[0.38 lb] I fill heavy duty plastic freezer bags with 12 pounds sand and slide them into these. These are a must for weighting light stands outdoors, if there is any breeze at all. And, I use them as a safety precaution on light stands indoors. I also use them for weighting the leading edge of seamless background paper, and marking extension cords that are snaking across the studio floor. I have found them handy when trying to counterbalance a large umbrella, or a strobe on a boom arm. The bright orange color is a positive feature. People see them.

[0.38 lb] Well made, double zipper and seems durable. Like someone else suggested, I placed all purpose sand inside a ziplock bag, then placed it inside another ziplock bag. Sure it's a bit much, but won't make a mess.

[Nylon] Great bag for the money. I stuffed mine with packets of hundred dollar bills, but sand will work just as well. Zipper appears sturdy--this is a good thing since zippers are an obvious stress point in any bag construction. I feel confident I'll get years of reliable service. I use it with my new SV 8-foot Air Cushion 4 Section Light Stand.

[1] These empty sandbags are handy to have in the field because you can carry them empty and fill them with rocks or whatever's available (I recommend putting items in a Ziploc first). The bags have two zippered pockets and each pocket has two zippers for added durability. I like the bright color-- easy to see, so the stand doesn't get tripped over, and so the bags aren't forgotten.

[1] I use these sandbags primarily to weigh down my tripod so it doesn't lift up off the riser. I use slingshot ammo or ball bearings to fill the bags. Works well. I haven't had a camera fall out of a window, yet...

[Zipper] Heavy Duty product, double-zippers keep fill contained, well made. I filled them with 6-7 lbs of steel shot (in plastic)... I have no concerns about over-filling (above the 5-lb stated capacity)
