[433 MHz (RF)] I shoot and edit massive film projects in BC, Canada which requires a reliable follow focus system . Honesly, I have been using other type of follow focus for the past few years. And this particular FF system from Cinegears is a piece of are. It's all Metal around which makes it very durable compare with others. And the motor itself is compact and have tons of torque. Rencently I received there upgraded V2.0 FF. The design of there power cable and the location for input is very intuitive. Plus the build in circus system seems to be a great benefit to me(used to plug in the wrong cable and break things). By the way, there customer service located right in North America. I have been getting instant reponses from them whenever I need their help. The best part is ,this unit helped me get rid of the Rental cost ! ! !

[LiPo] I purchased the 203 version of this follow focus (one generation back) secondhand and immediately I noticed the modern design and solid quality. The thing that sets a professional follow focus apart from the lesser expensive versions is the machining tolerances. Chrosziel manufactures this unit with very low tolerances meaning there are no gaps or wiggle room where there shouldn't be. The gearing mechanism is smooth and performs as expected. The marking discs click into place with a satisfying snap. The knob handle is large enough to firmly grab onto but not overbearingly large. It has a slim profile and fits well into cases etc. Don't skimp on getting a cheap follow focus, it's an integral part of what makes a movie, focus!

[433 MHz (RF)] This pocket-sized follow focus works like a charm with my compact Sony FX3 set up I primarily use for wedding videography.


I called the Shape customer service because of some concerns I had prior to purchasing the follow focus and I'm glad I did! They were super quick to answer and very helpful. When you talk to these guys, you immediately understand they are from the film industry.

This follow focus is well built, lightweight and has virtually no backlash.

[433 MHz (RF)] I received the MagicFIZ a couple days before a shoot. I spent a very frustrating day trying to calibrate it and It. Just. Wouldn’t. Work. After watching numerous tutorials, I gave up and returned it for an exchange.

I’m happy to report that the new unit performs flawlessly - right out of the box it calibrated the way it should.

I have no idea if this is a common issue, but keep in mind that you may have received a defective unit if you’re pulling your hair out.

Now that I have a working unit I can tell you that the MagicFIZ provides a pretty seamless experience. I had considered going for the new Tilta, but I really like being able to power the motor with the battery plate, it makes for a really clean, cable-free setup. At the end of the day, both do the same thing, focus a lens, so the convenience of one less cable made me stay with the MagicFIZ.

[433 MHz (RF)] For its price I don't think this unit can be beat. Love how it holds the position after powering off (as long as you don't remove the motor from the lens.) You also have different power options for the motor and you have the flexibility to control two motors if you add the hand grip and another motor.

[433 MHz (RF)] I was nervous ordering this follow focus because I could not find reviews anywhere, I took a leap of faith and it paid off. I was looking for a follow focus that I could invest into one time and expect it to last through different camera rigs and many years. I like the form factor of the Arri studio Follow focuses and I wanted to try to find one like the Arris but at a lower price. This follow focus seems to be the cheapest in the professional studio class and I think stands up the same as a Chrosziel, O'Connor or Arri. You can feel the quality on this Follow focus everything is made out of aluminum except of the marking disks and parts of the focus wheel. I can see this unit being able to take quite a beating. I like that every this is adjustable, you have the choice of three different gears (all 0.8 pitch) that can mount on either side of the belt drive arm and the arm its self can move to either side of the unit. The focus wheel can come out and it looks to have the same sized shaft as an Arri so you might be able to get different wheels and such for it. Out of the box you can either mount to 19mm rods of 15mm light weight.One thing I appreciate is the inclusion of a 64 tooth gear along with the standard 43tooth gears, when I first put the unit on my camera rig the 42tooth gears were too small to reach my small photographic lenses but with the 64tooth gear it was not a problem and I almost guarantee there is no lens it could not reach.I will say there is a very minuscule amount of play in the unit but not enough that I would pay another few grand for a more expensive follow focus. The included whip SUCKS it would just turn in place as I tried to pull focus, it's about as useful as over cooked spaghetti. Everything else in the kit is great though!All in all this thing is great!!!!

[LiPo] I found this particular unit at the NAB 2016 show in LV. This unit is very compact, it may looks small, But it will handle all the daily work as all the other FF unit.It helps me cut a lot of cord mass between me and the camera. If you want something easy to carry and can handle the same project as your other heavy FF unit. This is your perfect Gear !
