Pairing an incredibly fast maximum aperture with a standard focal length, this black Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 Mark II Fujifilm X Lensfrom Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 Mark II Fujifilm X Lensis designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length. The bright f/0.95 maximum aperture offers increased control over depth of field and focus, as well as benefitting working in low or difficult lighting conditions. Maintaining a high degree of image quality throughout the aperture range, a sophisticated optical design features both low dispersion and high refractive index elements to control chromatic aberrations and reduce color fringing.

Balancing the optical components is a robust all-metal lens body that facilitates a smooth manual focus design along with a manual de-clicked aperture ring for smooth, silent exposure adjustment. Depth of field and distance scales are also featured on the lens barrel to aid working with pre-focusing techniques.

Metal lens barrel offers increased durability, yet remains lightweight at 1 lb.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why is the silver version more expensive than the black alternative?

A: Hi, since the lenses are identical except for the color, Mitakon is pricing the silver higher only because of the color. We have many products that vary in price due only to color. It's a feature that manufacturers can choose to price differently.

Q: 2. How Can I use it on canon 5d full frame

A: No you will get extremely heavy vignetting on a full frame camera.

Q: 3. Does this lens have a moving element? I can hear a element sliding when I gently tilt the angle of the lens

A: There are no moving elements in this particular lens.

Q: 4. Has anyone compared the Mitakon 35mm/f0.95 to the Fujinon 35mm/f1.4? If so how does overall sharpness compare? More importantly how does depth of field - or lack of - and bokeh compare? More specifically just how much more does the Mitakon throw backgrounds out of focus- at loose portrait distance? Any direct comparison photos? Thanks for any help you might give.

A: Hi Tom,I have compared Mitakon 35/f0.95 to fujinon 35mm/f2.0. From my experience Mitakon is not really 0.95 but more somthing like 1.2 from what I could see on my tests. ThoughIt has a nice bokeh and is very sharp at 2.0 in the center, sharpness in the edge is much better on fujinon. I hope it will help you.

Q: 5. Can this lens be used for photographing the night sky? Or, to phrase it differently, does it have a hard infinity stop? Thanks.

A: I haven't taken any night sky pictures, but in my opinion it does have a hard infinity stop. However on f/.95 corners are soft.

Q: 6. Can this be used on the Sony a7R III?

A: This lens is for APS-C sensors, so although you can put it on a A7R III, there will be heavy vignetting due to the smaller image circle

Q: 7. Does focus highlighting work with this lens? (X-T2)

A: Yes it does

Q: 8. Can I use this for the Canon M50?

A: Yes, the lens is an EFM Mount, so it can be used on any M system camera without an adaptor. It is manual focus only and can only be used in Manual or Aperture priority mode for exposure.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with the Fujifilm X-T20?

A: Yes, It most certainly will!!! It's AWESOME! FYI: ALL FUNCTIONS MANUAL -- Focusimg & Aperture, also NO CONTACTS so that means NO METADATA. It's a 35mm, but on the Fujifilm it amounts to about 52.5mm Field of View. Again, it's not a 50mm. It's a 35mm looking about 50mmish. Set the camera to Shooting Without Lens and in the menu set up a 35mm (NOT 50mm) profile. Use Fujifilm's AWESOME Focus Peaking. I set it on High (You have several colors to choose from. I use White for color and Red for B&W photos. The Aperture Ring IS CLICKLESS. If you bump it, it'll change. Wide open their will be noticable purple fringing in high contrast areas. A breeze to fix in post processing. You're buying the lens to shoot wide open. It's an artsy lens that you will fall in love with. I could keep going but suggest you go to FLICKR and check out the Mitakon 35mm Lens User Groups. Fabulous photos!!!!! Enjoy! Oh, once you catch the manual everything bug the VOIGTLANDER 58mm f/1.4 Nokton SL II S AIS (Nikon F-mount - get an adapter) WILL BLOW YOUR MIND! Again, check out the FLICKR Lens Pages.

Q: 10. Can you change the de-clicked aperture? Make it back to clicking when changing settings?

A: Unfortunately, there is no way to change the aperture ring from de-clicked to clicked.

[f/0.95] All in all a great lens, great all metal build extremely smooth and buttery aperture and focus ring great for video shooting. Much less chromatic abrasion and vignetting compared to the mitakon 50mm F0.95 (35mm sensor) and the MKI. Also much smaller and lighter. It's not a easy lens to use but with it you can get some really beautiful shots with. It also allows you to use very low powered lighting which is great for low budget shoots and kits. It also processes colors very nicely. Keep in mind: completely manual lens very shallow depth of field (hard to use for live events) with crop factor its more like a F1.4 Not as much of a wow factor as the 50mm F0.95

[55 mm (Front)] Well made, solid little lens. Haven’t had too much time with it, but so far have found it surprisingly sharp(at the centre at least) even wide open, with great bokeh and subject isolation. Aperture ring is at the front of the lens, not ideal, and this I found takes some getting used to...
Just one little annoyance: I thought the v2 came with a fancy hard boxy lens case, but the one I got from B&H came with a cheap soft lens case. Don’t know why, but anyways, just a small niggle

[f/0.95] I was skeptical about purchasing this lens. I previously had a Rokinon 50:1.2 and it was ok, just ok. I was able to focus with it without issue but it just lacked the magic wide open. After receiving the Mitakon 35:0.95 I was floored. The image wide open (I only want this for wide open photography) is amazing. It is sharp in the center where it counts and the bokeh is probably the best I have ever seen with my lenses. I am using it with a Sony A6600 which has a nice feature set for manual focusing. I am able to nail the focus most of the time assuming I don’t move (a fraction of an inch will put the image outside the focus zone)when hand holding it.  Not an issue with a tripod. I am using a 3 stop ND filter so I can shoot outside in full daylight wide open. The A6600 conveniently has a low ISO of 50 which sometimes allows me to shoot without the ND filter.  This lens has the magic and it is a keeper.

[f/0.95] I got a Fuji X-T3 mid 2019, and with it I got this lens. Got a few other lenses as well but this is the only one that’s stayed around the entire time with the camera. It’s what’s on my camera 95% of the time. Yeah it’s shallow depth of field and manual focus but give it a week or two and it becomes really easy since Fuji’s focus peaking is really great. Center resolves good sharpness actually but the corners are a mess unless you stop down and even then they’re never fantastic. But for candid photos or even in the studio there’s something about this lens that’s just special. Friends are always harping about the photos I take using it. For once people actually say “he has a nice lens” instead of the classic “he has a nice camera”. It flares when the sun is directly in frame but I’ve always found a way to make it really work in the photo, it’s not weird/annoying flaring. It’s really not that big considering how much light it gets. Also the focus ring is the most perfectly smooth/dampened of any lens I’ve ever used, even compared to old film lenses. Yeah autofocus is easy but honestly for the price of this lens and the results it can give it’s just so worth giving it a shot. I’ve been spoiled with low ISO’s even when indoors in the evening. This lens paired with my X-T3 is what got me back into photography (and got me into videography as well)! I’ve never been so uninterested in shopping around for other lenses. It’s a shame Mitakon doesn’t make any other APSC lenses like a 70mm prime (105mm equiv.) cos I’d buy it immediately.

[FUJIFILM X] It takes awhile to get the hand of using this lens, as the depth of field is quite shallow at f0.95. But it produces excellent results. I use focus peaking to get the subject into proper focus. The distance scale is harder to use.

[55 mm (Front)] Between the color, bokeh, and sharpness of this lens... WOW. When using it on my Fuji xPro2, the images are almost indistinguishable from those I get using my Leica m240 and 50mm f1.4 Summilux. Obviously, not as good at a micro-level. But it really, really, surprised me just how similar the images looked (FYI, I primarily shoot street and travel photography).
I don't know if every lens (this model) is as good or well made as the one I got, but mine is fantastic!
If I could change anything, it would be for click-stops on the aperture ring. As I tend to shoot this lens wide open, it's disappointing to see—after I've taken the shot—that the aperture ring moved accidentally while I focused. No biggie. But that would be the one thing I'm unhappy about.
And again, as I like to shoot wide-open, I also bought the B+W Variable ND filter. Highly recommended.
My final words... Get this lens!

[55 mm (Front)] I bought this lens without having a solid review upon which to base my decision. That made me a little nervous, but the prospect of having a lens capable of great bokeh without the need for an adapter prompted me to take the chance. I love the 58mm f/1.2 and the 90mm f/2, but a 50mm full frame equivalent focal length is extremely versatile, and still my favorite. I have had the opportunity to shoot many test shots with the lens mounted on an X-Pro2 over the last few weeks. I can say I am very pleasantly surprised and will definitely be keeping the lens. This lens should appeal to video shooters (clickless f/stops) or portrait photographers (for the bokeh). If sharp, had the potential to be a great value for the money. So far, I have found the lens is very sharp, with slight falloff at the edges wide open just as one would expect. The focus barrel is very smooth with moderately long throw. The focus ring is slightly more narrow than I am used to, and it's to the rear of the f/stop ring, which initially resulted in me usually changing the f/stop and wondering why the focus wasn't moving. That just requires a little adjustment to the controls. For kicks, I shot a set of comparison photos using a Zeiss 32mm f/1.8 Touit and this lens, both at f/8 and compared them. Obviously, I manually focused this lens, but autofocused the Zeiss 32mm. At f/8, the Mitakon Zhongyi was usually sharper. This really surprised me, but indicated this would make a very versatile walk around lens if one did not need autofocus. The vignetting is characteristic of these fast lenses, certainly not more than you would expect from a high quality lens. I like that in portrait photography, and if you don't, it's easily corrected in post. The Chromatic aberration is very well controlled, and I never felt compelled to correct it. The contrast is excellent and color rendering superb. The bokeh is really pleasing and exactly what I was looking for in a lens like this. All that said,
