Emulating the touch and feel of classic artist etching pads and handmade paper, Epson Legacy Etching Paper 17" x 50' Rolloffers a slightly textured matte surface with all the advantages of modern paper-making technology. Available as a 17" x 50' roll, this 100% cotton fiber paper offers users a heavy basis weight of 314 gsm and a thickness of 20 mil. It also manages an excellent 96% brightness and 99% whiteness without the use of any optical brightening agents. Furthering longevity, the paper is acid & lignin free and pH buffered.

A: This paper roll has a 3 core.

Q: 4. So, gloss canvas still has to be coated?

A: Coating a printed image is never required. It is optional but highly recommended for added protection.

Q: 5. Has anyone tried this paper with Epson et 8550?

A: Yes. I use Epson Print Layout for printing and I am happy with black and white prints on this paper when I use the ABW mode (media type = Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster, tone = dark). An ICC profile for color printing is available on the Epson website.

Q: 6. Where can I find IIC profiles for this paper and a Epson 3880?

Q: 7. Can this be used in an Epson SureColor P400?

A: Yes, the Epson Glossy Exhibition Canvas Archival Inkjet Paper can be used in a Surecolor P400.

Q: 8. Does this paper contain optical brighteners? And if so, do we have any information on archival quality? Would there be a difference in longevity of b&w vs. color prints?

A: Exhibition Fiber is a 325-gsm paper with an exceptional white base and is capable of deep, rich blacks. While it has a fiber paper base and is acid-and lignin-free, it does contain optical brighteners. According to Wilhelm Research, framed under UV glass using pigment inks, they say about 150 years. Album/dark storage is around 200 years.This is for both black and white, and color using pigment inks.

Q: 9. does this paper compatible with Epson R3000 printer?

A: Not sure, but works well with the Pro-3800

Q: 10. Does this paper use the Photo Black or Matte Black cart in the P600/P800?

A: The Epson Legacy Fibre Paper (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets) uses a smooth matte black.

[20 x 7 x 7"] Lagacy Etching is my go-to paper for fine art images, both in Black and white and color. The ICC was right on and provided a great foundation for the color prints. 5

[20 x 7 x 7"] I avoided trying this paper until very recently. I was very happy with Epson Hot Press Natural and didn't like the price of the Legacy Etching. But I wanted to test other papers and bought a box. It's now my favorite paper. I currently print with an Epson 7890 and using the Epson profile, the edge goes to Etching. The differences are subtle, primarily in the shadow detail, but it's enough to warrant the price difference, to me. 5

[314 gsm] I used to use the Ilford Gold Fibre Silk, which seemed a favorite of many (which caused much distress when it was discontinued). I've printed the same photo on both papers to compare and find that the Legacy Platine one looks a little better. 5

[99%] This paper has a pleasant, unobtrusive luster surface, a wide color gamut, and excellent blacks. It has a nice heft; it feels quite substantial in the hand. No OBAs and none are needed to give properly-exposed images plenty of pop. 5

[6.2 lb] Epson Legacy Platine is among my favorites. It is as if I were printing back in my we darkroom days. I do a lot of B&W and this paper has amazing tonal range, deep blacks, and sparkling highlights. 5

[Single] I wanted to print longer than 22 inches on my Epson SC-P900 printer so roll paper was my only option. I chose Legacy Platine because of its finish and thickness. I had purchased the Legacy Sample pack and printed the same print on the different Legacy papers so I could see the difference between each type. I do a lot of landscape photography so a broad color spectrum and strong blacks is important to me and I felt that Platine was a good choice. It printed fine and I have some great prints. 5
