Attaching the Movcam FS7 15mm Standard Kit Gold Mountto the bottom of the Sony FS7 camera increases the mounting surface area and keeps it flat. The top surface is specially shaped to fit exactly with the FS7's contours. With the expanded surface area, a shoulder pad or tripod plate can be placed anywhere along the bottom of the camera for optimal balance with different lenses or rig components. The base of the plate is also Arca-Swiss compatible for securing to Arca-Swiss standard support equipment. Aside from camera support, the front of the plate can house a lens/adapter support to reduce stress on the camera's lens mount.

A: Unfortunately the Movcam dovetails do not follow the ARRI dovetail standard.

A: Yes, this cage allows the attachment of the GH5S Time Code cable. You can see that the connection is not obstructed in the main image on the web page.

Q: 3. Will this fit an FS7 on a Tilta-Rig baseplate? It looks long, I wonder if it will jam into the 15mm rail mounts on the back of the Tilta plate.

A: I'll answer my own question.... as I went and bought the thing...Yes the plate too long (tall) to fit an FS7 on a Titla rig base plate but you can take the back 15mm rail mounts off of the Tilts and you are good to go.

Q: 4. Will this also work for the FS5?

A: No, this does not fit the PXW-FS5. This device has to fit into the camera's battery box plus fits into screws that are on top of the PXW-FS7. The PXW-FS5's viewfinder would also be in the way of this fitting.

Q: 5. Will a Sony A7ii fit in this cage?

A: We have not tested this so the combination is unknown. The a7S is (WxHxD) 5.0 x 3.7 x 1.9 / 126.9 x 94.4 x 48.2 mm. The a7II is (WxHxD)5.0 x 3.8 x 2.4 / 126.9 x 95.7 x 59.7 mm. The big dimension of width is the same. The height is 1.3 mm's different: I do not think this will be a deal breaker. The front to back is 11mm bigger but I think that is less an issue. Besides the size, access to the battery and all controls are a consideration with any cage. At this time we will have to wait for Movcam to come out with a a7II cage to be sure.

Q: 6. Does this come with everything shown in the photo (apart from the camera and xlr unit obviously)? Just making sure it comes with the little extention shown in the photo that puts the handle out in front/above the xlr unit. Thanks

A: It comes with what you see including the handle and it's mounting bracket.

Q: 7. It is compatible with RED Gemini S35 5K ?

A: Yes, this is for DSMC2 bodies. The RED Gemini is a DSMC2 body.

Q: 8. Will this also work with the FS5?

A: Yes, you can use this with the FS5 for it shares the same batteries and voltage with the FS7. You will have to use a 15mm LWS plus get a Wooden Camera WC-156600 Battery Slide or equivalent. You will give up the use of the rear viewfinder.

Q: 9. WIll this cage also work with the new Sony A7ii?

A: IT DOES NOT WORK. I found this out the hard way. The cameras do NOT have the same body measurements, there are subtle differences that are enough to make A7ii incompatible with this cage. It doesn't fit/grip securely, which is why you get a cage. There's a youtube video that has details of the physical differences, search Sony a7II vs Sony a7S Comparison .
