A standard zoom designed for APS-C-format Canon DSLRs, this 18-135mm lens provides a 28.8-216mm equivalent focal length range that covers wide-angle to telephoto perspectives.

The optical design incorporates one UD element and one aspherical element to minimize chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range for increased clarity.

Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.

NANO USM system utilizes both a ring type USM and an STM mechanism to realize quick and accurate focusing that is also smooth and near-silent to suit both photography and video applications. This focusing system also affords full-time manual focus control when working in the one-shot AF mode.

An Image Stabilizer compensates for up to four stops of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting when working in difficult lighting conditions and with slower shutter speeds.

A rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when working with selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.

The optional PZ-E1 Power Zoom Adapter can be used for smoother, more natural and silent zooming control when recording video.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can i use this lens at the 5D mark II? Tks

A: No it does not.

Q: 2. The specs say full-time manual focus but do you have to depress the shutter button halfway in order to override AF?

A: This lens, like most Canon EF lenses, has a switch on it to go between Manual and Auto Focus. It can be seen on the lower left hand corner of the lens in this photo, it is the switch that says AF and MF. If you are set to manual focus you will not be able to half depress the shutter button for focus. However if you are on auto focus you will be able to manually turn the focus wheel yourself if you wanted to.http://bit.ly/2kMDwCR

Q: 3. Can I use it on my canon r6 camera

A: No, the Canon EF-S 18-135mm will not mount Canon R systems. A adapter is needed in order to mount the lens Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R BH #CAMAEFRF • MFR #2971C002 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1433717-REG/canon_mount_adapter_ef_rf.html

Q: 4. Will this lens work with Panasonic GH4 and Metabones Speedbooster combination?

A: Yes, you can use this lens with a speedbooster.

Q: 5. What are the pro's and con's of the Canon 18-135mm IS-STM and IS-USM lenses?

A: This is a new lens, and is an upgrade from a previous version. It has one aspherical element, and supports the face recognition function on the C100MKII. It also has electrical contacts and notches at the bottom of the lens to allow for attachment of the PZ-E1 zoom. (older versions of this lens do not support this function)The quality, of the footage is excellent, but I have not had a chance to do a critical analysis of the focus tracking, and and face recogniion. This lens will not fit on the 5DMKIII. Because of the APC (Smaller sensor) on the C100MKII the effective focol length is 28.8-216mm, making it a great all purpose lens. It has been criticized as lesser glass when compared to Canons cinema grade lenses, and this is true, but it is every bit as good as a lens found on a Canon vid cam with a built in lens.

Q: 6. Does this lens do face tracking on a C100 MkII?

A: The following list are the lenses that can do face tracking on the C100 Mark II. The Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens is one of them. EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STMEF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STMEF-S 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS STMEF-S 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS STMEF-S 10-18mm F4.5-5.6 IS STM

Q: 7. Will this lens work with EOS 7D camera?

A: Yes, the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5 - 5.6 IS USM works with the Canon EOS 7D.

Q: 8. Does the front element rotate during auto focus?

A: The Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens has internal focusing.

Q: 9. is this lens even compatible with the D20?

A: I'm not familiar with the D20 so I really can't answer the question. I bought this lens to use on my Canon EOS Rebel XSi also known as the 450D. In the short time that I've had the lens I'm very pleased.

Q: 10. Will this lens work with 70D?

A: Yes, this lens is compatible with the Canon 70D.

[Canon EF-S] I got this with my 80D, and I use it almost all the time. Over several cameras, I have owned the 17-85, the 17-55/2.8, an 18-135 STM, but this lens beats them all. I compared it to the 17-55/2.8, and I think the 18-135 USM has as good or better image, plus the much longer range, makes it my go-to lens. Yes, f2.8 can be useful, but... I have traveled 2 weeks in Italy and a week in Israel, and a week in Austria and used this lens almost exclusively (about 3000 images). I still like a wider angle and a longer telephoto sometimes, but the versatility of this lens is great. I love the USM focusing so much. I wish the new RF18-150 used a USM focusing motor, and pretty much all the RF lower cost lenses. There cannot be enough savings to spoil the user experience of USM focusing. Very sharp in a just right size.

[7, Rounded] Good lens for a beginner. Quiet autofocus. Decent sharpness. Much better than the 18-55mm.

[67 mm (Front)] I have a Tamron 18-400, Canon 75-300 and Canon 18-55 and this lens. I've used this lens for 95% of my pictures I since I received it ( 3 weeks) . I like the Tamron but I think picture quality can be an issue at times. The 75-300 is fine but I need a lens for wide angles so I have to change to the 18-55. This lens covers most of my work (landscape, up close architecture ) and I keep the 75-300 on my SL2 for the zoom occasions. At $600 it's pricey but I think it was worth the money.

[f/22 to 38] BOY! I like this lens. I had both regular and STM versions of this lens, and the Canon EFS-18-200 mm zoom lens, before this model - and this is THE one lens you want to own for general, all-around daily and travel shooting. It does it all quite well, with reasonably good sharpness through the entire zoom range, and minimal softness and only minor color and geometric aberrations. Large, but not too big or heavy, it balances well on a camera body, and has excellent fit, finish, and appearance. This has proved a very good value and it ha held up well with much use over time. Not cheap - yet represents good value for the money. Of course, prime lenses ARE generally better, and lenses with more narrow zoom ranges, may be slightly better, but this lens delivers sharp images with good color rendition across the range. I have happily used this lens as a all-purpose lens when shooting large scale conventions where I had to capture many varied scenes, some close up, some farther away, sometimes shooting portraits, other times shooting large groups, and often shooting action indoors. As there is generally no time to change lenses to best suit the scene - one lens must do it all, and do it well, especially when some images will be selected for publication in a magazine, etc. I simply adjust for exposure and white balance, and shoot away, quickly zooming in and out to compose the shot - as focus and exposure are very accurate and reliable. AND, this is the ONE lens I would take on a trip across Europe or across the US - it covers wide to modest tele and everything in between - excellent when touring factories, breweries, distilleries (my favorite), and museums. Can ya tell I really LIKE this lens ? I think you will too. AND, buy it from B&H because NOBODY does what it does better.
Just MY take - your mileage may vary. TT

[f/3.5 to 5.6] I got myself a 90D with this lens as a kit a little while ago. I am very pleased with the performance of this lens! 18-135 mm is a very useful range, good for proximity and good for distance. Only one small issue I ran into is that the lock that keeps the lens from extending no longer functions, but that doesn't hinder the lens' ability to take good photos!

[0.28x] This lens I bought for my Canon 90D to replace the 18-55mm kit lens. So far weight of this lens for me is the only issue when I considered trying to use it on my DJI ronin sc gimbal. I kept the kit lens for gimbal only usage to solve that problem. Other than that this lens I highly recommend it if you are looking to buy your first lens for a compatible camera that can use it. Can be used for just about anything and if you still need that little boost for more zoom the 70-300mm similar lens makes a great duo!
