A: No, the Manfrotto 234RC is not Arca type compatible. It only uses Manfrotto 200PL plates.

Q: 2. Do the 234RC and the older 3229 both use the 200PL-14 QR Plate? Concerned about interchangeability between the two heads.

A: Yes they do both use the 200PL-14 QR Plate.

Q: 3. re: answer to counterbalance springs in Manfrotto 808RC4 - question was not answered. How do I "simply turn the springs off" and on?

A: On the 808RC4, there is a little knob beneath the quick release clamp (you can see it in the second picture) that you simply have to turn.

A: No, the handles do not retract...but they can be removed (unscrewed out).

Q: 6. How do I activate the counterbalance springs in the Manfrotto 808RC4 ?

A: There is an ON/Off selector for the balance spring for both the front tilt movement and the side tilt movement on the Manfrotto 808RC4 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head. Instructions should also be included with the tripod head purchase.

A: Yes, the screw on the top of this head will fit point and shoot cameras. It uses the industry standard 1/4 -20 thread size which is the size photo cameras use.

A: This item will not be compatible with the Joby UltraFit strap and UltraPlate, as Manfrotto uses a proprietary quick release system.

[2.4" / 6.1 cm] The swivel tilt head allows you to shoot either horizontally or vertically on your monopod. The transition is smooth and quick. The234RC Head also has the Quick Release plate so getting your camera on and off the monopod is a snap! No time consuming unscrewing. 5

[2.4" / 6.1 cm] It's hard not to give a swivel/tilt head less than five stars when it exceeds everything that it's supposed to do. Easy to install, easy to use and easy on the pocket. [0.65 lb] Bought my 234 RC to work along side my 680B 4-SECTION COMPACT (BLK) MONOPOD heaviest mounted lens: 70-2002.8LIS USM + Gripped T1i. Works effortlessly. Tilted side ways was the real test... again, no worries. Held solidly. Used once in Rain already; no apparent loss of fluid releases. Comes with a key lock to tighten the leg locks as well. Compact size allows me to neal closer to the ground. No downsides found yet with this combo. 5

[2.4" / 6.1 cm] I do lot of low light (where bringing light is not an option) outdoor and work in crowded places. I can't use tripod in many public places, side walks etc. This is light (compared to tripod), stable and great for video. Tall enough for most purposes, but little long in lenght (which is obvious for its total length). I did couple of shoots using this monopod already, and I am glad that I did. If you are doing video, this is a must. This head and monopod combo is really a great product at a very reasonable price. 5
