A 20.2MP 1/2.3" High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor pairs with the DIGIC 4+ image processor to realize notable image quality and sensitivity to ISO 3200, and also, together, form the Canon HS SYSTEM to maintain low noise results for cleaner image quality. Additionally, the sensor and processor also afford continuous stills shooting rates up to 7.2 fps and full HD 1080p video recording at 30 fps.

A versatile 12x optical zoom lens offers a 25-300mm equivalent focal length range, covering wide-angle to telephoto perspectives. This broad reach is complemented by a versatile Intelligent IS image stabilization system that minimizes the appearance of camera shake for both stills and video shooting:

Stills:

  • Normal IS corrects for a wide range of common camera movements.
  • Panning IS detects deliberate panning movements and does not compensate for lateral movements to permit desired camera movements.
  • Macro (Hybrid) IS corrects for shift-type camera shake that commonly occurs when working with close-up subject matter.
  • Tripod is a dedicated setting that automatically deactivates IS when the use of a tripod is detected since camera-based stabilization is not needed.

Video:
  • Dynamic IS is well-suited to recording at wide-angle focal lengths and reduces unwanted shaking that typically occurs when walking while recording.
  • Powered IS compensates for hand movements that become more visually discernible when working at the telephoto end of the zoom range.
  • Macro (Hybrid) IS minimizes the appearance of shake when walking as well as compensates for shift-type shake that occurs when working with close-up subject matter.
  • Active Tripod IS minimizes the slight amount of shake that can happen when recording video while using a tripod.

Built-in Wi-Fi with NFC allows you to wirelessly share your photos and movies with a linked smartphone or tablet as well as remotely control the camera from the mobile device by using the Camera Connect app. A dedicated Wi-Fi button is also featured on the camera body to expedite the process of connecting with a smartphone or tablet and sharing imagery between devices.

A large 3.0" 461k-dot LCD monitor is available for composing imagery, navigating the menu, and reviewing photos and videos.

Hybrid Auto records up to four seconds of video prior to taking a still photo, and then automatically combines the two types of imagery into a video recap.

Creative Shot mode utilizes various compositional, color, and lighting elements from an original image in order to produce a new, unique image with artistic flair.

Story Highlights can automatically produce a highlight reel, comprised of videos and photos from a day or an event, and then add music and effects for playback.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How is the shutter lag - the time between pressing the shutter & the photo being taken? Does flash/no flash affect lag?

A: It is reasonable for the type of camera it is. Flash will add a tiny amount of time as it measures how much flash to use.

Q: 2. wondering I have a Canon PowerShot SX40 HS Digital Camera, I have used it twice, its too heavy for me, I am looking for something with wifi, anyone know which is better the Canon PowerShot ELPH 360 or the 610 was leaning towards the 610 anyone? also where would I sell me Canon powershot SX40 its like brand new...I am a 62 year old who just wants to point and shoot grandchildren and post them to facebook thanks :)

A: Most of the canon's are similar until you get into the higher end range. It's just a matter of what features you want or not. I have the 360 and it's fine for what it does. I have 2 other canon's, this is my point and shoot. You can sell back to B&H or ebay.

Q: 3. Is a new memory card included? Or does it need to be purchased separately?

A: The Canon PowerShot ELPH 360 HS Digital Camera (Silver) does not come with a memory card. There are many compatible memory cards. This is one, https://bhpho.to/3ELwwiH

Q: 4. what would you recommend the Canon elpha 360 or the Canon powershot sx 610 or the 360 ?

A: I have the Canon ELpha 360 and I don't like it, I'm going to be returning it. Shutter speed is slow and the multi photo setting does not allow you to print the photo. I have had Canon cameras before and this one is not worth the money

Q: 5. I Just purchased the Elph 360 Hs. it came with an NB-11LH 3.6V 800mAh battery. I also purchase a spare battery. it is a NH-11L 3.7V 600mAh battery. is it safe to use it since the characteristics are not identical?

A: The difference in voltage and mAH is not a problem. The battery will work fine.

Q: 6. Is the built-in wifi compatible with iOS 11.4?

A: I have windows 7. I had to call my Dell Technical supportin changing my computer setting. This was not easy. I followthe given from youtube that help. But when it came to findthe camera I had to call Microsoft to show me.

Q: 7. What is the battery life like? With a tiny battery, reliance on a screen and a flash that seems to like to go off a lot.

A: The Canon ELPH 360 HS is powered by NB-11LH battery which provides a battery life for Still Images of approximately 180 shots or approximately 256 with Eco mode on. For Movies approximately 40 mins recording time. Approximately 4 hours of Playback Time.

Q: 8. do you have to use a memory card?

A: Yes, a memory card is needed for the Elph 360.

Q: 9. What thread size does this have for a tripod?

A: It is the Standard Size. We use the same tripod for a larger camera w/lots of different lens - and use for this smaller camera as well.

Q: 10. Which alph is the best

A: There is no single Canon ELPH camera that is best--it all depends on what you need it to do. It’s small and compact, making it very easy to carry around. The quality of the photos is also fantastic. Overall, I’m enjoying using this camera and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and simple option.

[461,000 Dot] This is a great little camera. Very small and easily portable and it can do some things a phone can't, like zoom in with a true zoom. I have bought three of these over the years. One I dropped while the lens was extended and it couldn't be fixed so I immediately bought the exact same camera.
I've had the 2nd camera about five and a half years and just recently I've had some issues focusing on butterflies especially when zooming in. I'm not 100% sure it's the camera but I went ahead and bought a third one of this same model, for comparison, and even if it turns out there's nothing wrong with the second camera, now I have a spare.
This camera was out of stock everywhere when I went shopping for it. I signed up to be notified when it became available and B&H notified me just a few days later.
Price has gone up incredibly compared to 5 years ago, inflation, yada yada; I bit the bullet and bought it anyway, I like this camera that much.
I am on Windows 10 and sometimes the phone does not want to connect wirelessly to download pix. Restarting the pc and pulling the battery out of the camera for a full minute fixes it. You can also download via cable which is not included. You need a special oddball camera/usb cable which you may find at a thrift store as well as new.

[Yes, Flash Only] It’s hard to find a reliable, quality small pocket camera for under $1,000 these days! The Elph hit the sweet spot. Great photos right out of the box! Will be perfect for travel and for those of us who are hobby photographers and hate to rely on our phones..

[3.0"] Looked around for a while trying to find a compact point and shoot for my wife like the ones we had growing up and was surprised to see so few options in the more affordable price range of sub $500. We tried a few competitors but the controls were weird, or the size was too large, or it didn’t have flash or zoom. This one fits the bill perfect, and it was a bit cheaper than the ones we had tried.

She loves the slight purple tint of the silver finish on it, and we both feel a lot of nostalgia every time we pull it out to take a picture. The only quirk we found was an issue with the SD card we tried, apparently the read/write speeds were too slow for this camera and it would get caught in a black screen with flashing light and “busy” screen if we tried to view a picture we had taken, and it made scrolling through those photos insanely slow and frustrating. Thankfully the solution was a new SD card with much faster speeds, and now it cycles through the photos much quicker without the busy screen. Overall a really nice throwback to the cameras we grew up with and I can’t overstate how compact it is, it’s so easy to take it anywhere. The battery seems to last a long time, but spares are cheap so we stocked up on a couple of those too. 10/10!
