Transporting a hard beauty dish has always been a problem, with its cumbersome case and tendency to dent. Now however, you can use a collapsible, 24" Profoto OCF Beauty Dish Silver 24" Photography Lightingfrom Profoto OCF Beauty Dish Silver 24" Photography Lightingfor the B10 OCF flash heads that takes up no more space than a folded umbrella. Light bounces off the included deflector and is directed outwards to edge of the beauty dish. Setup is a snap, literally. Just use the previously introduced, separately purchased OCF speed ring which accepts the rods before they are tensioned, then snap them into place for use. The beauty dish comes with a front diffuser for an even softer look as well as a carry bag. The dish is recommended for use only with Profoto heads that have an LED modeling lamp.

Q: 1. Does this work with the Phottix indra 500?

A: No, the Profoto OCF Beauty Dish (Silver, 24"), B&H # PR101221, would not be compatible for use with the Phottix Indra500 TTL Studio Light. The Profoto OCF Beauty Dish (Silver, 24") is only compatible for use with the Profoto OCF light fixtures, which would be the Profoto B1, B1X, B2, and B10 OCF Flash Heads.

Q: 2. Is there an optional diffuser for this modifier to make the output softer?

A: Unfortunately, Profoto does not produce a front diffuser for this beauty dish.

Q: 3. Will this work with a Profoto B2 Head?

A: All ocf and rfi boxes will fit on the Profoto B2 head.

Q: 4. Is there any grid for this beauty dish?

A: Yes there is for sure. I have one myself.

Q: 5. Can the speed ring be changed on this softbox?

A: Speed ring is sold separately. It is the same speed ring used for all Profoto light modifiers.

A: Yes, you would need to purchase the Profoto Speed Ring for OCF Flash Heads, B&H # PROCFSR, to connect the Profoto OCF Beauty Dish (Silver, 24"), B&H # PR101221, to the Profoto B10 OCF Flash Head.

Q: 7. What to choose? The White or the Silver Beauty Dish. Any suggestions?

A: I have only had the OCF White Beauty DIsh in hand (as the silver was on back-order) and I let my good friend, Bud Thorpe (The SOPHA LLC) have a hand at testing it out. He wrote a great blog post describing the unit and his views on the experimental testing that he used. You should check it out to get an experienced lighting aficionado's view on the white OCF.

Q: 8. Will this only be for mounting to Profoto lights, or will other speed rings be available soon?(Buff specifically)

A: The OCF Speedring is about 2cm smaller in diameter than the Profoto RFi ring and other common speedrings. So as Chris said, this won't fit on other speedrings (same goes for the other OCF softboxes). The reverse holds as well - you can't fit Profoto or other brand 'normal' softboxes to the OCF speedring - in the case of Profoto and Chimera at least, the rods are too thick to fit into the sockets of the OCF ring as well as the diameter of the ring being different.However, if you want an alternative that fits on a standard speedring then the Chimera Octa Beauty Dishes are similar and work fine. My 30 fits on a Profoto RFi speedring no problem at all.

Q: 9. Does this work with the 2' octa ocf grid?

A: The 2'ocf grid is not recommended to be used ocf beautydish .

Q: 10. Has anyone used the profoto ocf beauty dish on a Profoto D1? (I know its not advised...but Im wondering if its fits and fine to use). Thanks

A: It fits. Don't do it. If you damage the unit on a D1 then you're out a Beauty dish.

[Silver] It's Profoto, so you know it's good, and others can tell you about the light quality in more detail. I just wanted to add that I've wanted something like this for my Godox system for a while, but even with the bowens mount adapter nothing really matched this form factor or level of quality I saw this on display in the store and knew it'd be perfect for my needs but the mount was incompatible. The staff even told me it couldn't be adapted. Lo and behold, the Godox AD200 Profoto adapter! I can now has this too and I love it. 5

[1.52 lb] As a professional photographer I'm asked for several different light qualities to match my client's needs. While I was used to using a large soft box (five foot Ocotobox) I recently picked up this portable beauty dish for client wishing for a more contrasty light. I shoot with this light very close to the subject's face and it does a fantastic job, with great transitional shadows. I also like that it's portable so I can break it down when I'm packing up my location gear. Fair price compared to other ProFoto gear - works great! 5

[1.52 lb] Well built professional tool as are all of Profoto's products. I can't compare it to a traditional hard beauty dish because I don't own a hard dish and never will because those simply don't fit my gear bags. That's why I love the collapsible, it's extremely compact and light, and a welcome addition to my location kit. The light IS beautiful...noticeably punchier than that of the OCF 2' Octobox, but similar if you also use the included diffuser sock. 5

[18.9 x 9 x 1.7"] I have both the white and silver models. The character of light between the two is distinct enough to warrant owning both. As you might expect, the silver produces more focused and contrasty area of light. I like having the option to choose between white or silver to produce the kind of light needed to match a given subject or situation. Love how compact and portable the unit is when folded. 5

[Silver] as all of this brand, great! only made a few test shoots with it . But next week I have from 9am to 7pm photo shoot with this product. No werrys. I know that it will work great. Made will, fast and easy to put together. 5
