The Armored Light Case is a padded wheeled carrying case and backpack with a lightweight armored interior shell. The case is very rugged and can be used for everyday field work or extensive travel and shipping as an alternative to heavy hard shell ABS plastic cases. Fold-away backpack straps keep your hands free and make it more comfortable to carry heavy light kits.
The exterior of the case is made using abrasion-resistant 1000-denier Cordura nylon. There is a single heavy-duty YKK zipper that runs the length of the case to make accessing your light kit quick and easy. A Cordura zipper guard extends the life of the zipper and helps keep rain or water from getting in to the case.
Inside there are four hanging padded pouches to provide extra protection for the lights during transport. Four padded dividers are included to separate and organize the light heads and accessories. Comfortable suede handles are supplied for carrying and an extra set of suede handles are attached on the sides of the case for lifting heavy loads in and out of vehicles. The ALC comes with off-road inline skate wheels with ball-bearings for smooth rolling over almost any surface. The wheels are attached to solid steel plates for extra strength and are removable to avoid getting caught and damaged during shipping and air-travel baggage checking.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the bend sw270c work in this by chance?

A: The Tenba Transport Air Case with Wheels for Eizo 27" Display BH #TEACE27 is not compatible with the BenQ SW270C.

Q: 2. Does this bag come with any partitions so the light aren't resting on each other? If not, any recommendations on where to get some?

A: No, it does not come with partitions.Porta Brace recommends Porta Brace LPB-LED2A Two-Light Case B&H # POLPBLED2A MFR # LPB-LED2ABut that is for two lights and that is all that will fit in the LPB-LED3 case. There are some covers not cases that might work but it depends on the specific led light one has.

Q: 3. How many regular light stands could this carry?

A: We currently use 3 heavy-duty Avenger light stands in there, with plenty of room to spare. I think you could easily get 2 more of these large stands in with no problem. If you're talking about smaller, thinner stands, I'd estimate 7-8 or more. My one piece of advice would be to get the version of this bag with wheels. We did not and it can get pretty heavy and bulky real quick.

Q: 4. Is this case good for protecting a tripod and other items inside when checking it for air travel?

A: For higher tripod protection demand we suggest the HPRC 6300 HPRC 6300 Wheeled Hard Resin Case with Tripod Holder Kit (Black) BH #HP6300WTRIBK • MFR #HPRC6300WTRIBLB https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1618169-REG/hprc_hprc6300wtriblb_6300_wheeled_rolling_resin.html

Q: 5. Does the monitor need the stand attached for safe transport? I was thinking of replacing the stand with a VESA mount.

A: The Tenba Transport Air Case with Wheels for Eizo 27" Display BH #TEACE27 would accommodate the monitor without the stand but you should compensate with bubble wrap above the monitor to fill in the empty space.

Q: 6. What are the dimensions of this bag?

A: As per the specifications tab, the interior dimensions of the bag are 18 x 7.0 x 13.5 , while the exterior dimensions are 19 x 9.75 x 15 .

Q: 7. Will this case fit a NEC PA272W?

A: Yes, that's exactly what I bought for. Works great.

Q: 8. I am in Hong kong. When can we receive The goods?

A: The Porta Brace TSB-41BOR Tripod Shellpack with Wheels is a special order item that is not kept in our inventory. As such, the case would be drop-shipped directly from the manufacturer. We would not be able to provide an exact arrival date for items not in our inventory. As such, the best I can state is our website indicates this item has an estimated arrival date of 7-14 business days, depending on the manufacturer's availability. For a more updated estimate, the best I can recommend would be to e-mail us as prophoto@bhphotovideo.com with your inquiry and ask if our Purchasing Manager can check with the manufacturer to ensure the item is in stock in their inventory and if they may provide an estimated arrival for your shipping destination.

Q: 9. Will this case hold 1 Matthews Medium-Duty Maxi Stand (Black, 9.4' ) and 2 Matthews Medium Duty Stands? I've got them arranged together on the floor and I'm worried about the interior width. Eight inches seems like it might be a hair too narrow.

A: You should be able to fit 1x Matthews Medium-Duty Maxi Kit Stand (Black, 9.4' ) and 2x Matthews Medium Duty Kit Stand with Brake - Black, 7.7' in the PortaBrace TLQ-39XT Quick Tripod/Light Case (Signature Blue). It will be tight, but it is doable.

Q: 10. Can this comfortably fit a Sachtler 100mm Flowtech Tripod with a Sachtler V18P tripod head attached to it? I have ordered and tried the PortaBrace TLQB-35, (the 35" bag) and I can not close the bag because of the tripod head.

A: Yes this bag should fit your tripod.

[Yes] i had to add padding in this case however the case has a strong shell so all is good, minor addition to top this case off.

[Zipper] I have three of these bags in varying length, however the 35 is my go to bag, and has been for 15years. Endless international travel to some of the nastiest places in Africa, flying with the most dubious of carriers, and the PortaBrace TLQ35 is still in one piece and still working.

I carry a Gitzo systematic series 3 tripod & head, two manfrotto stacker stands, and a few umbrellas, grips etc. The bag itself weighs in at 2,3kgs and packed it is around 12kgs.

I can't recommend this bag enough, and only the blue one...! I would pay twice the asking amount for a new one.

[Black] This is a great daily use AND travel case for Arri and similar lighting insturments. I purchased this a few months back for a mutli-week travel shoot that had me driving and flying to mutliple locations during a short period of time. I was able to fit this case with a four-light Arri 'interview' kit, filling the stand-compartment with gels, grip accessories, scrims and extra lamps, while keeping it under the 50lb/23kg limit that most airlines want. I can simply check extra-lightweight stands in my second bag with a few more grip accessories and I've got a professional interview kit ready to travel between two bags, with better results than most checked packages without going overweight or adding extra bags.

[Black] I love this light case, it's solid and roomy for your arri lights. No trying to sit on top of it to make everything fit!

[Zipper] Like every other PortBrace case I own, this is not a bag or a case, it is a fortress. Their stuff is so strong, padded, well sized. You know your gear will last. I do have one observation... the handles are in the middle, and with a tripod, the weight is down by the head. It means when carrying over the shoulder with the strap and head down, it is perfect. When picking it up by the handles, it wants to point at the ground. I wish the handles were offset even 6 inches or so.

[Zipper] I originally bought this bag for carrying lights and stands but I've used it twice now for carrying cameras, lenses, and a tripod. well-made, highly recommend.

[Zipper] Bought one today, easily fits 2 Kupo Midi Click stands, Godox AD-S85, AD-S60, 2 x AD-300 Pro and much more!

Very comfy strap, heavy duty bag but the only downside is the bag is rather heavy and when full loaded, would break my back.

[Zipper] Keep your Movi rig built & secure while driving. This case isn't built to ship or check in on airline, only used once Movi is set up.

[Yes] All PortaBrace products that I own have been incredible. I especially love this bag. The doctor bag style opening is much better that other tripod bags and cases I have used. Also the build quality is superb. Highly recommend.

[Zipper] This bag is way bulkier than I expected, which is on me for not reading the specs in more detail. I wish Portabrace made a model half as wide on the bottom, but at the same length and height, as at this size it's quite uncomfortable and unwieldy to carry on public transit or while walking if full, both with the weight and bulk, and that's using all aluminum and carbon fiber gear. Even after trying a few strap orientations and lengths, it still sits uncomfortably on my side due to the wide flat bottom (can't put it across my back because I'm using a camera backpack to haul the rest of my gear). I just think this thing holds more gear than an average person should safely carry with a strap more than, say, half a mile, which is not ideal for an urban videographer, unless you spend your free time as a bodybuilder.

If I were buying again, I would get one of their models with wheels, or maybe the 35 which appears to be less tall too, but not narrower. Most of the time I leave this stationary as gear storage at home and for gigs just use several smaller, narrower bags, distributed evenly across my shoulders.

Positives, the build quality is superb, everything seems very well reinforced and put together. The inner straps for holding gear down are brilliant. The thicker outer pocket is brilliant for sticking mic cables (easily fits a dozen). The padded carrying strap, while a bit hard to figure out the optimal connections at first, is quite effective at not being painful even with a heavy load. People saying they use these bags for their entire career makes total sense to me, and I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of this... just not at full capacity.
