Mono-lock design allows you to lock and unlock the three sections of each leg using only one locking lever. The rotating lever provides a robust clamp mechanism that secures the legs and prevents them from slipping once locked. The single lever on each leg allows you to quickly lock the leg height without having to use two levers, making for a quicker workflow and sparing you from having to bend down to open a bottom leg lock to raise the legs.

The legs feature spiked feet that provide solid purchase on soft surfaces when not using the included ground level spreader.

The ground level spreader attaches to the spiked feet for working on delicate or hard surfaces.

The included mid-level spreader allows you to work on uneven terrain such as stairs or rocks while preventing the legs from flying apart. When using the mid-level spreader, you can use the included rubber feet to protect delicate surfaces from the tripod's foot spikes.

The head incorporates a push button that illuminates the built-in bubble level. An LR41 push-button battery is included and is easily replaceable.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What's the minimum weight this head will support using the counterbalance? A Panasonic GH4 with kit lens weighs about 1 kg and this seems to be too light activate the counterbalance properly. By properly I mean using the camera balanced on the head, the counterbalance at its lowest setting (1) is still too strong and causes the camera to bounce back to an original position. The purpose of the counterbalance is keep the camera at a fixed attitude when you release the pan handle--correct? I've experimented with a heavier lens on the GH4 (nearly 2 kg total weight) and the counterbalance works a lot better. Comments?

A: The head's lowest counterbalance setting as you have discovered is too strong for the load you are using it with. The only solution would be to add more weight or get a lower capacity head.

Q: 2. Could I replace the head on my Libec LX7M Tripod with this one?

A: yes you should be able to, the libec accepts 75 mm ball

Q: 3. Is the handle for the GH03 included with the flat base or the 75mm ball?

A: It is included with both versions of the head.

Q: 4. What is the better SIRUI BCH 20 or E IMAGE GH 6

A: Using objective data, the Sirui technically support more weight for a payload of 22lbs vs the E-Image GH06 Fluid Head, which supports a payload of 13lbs, however, the Sirui also weighs more than the E-Image at 7.1lbs weight, vs the E-Image at 4.4lbs. So if payload support is the most important feature, but the weight of the tripod head is negligible, the Sirui would be the better choice. If weight of the head itself is important for transportation, etc, the E-Image may be the better choice.

Q: 5. Does this work with jvc 850u??

A: Yes it will. This tripod has a 22 pound load capacity, which is more than enough for B&H # JVGYHM850C14. You will just want to add B&H # JVKA551U, which is the JVC KA551U Tripod Adapter Plate.https://bhpho.to/2wPAlP9

Q: 6. What is the height of this head from base to plate?

A: Erik, the GH03 Head is approximately 5.25 from the base to the top of the baseplate.

Q: 7. Any possible way to remove the ball head? Are there any screws on the bowl that would allow it to be taken off?

A: It is not possible to convert this head to a flat base tripod. However Ikan does offer the IK-RSR6 Hi-Hat Riser, you could use this instead to connect this head to a flat base with a 3/8"-16 connection. https://bhpho.to/2ro3GCc

Q: 8. According to specs, this fluid head should be operational at -40 degrees. Is this true? Has anyone tried it in very cold temperatures?

A: The manufacturer's specs are based on workbench tests that are rigidly adhered to and while we do not have first-hand access to those temperature conditions, we have heard of instances where this fluid head did operate successfully at very low, mid-winter New York temperatures.

Q: 9. Is the GH06 compatible with the Sachtler Flowtech legs w/75mm bowl?

A: Yes, you should be able to use the E-Image GH06 Fluid Head with the Sachtler Flowtech 75 MS Carbon Fiber Tripod with Mid-Level Spreader and Rubber Feet.

Q: 10. Will this fit an ET-40AAM tripod from E-Image? It has an EH-60 ball on it now that isn't so fluid anymore.

A: Was the original kit the EK60AAM? If so, this, or any other 75mm ball fluid video head will work in the tripod leg's 75mm bowl.

[Yes] I have primarily used Sachtler and Vinten tripods throughout my 20 years in production. I have purchased multiple Sachtler 18s and 20s for companies that I have worked for, and I loved them. A couple years ago I was building my own camera, lighting/grip packages. I was buying everything at once so I needed to find a cheap tripod to get me by for a year.

At NAB 2019 I tried out ever tripod that I could find. One vendor even sent me a $4,000 tripod to demo for a month, but nothing came close to this E-Image.

It’s Carbon Fiber, and what I love is that with one turn of the “mono-lock”, both stages of the tripod colapse/extend. Also the head is solid and smooth.

If I have to come up with a complaint, I feel that if I have a long lens on my camera and I want the tension on high, I would like for there to be a bit more tension. I also miss the quick release plate, but for a savings of $6,000, I think that I can deal with that!

Needless to say, my “temporary tripod” has become my permanent tripod and I just bought a second one for my second camera package. If you happen to be all about brands, just buy some Sachtler stickers to cover up the name! I think I’ll use my $12,000 in savings on my two sets of sticks to put towards buying a cargo van!

Happy shooting!

[Easy Lock] If you combined the performance of the Manfrotto 502 head with the footprint of the 500... at a cheaper price tag, you'd have this. The GH03 is perfect if you're doing a run and gun shoot with a mono-pod.

[22.85 lb] Bought this about a year ago. I use medium size rigs on it. built up c70 with Ninja V and follow focus and other not so heavy things. I'm guessing about 6lbs. This works like a champ!

Its smooth and the drag controls are spot on. They're tuned to each other, meaning if you put the tilt on 2 and pan on 2, you can make a nice circle movement and not notice any difference in the two resistance. Not to mention completely repeatable, unlike those friction clutch systems.

The counter balance system is great too. But if you use just a dslr or mirrorless by itself, it may be too light for the counter balance, even at the 1 setting. Some people mentions that there is no in between increments (there are only 4 settings), but I had yet to have a rig not balance on those 4 settings.

The locks are great and nothing moves once locked. but I don't like the placement of the pan lock. Its too tucked in. You have to fumble around like a teenager trying to... never mind.

I like the way the handle can telescope out. The longer handle will give you less shake, if using a very long lens or you had too much coffee.

The ball lock is good too. Never had it slip on me yet. Its not the most comfortable shaped knob but since you don't have to twist it that hard lock or unlock, its not too bad.

I wish the head was lighter, but its a video head, I guess you really can't skimp on weight. This is a couple of notches higher than your budget friction fluid heads for sure. Love it!

[Easy Lock] I was searching for a lightweight, rugged video tripod and head that could support my RED EPIC-W when its all rigged up or my lighter Sony FS7. I have been working on a TV show for Discovery Science Channel in Chernobyl and had to travel light. The GC102 and GH15 head were perfect.

It collapses down small enough to fit into my Pelican Air 1615 case for my checked back with my clothes. I have also been able to pack it in an LL Bean rolling duffle as well since its less then 30" collapsed.

The head is very smooth and the range of drag settings allows me to use the RED in various configurations or my light FS7. It's rugged as I hauled it up the and down a side of a mountain in Utah to film in Arches and got quite banged up, but no issues in the mechanical operation. Its logged over 50,000 miles of travel with me and is still going strong.

[Yes] We have the GH06 and were happy enough to jump up to this one. This is very solid, silky smooth, and it just feels right. We use a 15-20 lbs setup so we haven't maxed out the head, but I see no reason it won't hold up. We also work with three other camera-ops who use this with heavier cameras and they all have great things to say. We are also huge fans of the carbon tripod legs with single lock. Great idea!
