The E-Image EK50AAM Fluid Drag Video Head and Tripod is a video head and dual stage tripod leg system designed for video cameras weighing up to 13.2 pounds. The head has fixed pan and adjustable tilt fluid drag for smooth camera movements. The included quick release (QR) plate attaches to your camera with either of the included 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 camera tie-down screws. With the camera attached, the QR plate snaps into the cradle, which quickly and securely attaches your camera to the tripod head. The QR plate release system features a safety mechanism to help prevent accidentally releasing of the plate. The head also features an integrated forward/backward sliding plate which allows you to balance the camera on the head for optimal operation on a shot-by-shot need.

The tripod legs are made of an anodized aluminum alloy, with a fixed mid-level spreader and rotary clamping leg locks. The foot spikes are covered by removable anti-slip pads, and an integrated elastic leg wrap helps keep the legs closed for transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the tripod turn 90 degrees so that I can shoot vertical?

A: Regarding the Magnus VT-400, listed in the "Key Features," section of the product overview, it states that the Tilt Angle is +90° forward and -60° backwards. This means you cannot point straight up, only straight down.

Q: 2. Is the half ball removable so that a flat plate is exposed if I want to mount this to a slider?

A: It is not. It is a 60mm ball head only, it cannot be converted to a flat base. What you could do instead is purchase the legs separate along with the flat base 500AH model and the 75mm Ball Adapter. Q: 3. Is it possible to buy replacement heads or a head that is compatible with the mount of the tripod legs? My head is super stiff when panning left to right.

A: The head is removable so yes, you could replace it with another of your choice.

Q: 4. Does it hold a Canon C100 or C300 camera?

A: Yes. But best way is buy 546 gb with 502 hd!

Q: 5. Can this tilt to shoot perfectly vertical rather than horizontal?

A: Unfortunately, the MVH500A fluid head (and most professional video heads) do not offer this. If you would like to shoot vertical video, there are devices and accessories that will allow you to mount your camera vertically on the fluid head. I'd recommend reaching out to us and we can figure a solution out with you! :)

Q: 6. Will 3 Legged Thing QR11-LC Universal L-Bracket be suitable in vertical mode with this head ?

A: The attachment for the 3 Legged Thing QR11-LC Universal L-Bracket is Arca Swiss and would require an adapter to work with the Manfrotto 502 head. Q: 7. The listing says the legs without the fluid head can support 33 pounds- could these legs be a candidate for mounting a small jib?

A: Yes. I own these stix and have used them with a jib with a Canon EOS C100 and up to 25 pounds of weights on the other side.

Q: 8. We would be using this tripod in a very sandy area. we have used other tripods and with time have issues with the ball joint(to pan left and right, up and down). Will this Manfrotto MVH500A Fluid Drag Video Head with MVT502AM have the same issue or does the fluid head resolve the issue(I'm thinking its a closed part since it has the fluid in it)?

A: As a multi media journalist i have subjected mine to all elements and nasty conditions. I don't see the sand as being and issue. I wouldn't recommend dumping sand on it but it should hold up just fine. If you clean your gear with some compressed air after each shoot it should be ok. But nothing is fool proof and sand can get everywhere. simple care and maintenance should make it last

Q: 9. What is the screw size hole on the side of the plate?

A: If you are referring to the hole seen in this photo on our website that is a 3/8"-16 thread. https://bit.ly/2rQusEx

Q: 10. Would this tripod be suited well enough for my Sony HVR-Z7U camera?

A: I think it works very well for my C100, but the HVR is a much heavier camera and this tripod isn't rated for that load. I would look for a heavier duty tripod in $700+ range like a Acebil P-50 series or better.

[Yes] An absolute tank, easy to use, the head has great resistance and allows you to get tiny adjustments without a second thought. No camera shake at all... well worth the cash and its even under priced.. The carry bag is high quality as well.

[9.5 lb (4.3 kg)] I got this on sale and for the price, the weight of it and the fluid head it was a great deal! I use this all the time while shooting wedding videos. :)

Have a 6D with 70-200 that usually sits on it.

[+90 to -75°] Using this fluid head/tripod with a canon DSLR for a variety of projects/uses. It's a beast. Tripod is of solid construction and very stable/capable on a variety of terrains. Fluid head has adjustable drag and great range of motion (90* down) + counterbalanced. More than capable of handling a DSLR with mic, lights, etc. Probably better/best suited for a larger/heavier video camera. Was considering the Magnus VT-4000 but this was a bit cheaper. Probably a bit larger (and heavier) than the VT4000 when condensed? Carry case is nice and pretty rugged. Handles + removable shoulder strap. Interior pocket for miscellaneous items. Shipped with a Styrofoam piece that covers the head and another in the bag to protect the head from impact- both of which I will be keeping to make sure its protected when I'm on the go. Well worth the $. If this is in your price range look no further.

[Yes] I was about to buy a Sachtler second hand on Craigslist, but this bad boy was part of a weekly special at B&H and it is amazing. Great bag, perfect weight: secure on the ground but easy to lug, drag silky smooth, everything just works great. I was pining for my old Miller but not any more. Superb tripod.
