a 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate. RC2 compatible quick release plates such as the 200PL-14 can be removed from the head by pulling the cam lock's spring-loaded lever, which also allows the plate to be quickly reattached. The cam lock also features a safety catch to prevent the 200PL-14, or another compatible quick release plate from accidentally disconnecting.

Cameras, sport optics, or camcorders that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the quick release plate before securing it to the pan-and-tilt head. The head can be rotated 360°, tilted 90° forwards or 30° backwards, as well as 90° sideways for portrait orientation. Each of these three movements function independently of each other, have dedicated control handles, and can be locked into place. In addition to integrating the ability to individually lock the movements by twisting each corresponding handle's rubberized grip, the telescoping control handles for both tilt functions can also be retracted while the head is not in use for more convenient storage or transport.

To promote fast and repeatable device positioning, this XPRO 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head also includes a dedicated angle scale for rotational movements that is designed for easy visibility, as well as dedicated control knobs set under the telescoping control handles that can each be rotated to apply tension control to either the backwards and forwards, or sideways tilt movements at any time.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a Manfrotto 190 Go! aluminum tripod. Is it compatible with it and how easy is it to replace the current Manfrotto head I have on?

A: Yes it is. In fact, I purchased this specifically to use with the aluminum 190Go and it works great. Mounted perfectly.

Q: 2. Would this fit the Manfrotto MT190X3 Aluminum Tripod?

A: Hi JackI've been using this head on my 055 series tripod, without any problems.I should fit the 190 aluminium tripod without any problems. The only thing to check would be whether the tripod mounting screw for the camera is the bigger 'pro' size or the standard 1/4 . No problem though, as you can normally unscrew the bigger screw adaptor to reveal the smaller screw fitting underneath (if required).Hope this helpsCheersBrian

Q: 3. Is there an arca-Swiss adapter to convert so I can use my arca plates on it?

A: No, unfortunately not.

Q: 4. Being newer than the 808RC4, why is it cheaper than the older one ? I see it has tension/friction controls which the 808RC4 doesn't but this one is still cheaper. I ordered the 808 based on the reviews and stability concerns but now I am having second thoughts as to which would be better and should I cancel the 808RC4 and order this one. Anyone care to compare these two please ?

A: I own several Manfrotto heads. This one is my favorite. It's not the strongest or lightest of the bunch. But, it is very stable, smooth and precise. I use it with a Nikon D810 which weighs in at 5 lbs. with a long lens attached. No regrets with this purchase. I would buy it again.

Q: 5. Will this system work with my existing Really Right Stuff L bracket? Worried that the quick release system will only work with the Manfrotto plate.

A: This head only accepts an L-bracket such as the Manfrotto Q2 L Bracket, BH # MAQ2LB directly. Otherwise to use your existing RRS bracket on this head, the Kirk QR-AB1QR Universal Quick Release Adapter with Quick Release Clamp, BH # KIQRAB1QR can be used. https://bhpho.to/2XvBJFt https://bhpho.to/2J5HiXX

Q: 6. Would this head fit on the Manfrotto 190go! Aluminum tripod?

A: yes it will

Q: 7. Is this head compatible with a Proline tripod? I'm looking for a more responsive tripod head than the one I have.

A: I checked the specifications of the Dolica AX620B100 62-Inch Proline Tripod and the Manfrotto head will fit once you remove the ball head. if you are using a different model legs, please let me know which model legs you are using and I can verify the compatibility. Please send an email to:askphoto@bhphoto.com

Q: 8. Can I use it on a Vanguard tripod?

A: As long as the tripod has the standard 3/8ths inch mounting lug it should work

Q: 9. Is this head compatible with Manfrotto 745XB video tripod legs?

A: Yes

Q: 10. Is this head compatible with Benro TMA27C Series 2 Mach3 Carbon Fiber Tripod?

A: The Manfrotto MHXPRO-3W can be attached to the Benro Mach3 with their matching 3/8-16" connections.

[Yes] I use this head in my laboratory to support heavy (10-15lbs.) high-speed video cameras. I need to be able to precisely point the camera at the target, and this head works like a dream. The movement about all three angular axes is very smooth, and I don't notice any backlash. The head is so solid, I imagine it could support a 25 pound camera when mounted sideways. No more loosen-move-tighten-redo-redo...you just dial in the angles you want. The action on the knobs is perfect--not too stiff, but stiff enough that there is no chance of the camera drifting. You can fold out little cranks on the knobs, but that is not really necessary. There are three sizes of pedestal quick-release platforms of varying height. This is nice if your camera has accessories or parts that can interfere with mounting to the head. Definitely recommend!

[-90° to +30°] This is a great head, but it’s heavy. If you plan on using it for nature photography, be aware that it will add a good bit of weight to your pack.

It holds my D7100 with grip and 55-300 well, even when I use it for macro with extension tubes and rail. It can hold some weight.

It’s smooth and easy to adjust.

Great head.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I use the Manfrotto 400 geared head for our domestic cricket series in Australia, we have 4 locked off HD cameras mounted up on scaffolding with a shot of the pitch including both wickets, the shot is required to be exact as it is keyed using a graphic representation of the wickets, this is used to show if the ball continued on its path, would it have knocked down the wickets. The geared head is fantastic allowing fine adjustment and getting the exact position on all cameras. I now own 8 units. I am extremely happy with this product.

[Pan & Tilt Head] I bought this for landscape/scenic photography and it works great. It is compact enough to easily fit in a tripod bag. It works well with Gitzo legs and fits perfectly. Workmanship and general quality are excellent for the price range. I also have a Manfroto ball head a fluid video head. All of them are great and, with the three of them, I can cover just about any situation. Only shortcoming - not Arca compatible. I added an adaptor, but really wish it came that way.

[Pan & Tilt Head] I'm shooting Crescent Moon shots with 150-600 Tamaron. Gives good control when focusing at 10 to one.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] This is a very smooth, high quality pan-and-tilt head. Be aware that if you are planning on using it for travel, that it is heavy.

[2.82 lb] Very well built 3 way panning head that holds my camera and 100-400 lens perfectly. The bubble levels work nicely. The friction adjustment is a neat feature that is great. The mounting bracket is very secure. I am going to use it to track the sun with my filter on and also during the upcoming eclipse which is easier to do than with a ballhead.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I use this head on Berlebach heavy duty and Gitzo 5530s tripods with both Sinar P2 and Linhof Kardan GTL cameras. And I feel myself much more comfortable with it than even with Linhof 77mm Levelling Pan/Tilt Head. The Manfrotto 400 Geared Head - has very smoothly movements and really easy supporting LR view cameras, as above. It's very useful for me in all kind of studio works especially I enjoy it at macro shooting. In a present time I think about buying one more Manfrotto 400.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I'm just getting started with this gear and really enjoy this head. It’s proving to be a reliable, precise tool for my photography. The controls allow for smooth, controlled movements. It’s sturdy without being overly heavy.

[2.82 lb] Great head, does everything I need except you can't tilt the head 90 degrees if you have the handles pushed in, you will need to extend the handle in order for it to go 90 degrees. Minor gripe but its kinda annoying as I generally leave them pushed in. Movement is as smooth as you'd expect and I love the tension adjustment so your camera doesn't want to immediately want to flop down as you loosen the tilt adjustment (something that i hated about my previous head)
