Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the spacing of the two countersunk mounting holes?

A: I had the question. This plate is specifically designed to Mount DSLR cameras, mirrorless cameras and the Kessler Pocket Jib Traveler to the Kwik Release Receiver (From the Kessler website.) It does work as stated, but is not much use for anything else. I used it to mount the Kessler Pocket Jib Traveler to Kessler's Kwik Release Receiver, and it worked great for that, but, it is not a strong mount. I used it on my Sachtler Ace tripod, and it would give a little, so I suggest sandbagging down the tripod legs if you go in this direction. Since it is a specific tool, I don't think measurements are all that important.

Q: 2. Does this provide proper vertical spacing on the rods for the Canon C500 mk II for a mattebox?

A: no this will not work for the canon C500 MKii

Q: 3. Does the plate actually weigh 1 lb? That seems kind of high, didn't know if the weight was referring to the shipping weight ...thanks

A: Yea it does. If not exactly, it's close to it. It's a solid piece of metal. Still holding up for me no prob.

Q: 4. How is the balance and usability when using this on a Cineslider with a larger camera rig, since the payload is then offset on the Cineslider?

A: There should be no issues when using this for balance. You will just need to make sure you have enough support under the slider.

Q: 5. Can you use this to mount a Kessler Cineslider to 100mm bowl-size tripod legs?

A: Yes. This item BH #KETH1019 allows and users to mount flat items like the underside of the Cineslider to the 100 mm bowl based Kessler Tripod System.

Q: 6. Are these wheels inflatable with air? Please reply if so what is the max pressure?

A: These are not inflatable wheels.

Q: 7. does this crane need a specific kind of tripod?

A: The base of the Pocket Jib has a 3/8 -16 screw hole so it will mount to the base of any standard tripod leg. You will just want to make sure the tripod you use is rated to support the total payload.

Q: 8. Will the inner part support a 75mm video head? I'm interested in it because it says that it will remain flat in a 75mm bowl tripod (which helps with sliders). I have the carbon 645 Fast from Manfrotto.

A: The Kessler Crane 100mm Ball Kit adapts flat-base tripod heads to 100mm as well as 75mm bowl tripods.

Q: 9. will the bottom of this plate sit flat on the table ?? with the plate attached to the camera ?

A: No, it will not. It has two screw heads protruding. They serve as catches so the plate does not slide out of the head.

Q: 10. Can 2 Kwik Rails be combined, safely, to lengthen the Kwik Rail Legs? Would any additional bracing be required to minimize Leg flex?

A: Such a combination has not been tested by Kessler or B&H and thus this is not warranty supported and as such not recommended.

[8 lb] I bought this tripod and the Kessler 100mm Ball Kit to support our Gluidecam Camcrane 200, after considering a number of alternatives. This set up is solid, and handles the weight and the inertia of the crane. Very Satisfied.

[50 x 5 x 5"] Long after humans have disappeared from the earth, this tripod will still be supporting my crane. Seriously strong, well built.

[50 x 5 x 5"] Very well built, heavy duty Tripod for a crane or a Jib. The legs lock very positively so you don't have to worry about slipping. Get the wheels. They are worth the investment.

[5' / 1.5 m] Awesome base for the Kessler

[5' / 1.5 m] I already own a small Kessler crane, and their Hercules head, connected with their superbly sturdy quick release system. I tried using a locally sourced (Australia) Manfrotto 20kg rated tripod to save money, but it was a false saving. One leg clamp slid down while I had a crane, weights, camera, monitor and pan/tilt head attached! Adjusting with an Alan key fixed it, but made me nervous about future wear and slippage. An urgent order through to B&H and the super solid K-Pod arrived. It is heavy - for a reason. Sturdily built with indented stops for the legs prevent any chance of slippage. After all, it is built to carry a person on a seat with their K-Flex add-on dolly system. Only one slight quibble. The soft bag doesn't fully close near to the tripod leg knobs. Perhaps this will change after the bag has been used for a while and gets more flexible.

[8 lb] You'll see a lot of comments about how this system is built like a tank. I don't necessarily think so. Now, no offence against tanks but I think this tripod system might survive an HE round better than most tanks! Okay, so I didn't test this particular conjecture but suffice to say it's heavy-duty! The other thing I really like about it is the concept of the lock pockets. I didn't know if I'd like them or not but what it does is makes it really easy to raise and lower the legs to a consistent length. Naturally, you can't set the legs precisely to a desired length, as you can't set it between the lock pockets - but there are enough of them to get close to any desired length that I'll likely need. And, with the bowl you can easily set the head to true (I'm using the Hercules 2.0 head.) The heavy duty nature of the system allows me to easily, quickly and securely move between my Kessler slider or any number of cameras. This requires the use of the Kessler Kwik release system - and I highly recommend that as well. All in all, I'm extremely happy with the purchase. Not the lightest system out there but definitely among the sturdiest and most secure. If you want to attach a slider (mine is 3') and not worry about wobble, this system will work well for you.

[8 lb] Made right. Stout enough for whatever I want to mount to it, crane/jib, slider, camera head. The only thing I would improve is a way to lock the legs in closed position for transport, instead of the included strap. reasonable price.
