A: Hi Paul - you need to have a grip head on the end of the arm, to which this piece can attach. I have put lighter weight lights (like Lowel I-Lights directly clamped on the end of the arm. So if your c-stand has an arm, clamp directly or use the grip head and this piece on the arm.

[Aluminum] I purchased together the RAM Small Tough-Claw, Short Double Socket Arm, and Universal X-Grip for Large Phones as a phone holder for my car. I cannot convey how sick I am of suction cups and other cheap fasteners that fall off or break while I’m driving. This package clamps (no drilling) on the lip of the dashboard above the screen. It is SOLID. I can get it in the perfect position and it doesn’t even vibrate. I could not recommend it more. 5

[Aluminum] Ordered each of the different RAM arm lengths, and thought this might be too long. However, this is a fantastic length for my application! And I love the spring which provides extra holding while attaching my camera. 5

[Aluminum] I have used various articulating arms to attach audio & video recorders to my cage - very few work well with heavy items (a Zoom H6 for example or a 7 Atomos video recorder) - the RAM mounts product is the ONLY thing I have found that bears the weight and does not move - They are solid and dependable - I now use only these as my exclusive option for mounting peripherals. These are the best and I can not recommend them highly enough!!! 5

[7.3 x 4 x 2.8"] A central part for your RAM Mount system, the arm helps you extend your other pieces to where you want them placed. It's very easy to tighten solidly without over tightening the knob. Great if you need extra length to be able to reach your item. Recommended. 5

[1.7 lb] They were what I was looking for and glad I got them. They work real good and does a great job. I am going back to B&H Photo site and see if they have some longer than what I got already. But not in the near furture I too many things going on right now But as soom as I get a change i well; see/ 5

[1.7 lb] I recently switched from using Israeli arms to ram mounts and haven't looked back. The clamping arms really lock into the ball ends and hold whatever I need held in place really well, usually small monitors. 5
