[25.4 lb] Great unit. Will be able to use this unit for a long period of time, since it does have 4k ability. All the options needed to start filming quality content.

[27 x 18 x 13"] A great price for a 4K camera but while the plastic body may seem a little cheesy it helps keep the weight down and no matter what it's made of I always treat it carefully so body material doesn't matter. I'm a little disappointed I can't seem to get it to an aperture priority mode, maybe it's just me. It produces a quality picture with a choice of many different resolutions.

[25.4 lb] I'm very happy with my new JVC GY-HM170. It's compact and lightweight, and loaded with features. And you certainly cannot beat the price for a camera like this ($1,195 on sale). I'll be using this camera to make documentary shorts and it's easy to travel with too.

[27 x 18 x 13"] I really love this Camera... Works great. Picture quality is great, controls are easy, very light camera, but very rugged as well. When shooting freehand with a Steady Stick, I find that focusing Long Distances is difficult with manual focus and impossible with Auto Focus (I primarily shoot a lot of RC A/C.. Distance shots even zoomed in hard to focus through the viewfinder and using the flip out monitor in daylight is useless as you just get blinded.... I Have a GY-HM100U camera and I do not have the RC shooting problem that I have with the 180, However this is a minor issue for me. However, even with all of that, I really like the camera. Heavy Duty, Great Video, works well...


Inside use of the camera is 2nd to none... everything works great and as advertised as does shooting at night does very very well.



One feature that I noted is the Remote Port... It is actually LANC and works well with LANC Devices, even though it is not advertised... A great feature that JVC should push, but do not seem to do.

[25.4 lb] I decided to get this bag because of Porta Brace's outstanding reputation and the fact that it's a near-perfect fit for the HM170, although it would also fit other smallish camcorders. The inside of the bag is burnt orange with a tight black document pocket on one side. It comes with a velcro divider. With the HM170 in the bag there's about 3-4 inches of clearance in front of the camera, assuming you push the camera all the way to one side. There's probably 1-2 inches of clearance on the sides of the camera. These measurements were taken with the lens hood and microphone mounted. (See attached photo) I would say there's enough room for the camera, power supply, a few batteries, and some small items but not much else. All in all, an excellent bag that will stand the rigors of the field.

[27 x 18 x 13"] Having shot successfully with a DVX100a and a JVC150u which I bought as a stop gap measure, until I found the right camera for me. The JVC150u did manage to pay for itself, but it lacked the configuration ability of the DVX and it's excellent glass.I have finally found the true successor to my DVX100a. This is the HD camera I have been waiting for. First off, let me point out this camera is not as dinky as some of the You Tube reviewers make it out to be. It definitely looks as professional as it's images. Regarding the images, they are stunning, even in HD. This camera offers plenty of pro features, allowing you complete control over the image, instead having to meet the camera halfway. It's has excellent glass at a very wide 56mm. I seriously doubt anyone will need a wide angle adapter for this camera. Regarding low light, in capable hands it can hold it's own.Bottom line, I can't believe the amount of camera with it's capabilities I am holding in my hand for $$. For the serious shooter who needs a true production tool that can hold it's own with anything out there, I strongly suggest you buy this camera before the sale ends.

[25.4 lb] When it comes to prosumer camcorders, I have been a loyal Panasonic customer for years. The HMC40 and AG-AC90 are great, but I decided to give this JVC a shot, as the features and ability to shoot in 4K at this price point are crazy. I've used it at basketball games with poor lighting, and the results are amazing. I would highly recommend the camera if you are on the fence.
