Q: 1. what else is needed to operate this device? Does it need a prompter server?

A: The device attaches to a camera mounted on a tripod. Beside the camera itself, you also need an iPad and teleprompter app (several apps are available, I went with Prompt Smart )

Q: 2. Do you have to download the Datavideo app to use this system, or can you use any teleprompting app?

A: You can use it with any teleprompting app. However, I am not sure if the remote will work with any app or only with Datavideo app.

Q: 3. Would this rig work with a Blackmagic Ursa Mini?

A: The Lanparte Professional DSLR Kit V1 is for a DSLR camera therefore I believe it would not work.At this time, there is no rig specifically for the URSA Mini since it is so new it is not out yet. I would look for offerings by Lanparte, Wooden Camera, Zacuto and SHAPE.Attached is a basic rig that would get you started.

Q: 4. My camera lens is 72mm. Will this teleprompter fit ok?

A: yes

Q: 5. We're using a Blackmagic Studio HD camera, with a regular Olympus 12-40mm lens (not a huge ENG glass). Will the TP-300 model work with the BMD camera or should we use a larger model?

Q: 6. Does tablet size affect screen resolution? i.e., will a 9 tablet be better than a 7 ?

A: I just used the TP-300B today (and I've used it with numerous other people before). I use a 7-inch Nexus, which I purchased from B&H, and it works perfectly. I've never had complaints from performers about not being able to read the text. The free DV Prompter app allows the text size and color to be changed. I just use the default. My 7-inch Nexus has wonderful resolution. A larger screen would allow larger text to be used without decreasing the amount of text on screen to the same extent. This could be useful in cases where the performer might have to be very far from the camera. I would recommend downloading the free DV Prompter App and see how the text looks to you from the distance your talent will be reading from. Note that the scrolling speed can also be changed. I recommend using a fast speed and letting the talent use the remote control to pause the scrolling. Advise them to not hold down the pause button, or the blutooth link will be shut off. Also, I discourage the use of the speed and skip buttons on the remote, because they make loud clicks that will be picked up on mic.

Q: 7. Could this be used with a Sony Handycam HDR Sony PXW-X200 XDCAM?

A: Yes it could be. This Prompter has a base plate that accepts Camcorders and DSLRs. You should be able to attach a camcorder like the PXW-X200 to this unit.

Q: 8. Does Remote Control work with Android tablets? I have a 9 and 10 inch tablet with Android 3.0 and Bluetooth 3.0 and I want to know if the remote control worked with what applications on the tablet.

A: You need to install the DV Prompter app on your tablet. Simply pair the bluetooth remote to your tablet in the bluetooth settings.

Q: 9. I have a larger camera. It is about 9.5 inches from lens to the threaded mount. Will the TP-300 work or do I need to step up to the TP-650?

[12.8 x 9 x 4.4"] We needed a pro look telepromptor to complete our video studio and this was just the ticket. Not only did it give us the look we were going for to impress clients, it was also well within our budget as we already had a tablet. The only modification we had to make was to raise the level of the mirror using some washers. This was to accomodate our overly large camera, not a design flaw by Datavideo. 5

[60/40] Ok, we as a company got tired of filming our subjects and having the issue of the speaker noticeably looking to the top, side, bottom of the camera while reading their script during recording.We do most of our recordings via a Canon DSLR and used an iPad for a teleprompter. This product worked extremely well for our needs. Easy installation, durable and effective. I've not noticed any issues with the footage being recorded darker. The text is displayed the way it should on the teleprompter glass.My only con to this would not be the hardware itself, it would have to deal with the app being used for the teleprompter that you need to get for free from the app store and the remote. In itself, the app works as it should. But with the remote, both wired and wireless, it can be a pain. The keys to forward, slow down, etc. does not work that well. It proved to be more beneficial for us to download an alternate app and use it, which does work with the remotes. But for the product itself, I still give it five stars because it does work. 5

[DSLRs] The TP300 is great. It is compact and very functional. I have used it on location with corporate and commercial clients and they have all been impressed. The software works great as well. I am using it with a BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet and making edits on the fly and controlling the prompter with the supplied bluetooth mouse couldn't be easier. One of the best equipment investments I've ever made. 5

[4.25 lb] The assistance of a teleprompter while working with people who are not comfortable in front of a camera, it a real asset and time-savers. For small operations, a telepromter costing a couple of thousand of dollars isn't practical. The Datavideo TP-300B is a quality solution at a very affordable cost. 5

[12.8 x 9 x 4.4"] We use this at my company for recording short video messages for our clients. It's taken our videos to the next level. Make sure you get a telepromter app that accepts the remote that comes with this telepromter. The app I bought didn't and I ended up having to use a wireless keyboard. 5
