The FotodioX WonderPana 145 Core Unit for Canon 14mm Lensis compatible with the FotodioX WonderPana 145, FreeArc, and Absolute filter holder systems. It helps to reduce reflections as well as glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

The FotodioX 145mm Circular Polarizer Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and features lightweight, aluminum-alloy filter rings. A rear filter ring connects to a compatible filter holder while four brass knobs along the side of the front filter ring allow the filter glass to be easily rotated. This provides the ability to achieve the desired degree of polarization even if another filter is placed in front of the FotodioX 145mm Circular Polarizer Filter.

Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.

Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.

Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.

Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.

Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.

1.25 to 8x filter factor reduces exposure by 0.3 to 3 stops.

Constructed from optical glass for clarity.

Lightweight, aluminum-alloy filter rings along with four brass side knobs allow the filter glass to be easily rotated. The desired effect can be easily achieved even if another filter is placed directly in front.

Filter pouch included for storage and transport.

[0.365 lb] Having a crop sensor camera, using the Rokinon 14mm is great for waterfall photos since I can get real close to my subject. However, not having a polarizer, the photos were never as good as I wanted them. Now I can get remove the glare and really start to enjoy the lens. Just remember, if you use this filter to darken a blue sky on a 14mm lens without clouds, the sky will look terrible but this is not what this polarizer and lens combo is for.

[0.365 lb] This thing is excellent, just beware of the small brass screws on the filter ring. They are not firmly tightened.I took them out and used some Locktite on the threads so they want be loose any more. And sadly ,the filter pouch is to small for the holder with filter mounted.

[0.365 lb] I do architectural work and before finding about WonderPana, I seldom used my wide angle lenses such as the Sigma 12-24. Now, they are integral part of my main lens kit. Being able to put a polarizer or a ND filter in front of the lens has changed my options dramatically. It is indeed a wonderful accessory.

[Aluminum] I'm an architect in the process of resurrecting my architectural photography skills by doing back up project photography for my firm. Forty-two years ago I was using a Nikon F and a Nikkor 35mm PC lens. I recently invested in a Canon 6D and the 24 & 17mm TS-E lenses. I've missed not having a polarizing filter on the 17mm until a few weeks ago when I was in NYC and ran across an architectural photographer using the WonderPana polarizing filter. I immediately ordered one and have had several occasions to use it since. My immediate reaction is that the polarizing effect may not be quite as dramatic as I am used to, but it is effective none-the-less and certainly better than not having the filter. Also, I am being very careful with it given some of the review comments about the little brass nibs breaking off. So far, so good!

[0.365 lb] Excellent filters but really big. But then I knew that would be the case when I ordered them.

[6.9 x 6.65 x 1"] The mount works great for the 17mm TS-E, and the polarizer doesn't seem to effect the color (haven't checked it with a x-rite color checker yet). As another reviewer mentioned, the tiny brass (?) knobs can come unscrewed and fall out (so I just torqued them tightly right when I opened the box so I wouldn't loose any). It comes with the mount and cap in one red pouch, and the filter in another pouch. The mount and cap are just thick enough to be a bit of a hassle to put back into the pouch, and it's not possible to put all of the items into a single pouch while assembled. Otherwise it works great!

[6.9 x 6.65 x 1"] This system works so good, that aside from it being on the lens, you forget it's on the lens, despite it's size. when looking through the view finder, it is so clean that you don't think it's on . The polarizing is amazing. the best out of a mountain of filters and polarizers I've tried. the clouds are UNBELIEVABLE .
