The Movcam UM-1 Digital Motor Camera Stabilizerfrom Movcam UM-1 Digital Motor Camera Stabilizerprovides precise repeatable control of your focus, zoom, or iris ring, and is suitable for use with both prime lenses and most zooms. It is available for users that want to upgrade their single axis system to a dual axis system. You can adjust the torque of the motor. This enables fine tuning your motor to your lens for optimal performance and minimal stress on your lens.

Simply press and hold the button on your motor to automatically calibrate it to your lens. Additionally, you can reverse the direction on the motor when using lenses that don't follow the cinema standard for rotation direction. The motor natively mounts on a 19mm rod, but will also mount on a 15mm rod when using the included 19 to 15mm adapter sleeve.

The included 0.8 MOD gear fits cine-style lens gears. The gear is removable, so you can swap it out for optional gears for video lenses and non-standard lens gears.

You can calibrate the motor to your lens by holding down the calibrate button for three seconds.

The motor drive is reversible, which allows you to use lenses that focus in the opposite direction from standard without having to add a physical reversing gear.

Works with MRS-1 control or MAF-1 auto focus systems.

Q: 1. Does this riser block & the corresponding base plate fit the Movcam A7sii cage?

A: The Movcam A7SII cage has a different riser block, which we do not yet have available for a separate purchase. We do however have the Movcam Sony A7II/A7SII/A7RII Accessories Kit which comes with the handle, cage, riser block and base plate available at this time.

Q: 2. Can anyone confirm that the integrated plate on the base of this cage is an standard arca Swiss type and if it is will this attach directly to a quick release such as the Kessler quick release system ?

A: The dovetail is not compatible with Arca Swiss.

Q: 3. Without the riser is there a 1/4-20 screw thread at the bottom of this cage?

A: Yes, there are 3 1/4 mounts on the bottom of the cage. Don't hesitate, you'll love it!

Q: 4. Is Arca-Swiss plate compatible with Really Right Stuff lever clamps? (Not all Arca plates are compatible.)

A: While we were not able to test the Movcam GH5 cage, we did a test mount of the Movcam Sony a7S cage with a RRS lever clamp ball head successfully. It is our opinion that you should not have any issues with your intended configuration.

Q: 5. Does this include the lens support screw that attaches to a metabones adapter?

A: yes

Q: 6. Does the end of this grip (the interior aluminum post) have a -20 thread tap? If I wanted to change the grip, is that possible?

A: The Movcam Anti-Skid Handgrip does not have a 1/4"-20 thread anywhere on it. It will attach via a rosette at its end. We do not sell replacement grips for this handle.

Q: 7. What size hex key is needed for the screws included with the cage?

A: Hi,There are no hex screws on this cage. Just ordinary screws for a flat drive. Best!Svein Ommundsen

Q: 8. Hi! Is this able to mount on the LWS Baseplate for a7s?

A: While many 15mm rod system components are interchangeable, I do not see how this Movcam item would work with any Chrosziel LWS baseplate.For a Sony a7s 15mm rod system with handles, may I suggest this one? The SHAPE handles are my favorite of any I have used because they easily change but are rock solid.

Q: 9. I am assuming this model does not fit the A7S2. But cant find a model that does. Does this fit the A7S2 or A7R2?

Q: 10. What size step down adapter is needed for the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens?

A: The Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens's outside diameter is 105.13mm. According to Movcam, they do not have an adapter that will fit that and their mattebox. While we do not have an adapter that is exactly the right size, we can suggest this one that might work. Birns & Sawyer 114-105mm Clamp Reducer Ring B&H # BIRR105. If this does not work, then you would have to go with a 15mm LWS and the Movcam Universal Stretch Donut (144 mm) B&H # MOARU144.

[Auto] Thats the review, LOL. Don't mess with the RedRock Micro motors unless you like to have endless problems. The next cheapest option for the Movi Pro with use on the Movi controller is the Chrosziel. Most pros use the Heden's but this works just fine, plug it in and set to Chrosziel in Movi controller FIZ setup and boom ready to go. 5

[Auto] This is exactly what I needed to complete my BMCC-ENG rig, which is built on the Tilta BS-T03. To complete the package I really needed a handle that I could attach to rig on the front right side 15mm rod, that was placed it close to the lens axis and near my body, as this would allow me to both hold the camera steady with my right arm whist have my upper arm in a position against my chest to make it comfortable to hold the rig for extended periods. My left hand is then completely free to operate focus, zoom and aperture rings on my lenses (note that I'm not using ENG lenses with this rig). This set up works perfectly, and it is very compact. But more importantly, it is a properly balanced system when sitting on the shoulder - unlike many BMCC rigs available which feature the two outboard front-facing handles with the shoulder pad attached to the rear rods making them way too front heavy and difficult to hold for extended periods. I'm also using a LanParte LANC Controller for Blackmagic cameras (B&H # LANC01) on the handle to control the camera recording function. The Tilta BS-T03 quick-release baseplate allows me to attach/detach the camera rig quickly from my heavy-duty tripod via the use of a VCT-U14 tripod plate adapter on the tripod head. I can't recommend this setup highly enough. This beats the other style rigs hands down, ... literally as well as figuratively. 5

[Auto] This cage fits the A7S perfectly, makes it feel so secure and ready for any task thrown at it. Also, an unexpected plus is that it added the perfect amount of weight for my glidecam hd-4000. 5

[Auto] I used this for the Sony A7s. It fits the camera super well. At first I thought the cage is too tight, but I came to appreciate its compactness. I have its based attached to my camera permanently. The other sides can be removed or attached on if you need them. The whole case came off in 5 parts so configure them any ways you want. The only thing I think it clumsy is the part that secure the micro HDMI to the A7s body. It is too tight and easy to fall off. 5

[Auto] Simply put, you can not get a better cage for the A7s. I'm currently running a Zoom H6, NTG-2, and Sennheiser 112p-G3 all mounted on top of the cage, and it works beautifully. If you own an A7s, do yourself a favor and buy this cage now. 5

[Auto] This product is exactly what I needed. It's durable and sturdy and allows me to nicely mount to any surface using a quarter 20 screw. It really helps to steady my handheld shots and is a great value for the price. Don't settle for imitations. This MovCam cage is the real deal! 5

[Auto] Works Perfect! It is my First follow focus and it is very simply to use. Very good service and contact with sellers. Fo every questions i have fast feedback. Magnum its automatic calibrate and fast. He has a several options preset. It is also good work with hard cinema lenses and ring for lens. I recommend this product to professional work. In our TV also use this systems. 5

[Auto] Haven’t used it a ton yet. But compared it to the Teradek motor, and the Heden MV26 (paired with a It’s definiteky quieter and smaller - and about half the weight of the Teradek, which was already pretty light. I dig the ingenious rod clamp that adapts to either 15 or 19mm internally without the need for an adapter that you could lose. I am using it with my Chrosziel Magnum 200. Has no problem pulling stiffer cinema lenses. The only potential negative is that the cable that runs to the receiver is fixed. So while that reduces weight with the reduced connector, if the cable gets damaged, your motor is out of commission until the motor cable is repaired (taking the whole motor out of use). I intend on having a backup motor. Given that Chrosziels system is compatible with other brands of motors (unlike the Teradek), should be easy to find one to swap in. 5
