Q: 1. how to set for voice activation ?

A: You have to select the "Auto Voice Rec" Scene in the scene select option in the menu.

Q: 2. can I record my live band practice and live karaoke? sound recorded quality?

A: I only use this to record sessions during my technical writing meetings and after all, this is sold as a voice recorder mainly for meetings, lectures, and the like. However, ensure you set the noise level and the mic sensitivity before recording songs or your band. Listen to the playback using headphones instead of the built-in speaker. Also, install the sound organizer on your PC (or download SoundOrganizer_V2001.exe)and research online what you can do with this on your PC. Try a quick recording, be conscience of elements in the room that may cause noise during recording, and play back the results. It may take some time to figure out the best distance to set the recorder from your music source for good results.

Q: 3. Is there a back light on the display? Is it readable in dark environments?

A: The display would have a back light. Unfortunately there isn't a indicator for screen brightness.

Q: 4. can you convert the audio file to a text file? PDF?

A: Possibly. This would require third-party speech to text software: Dragon Speech Recognition from Nuance.

Q: 5. How does it sound when you use the 3.5mm jack to record with a cavalier microphone?

A: You can connect a clip on mic to the 3.5mm jack, for more isolated dialog. You would get less background sound with a lavalier microphone.

Q: 6. Is there a manual gain control?

A: You can manually adjust the input sensitivity of the microphones to change the level of the recording.

Q: 7. I am a nature photographer and would like to use this recorder to record bird vocals. Will this recorder pick up sound from 25 to 50 yards away or is it strictly for close range use. I realize it would depend on the volume of the sound, so would it be useful for my purpose?

A: This product would not be sensitive enough for this application in my opinion.

Q: 8. can this take 64gb sd card?

A: Compatible Memory Cards: microSD (32 GB Max)

Q: 9. What lav mics work with this recorder, only Sony?

A: You can use just about any lav, we have recommend lavs under the accessories.

Q: 10. How do you find your previously recorded tracks? How do you ensure that you do not record over your previously recorded content?

A: To find the files recorded to the Sony ICD-PX370 Digital Voice Recorder with USB (BH # SOICDPX370) see the manual: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/627213.pdf FOLDER01" under " Recorded Files" by default. • Select " Recorded Files" from the HOME menu. • Select "Folders" - "Built-In Memory" - "FOLDER01," and then press “” . • To listen to recorded audio files stored on a microSD card, select "Folders" - "SD Card." • Select your desired file. Playback starts. Press STOP to stop playback. Press VOL -/+ to adjust the volume. The built-in speaker is provided mainly for checking recorded audio files. If you find the volume not loud enough or have difficulty in understanding what you hear, use headphones (not supplied). • When you select " Recorded Files," the file search categories of the stored files appear on the display window. • You can select one of the search categories from "Latest Recording," "Search by REC Date," "Search by REC Scene," or "Folders." The "HOLD" function will lock the device to prevent any accidental or unwanted operations.

[Black] I am using this for speech in HAM radio transmissions. My shack' is hard-surfaced and I got reports about a tin-can sound. I went with the e845 because of the 'popular price' and supercardioid polar pattern useful to reduce this effect. It worked! Of course mic-to-mouth positioning becomes more important. The net result for me is that I am getting many favorable 'signal reports' from HAMs I speak with. Several have asked about the mic and have ordered one for themselves. BTW, this replaced a Shure SM7B, and the e845 has worked better for my application. Less EQ is needed to get a balanced sound for my voice (actually, no EQ at all is working). Specifically the e845 is plugged into a Kenwood TS-590SG HF transceiver. Very happy with the e845.

[End Address] I've been using the predecessor EV ND367 mics for many years - and given them as presents to fellow musicians - I just bought this pair of EV ND76 mics as a gift for my musical partner - we all swear by them and we have never found a fault - really fine sound, noise-free, and articulate (fast enough to mic cymbals) - well-built and durable
