A: No, this device does not convert 1080P to 4K.....4K is 4 times the resolution of 1080P (think 4 1080P signals combined). This device takes a video signal on an HDMI cable and converts it to an SDI cable. Why convert to an SDI cable? Because SDI cables can carry a video signal MUCH further than an HDMI cable can a video signal. What kind of input signals can this device handle and convert to SDI? It can handle video resolutions of 4K, 1080P and lower. But all it s does is convert the input signal from HDMI cable to SDI cable, it does not change the input resolution.....what goes in is what goes out....just over a different kind of cable that can handle longer distances than HDMI can handle. A: If the main stream is 4k over SDI the output of the converter will be setup to what the receiver, lcd or recorder wants. As long as the recorder is setup to receive and communicate to the converter it wants 4k that’s what will be available.
