Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens work on the Sony ax6400 camera

A: Yes, the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens is fully compatible with a Sony a6400 camera.

Q: 2. What does the button on the side of the lens do?

A: It's programmable, and you can assign it which ever of dozens of functions you'd like. I personally keep it on Eye AF, and keep focus hold on the back toggle of my a7 series

Q: 3. Will this fit a Panasonic Lumix GH5s?

A: The Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens with UV Filter Kit is only compatible with Sony E-mount cameras. The Panasonic Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 II ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens is compatible with the Panasonic GH5. This lens will have the same angle of view on the GH5 as the above lens will have on a full frame Sony camera. Here is the link: https://bhpho.to/2oca8Ku

Q: 4. I'm looking for a leather case that would work well with this lens. Preferably the original Sony leather case/pouch. Do you have any recommendations?

A: We currently have 2 leather case which will fit this lens. BH #KEKMBHRTLNCS and B&H# HAXALLP. This last option will have the rear lens cap expose. Unfortunately Sony does not make leather lens cases or pouch.

Q: 5. Is the autofocus motor silent when recording video?

A: This is pro quality lens. Smaller and lighter then Canon and Nikon. This is silent and fast auto focus lens.

Q: 6. Is this lens compatible with the Sony alpha 7 IV ?

A: Yes, the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens can work with the Sony A7 IV.

Q: 7. I use the a7s II for video. When using Sony's wired remote, will this lens be able to achieve smooth power-type zooms? Or is this only a feature of lenses such as Sony's E PZ? I'm looking for a zoom lens that will let me shoot 4K footage using a full frame sensor.

A: The Zoom function of this lense is manual not powered.

Q: 8. If you use this lens on the fs5, will it affect the focal length and aperture range because of the smaller sensor ?

A: The smaller sensor just affects the 'effective' focal length. In other words, if your processor is an APS-C format from Sony or Nikon, the effective focal length will be 1.5 times the nominal - given this lens is made for a full frame 24x36mm sensor. The aperture range will be the same - so, no deterioration or alteration Vs a full frame. In other words, f=2.8 is f=2.8 for both sensors.

Q: 9. Does the zoom happen in the body of the lens or does it extend the lens length? Very important to know when balancing on a gimbal.

A: The lens' length extends when this lens is zoomed.

Q: 10. Can I still use eye focus with this lens on my a9?

A: Eye AF works well for me with this lens on an A-9.

[82 mm (Front)] Phenomenal piece of glass! Mostly a fast prime enthusiast, I did not expect lo like the 24-70mm GMII this much. Super
Sharp and contrasty with flexibility for composition. Feels significantly smaller and lighter than version I.

[82 mm (Front)] Excellent build and image quality. Only lens I carry full time. Manual focus works very well when I need it.

[Sony E] This was my first lens with a Sony A7RV. It's hard to mess up a shot even for a beginner.

[Sony E] For a workhorse lens for when my video business requires high quality stills. I was looking at the Sigma and Tameron as well. I was able to borrow the Sony for several days. I also got to briefly handle the other, but only for less than a few minutes - hardly a test of any kind. The Sony produced absolutely terrific images, especially when viewed on large monitors. Under some time pressure, I had to make a decision and went with the Sony. Others rave about the Sigma and Tameron, but neither had the satisfying heft (not weight; I can't put it into words) of the Sony. Also, I preferred the feel of the Sony's focus and zoom rings over the two competitors. Yes, the Sony, comparatively speaking, is really heavy and really expensive, but, oh the images that come from it!

[f/2.8] I bought this lens over a year ago and it barely ever comes off my A7riii - I've done product shots, portraits, video, landscape, time-lapses, long exposures - you name it I've done it all with this lens. Photography is expensive and I get that the price tag is nothing to scoff at but if you're truly looking for that "do it all" lens this really can't be matched.

The only minior complaint that I have with this lens is that is basically ruins the form factor of a mirrorless camera. It's very big and heavy and does not play nicely with most gimbal set ups

[0.24x] I got this lens a few weeks ago and have tested it a number of times. My decision to trade in the Canon 24-70 2.8 IS USMII with the Sony converter was a good one. This lens is perhaps a bit sharper but the main improvement was better edge to edge sharpness across the frame at all fstps from 2.8 to 11. And of course not needing the converter resulted in faster and more accurate auto focus, a bit less weight and length and faster to change lens since no conversion is necessary. If you're thinking of upgrading in that focal length range or looking to buy new it the right choice if you're ok with spending that much. Its a great all purpose lens.

[Full-Frame] b&h fast shipping is second to none. i placed my order yesterday around 11am and received it approximately 10am today but i wasn't home at the time to test it out until now. the result is astonishing!
it's quite heavy in both aspects the weight and on my wallet ( giggle ). however it delivered sharp images in a few attempts without reading the manual. it did very well in low light room with flash used. the photo below was shot with following setting f4.0/70mm/flash used in ttl mode/iso 320/ exposure time 1/60s.

[Full-Frame] I have been using this with my A7Riii and they pair for high quality photos. It has sparked my photography and gotten me out shooting more. I'm so excited to have this lens! The only down side is that it's a bit heavy, but I guess that comes with the territory.
