The fluid head features a counterbalance system that will keep the camera from falling forward or backward when it is tilted. With the correct counterbalance, the camera will stay where you put it, throughout the entire +/-90° tilt range.

Fluid drag allows you to pan and tilt smoothly, without shake or vibration. The high viscosity fluid acts as a buffer, adding an adjustable level of resistance to the camera movement.

The fluid head employs a modular design concept that allows you to choose different mounting bases (150mm, Mitchell, Sachtler/Vinten), quick release platforms (Oconnor, 120mm Euro, Panavision Dovetail and Arriflex Plates) and handles for added flexibility.

EX fluid heads can go far beyond that maximum payload by slowly limiting tilt range as the payload is increased. With the example of the 120EX, the payload for a 90° tilt range is between 30-120 lbs (14-54 kg), but in EX mode the 120EX can counterbalance up to incredible 240 lbs (109 kg) at a tilt range of 60°; all based on a 8" center of gravity.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is the tripod head removable?

A: It is not removable in the conventional sense, but it can be deconstructed although I would not recommend that. If you need to dismount the head, I would recommend instead purchasing a Hi-Hat Riser and a separate fluid head as I did to solve my problem. I use the Hi-Hat Riser with fluid head secured to the church's balcony rail for church services and the intact tripod for outside and chapel use where there is no balcony. I purchased both from B&H and they are working wonderfully well. The B&H technicians advised me which items to purchase and they were spot on. Hope this helps...

Q: 2. I am looking for a tripod for my smartphone while I teach in a blended situation. Is this appropriate? Attachments necessary?

A: yes this tripod can be used with mobile phones as long as the phone is in a tripod mount adapter

Q: 3. Where can I get a replacement handle?

A: Replacement parts for this product should be available through the manufacturer directly. Feel free to email us directly at askbh@bhphoto.com for assistance reaching out to them.

Q: 4. Is the quick release assembly removable? If I want to replace it with the Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate would it be possible?

A: The head assembly is non-removable. You can not replace it with any other adapter.

Q: 5. My bad, I meant to ask: does this comes with the different tripod FEET accessories for different terrains? Thank you!

A: No, the included rubber "Bootz" are detachable, but this unit does not include any other foot accessories.

Q: 6. Cam the tripod head be purchased separately?

A: Unfortunately, at this time, the Sirui SH05 head can only be purchased with the tripod kit, the Sirui SH05 Video Tripod & Fluid Head Kit.

Q: 7. I have a slider one V2 from edelkrone and headone. Will this be able to support the weight shift as the slider moves from point A to point B?

A: Yes, according to the specs of the slider and the tripod it should hold the weight. I would recommend putting sand bags on the spreader of the tripod for more stability.

Q: 8. Is the head really fluid, i like my videos to be smooth?

A: Yes it's very smooth, great pan/tilt quality for video.(Just know it has no counterbalance, so if your camera isn't evenly balanced, it may move when you let go of the handle. Not really a problem for me, I just lock the pan/tilt whenever my hand isn't on the handle.)

Q: 9. Shipping dimensions and weight?

A: The shipping dimensions and weight are:Ln: 29.00 Wd: 5.50 Ht: 5.30Weight: 7.00 lb.

Q: 10. Would this work for the Black Magic 6k pro video camera?

A: Yes it will./

[Yes] This tripod perfectly supports my new spotting scope. It is lightweight but strong.

[Yes] Bought the Focus 22, heavy duty legs and ground spreader. The first thing you notice is how robust and sturdy this thing is. The next thing you notice is how perfectly you can dial in the Pan/Tilt drag and counterbalance.

My work is varied from commercials to social media to music videos and this tripod system has already improved my on set workflow.

It’s heavy. For me, that’s a big plus. If heavy isn’t for you I’d still consider a tripod in the Cartoni line because they have a seriously high quality product.

I opted for this tripod over the Sachtler video 18s2 and O’Connor 1040 and I am not disappointed.

[Yes] This is the lightest- big delivery- tripod I’ve ever used. Solid quality & solid design. I needed a smaller tripod. My 30 year old Gitzo that I used for 4x5 and 8x10 cameras was seriously too much to carry around now that I’m digital DSLR + video and no more view cameras. This is the best tripod I could have chosen. Happy +++

[Fluid Head] I have 2 and I now use them every day. The tall height, the fluid head, and the monopod feature are all things I use regularly.

[Yes] I bought the tripod to go with a pair of Celestron Skymaster DX 8X56 binoculars. What a perfect pair. They operate smoothly together with a sturdy balance, perfect height adjustments, it's lightweight makes it easy to move around.Perfect for that on the go tripod. I love its carrying bag. Looking at planets, stars has never been so steady. I am sure that this tripod would act the same with any style, brand of binoculars.

[Continuous] Tested this all morning as a new product and will be doing a video review of this one soon. Quick thoughts, supports and counterbalances 15lbs easily. Good ergonomics. Nice drag controls, easy to use. Lighter than most supporting this weight. Overall Winner!
Cons: a hair of slack when changing the drag, wish there were 1-2 more counterbalance setting (there is frictionless and 3 steps on top of that, 4-5 would have been perfect)

[Yes] After searching for a cheap alternative, I took the cost and got the CFF-1. It is in my mind the best focus unit available. Every option you would need it has. The build is none other than O'Connor spec, backlash is to a small 1-2mm at most, super smooth and the hand wheels feels great. Perfect size with the 38 tooth gear to have a long throw on cine lenses. A helpful tip, mine shipped with some play in one of the hand wheels, there are 2 small screws on the belt cap of the hand wheel, loosen those and the gear slides up and down from the belt inside, push down and tighten to engage the gear in the handwheel on the belt and the gap is gone from in the handwheel. I bought the 1450 case, the foam inserts is an amazing idea from O'Connor, slides right in and is not a custom cut out case for the unit. All in all, a solid unit worth every penny. I just hope O'Connor doesn't decide to replace this anytime soon.
