Ideal for security surveillance, watching night skies, and night hunting, the Newcon Optik 5x 3rd Gen Night Vision Bi-ocularfrom Newcon Optik 5x 3rd Gen Night Vision Bi-ocularfeatures a 3rd generation autogated intensifier tube with a resolution of 64 lp/mm. Its autogating feature provides resistance to bright light, reduces degradation, and helps improve tube life. To maximize image brightness in the lowest of lighting conditions, and in complete darkness, the bi-ocular carries a built-in infrared illuminator and a wide catadioptric objective lens with a 130mm focal length and f/2.3 f-number. With 5x magnification, the lens system enables you to make observations at a considerable range with an angular field of view of 8°. The bi-ocular also offers a diopter adjustment and a variable interpupillary distance.

To allow you to use it anywhere, the housing is made of high quality aluminum and offers waterproof performance and can be submersed to a depth of 3.3' for 30 minutes. Its rubber winged eyecups prevent spillover of light from the tubes and offer comfortable cushions between the orbits of your eyes and eyepieces.

[8° (Actual)] I was expecting pretty good quality at this price. Definitely not disappointed! There aren't a whole lot of choices in the lowest power range of 4x, and this one was the lightest weight while also having a center manual focus knob and a right eye diopter adjustment. I am nearsighted with astigmatism and there is a significant difference in my glasses prescription between left and right eyes, so I need the diopter when using these without glasses. With glasses on, however, the view was also great. Many binoculars give me a very restricted field of view when I keep my glasses on, but the restriction of these is minimal. I've seldom seen this from any binocular and I'm delighted. Outdoors in bright daylight I did not see the slightest evidence of chromatic aberration anywhere in my field of view, with plenty of sharpness all around. Inside the concert hall, I can view performers without trouble and I'm not having to inspect their dental work at this magnification. These are so light that I can forget I am carrying them. Not mentioned in the blurb is the cleaning cloth, the pouch with belt loop, and the perfectly-sized neck strap. No need to buy accessories! 5

[25 mm] These are not military grade. But for the price I'm surprised how much detail I can see in the yard and field behind my house. With in a hundred feet I can see cats and racoons in the dark. Your not going to see much beyond this and I did not expect to at this price. The only problem I have is loosing my night vision due to the bright viewing screen. By keeping one eye closed during viewing helps. Cant wait to use them at the cabin. Wont have to light up the woods with a spotlight to see the deer and bear. 5

[33' / 10 m] It does affect my night vision when I use it, but because its two red LEDs turn on at MINIMUM BRIGHTNESS it does not affect it much. Power and brightness are controlled by a small thumbwheel, like the volume control on a portable radio. I have another red light but it starts out way too bright. I never use it because of this. It comes with a 9V battery and seems to have good battery life. It is not water or weather resistant. The lanyard is quite good: simple and functional. I can put it around my neck with plenty of slack. 5

[5x] This is a really well designed pair of binoculars. Small enough to fit in a fairly large pocket, light enough that you don't really feel them if you hang them around your neck. At 4x it's easy for even old hands to hold them steady enough for casual viewing. All of the mechanics of focus adjustment (except for the right eyey diopter adjustment) is internal to the case so they don't change length when one changes the focal distance. Add to that they focus closeup at about 20 inches and you have something handy enough to use for every day carry. 5
