Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What length of lens can you fit standing-up in this case? The interior dimensions show 6 height, but it must be less with the eggshell foam isnt it?

A: You can fit a lens that is approximately 5" long.

Q: 2. Does anyone know how deep the base of the case is and the how thick is the egg crate cover is in inches?. The stats say 8.4 inches total. Would like a break down. Want to put a NIKON D610 with battery drive into the case horizontally (tripod socket parallel to the floor of the case). Thanks.

A: Question answered. I bought the unit. No issues.

Q: 3. I have very curious question, and it seems no one ever mention? This kind of cases is to protect very delicate equipment such as Camera, lens, laptops, but....do anyone agrees with me. This on one hand it protects again scratch, bump etc...but along with that it will loosen most of the nuts that hold those components. When you drag those cases, vibrations will cause our expensive equipment to loosen their screw, nuts. I have one proof, one of my friend has a Canon lens, and one day the zoom just stuck. He did not know why, and almost waste $250 just for the camera shop to repair. I try few minutes and found out the tiny screw on the lens was loose due to the vibration of the Pelican while carry on. Same thing, he said his laptop has some parts moving inside. So, for short I don't think this Pelican is working, then how come they are so popular and expensive as well? To protect, yes, but not to drag on the ground like this, it should be lift and carry on your arm. Do I guess right?

A: The 1660 is massive. I use them for lights and TelePrompTer hardware. I carry my cameras in a 1510 Pelli case. I use them because the cases themselves are very solid. I travel around the world with these cases and Ive never had a problem. I dont know any case that can protect from vibration. Youre probably right about carrying the bodies in arms. My stuff is too heavy for all that. Regardless theres better case around.

Q: 4. What is the country of origin of pelican case?what is the role of form iin the case? Hoow. Can. I place safely my ccannon cnn-e 14.5-660mm T/2.6 lens and black magic ursa mini pro in the case?should i Cut the form accordingly?,,Asok

A: The Pelican iM2450 Storm Case with Foam (Black) country of origin is the United States. The interior dimensions are 18.0 x 13.0 x 8.4 / 457 x 330 x 213 mm. With the URSA Mini Pro being 8.2 x 8 x 5.8 / 21 x 20.1 x 14.7 cm, and the Canon CN-E 14.5-60mm T2.6 L S Cinema Zoom Lens 5.35 x 6.42 x 12.83 / 135.9 x 163.1 x 326 mm, I think it too tight to fit both. You should always consider that with your most delicate (and often heavy) items like these that you should have at least 3 / 75mm of foam all around for the best protection. Another tip from someone whose previous career was a motion picture camera assistant: get two cases. I know the thought is that it would be more convenient to have just one case rather then two. I will tell that for most of the time is it not. Except for special circumstances (say travelling in small aircraft and you absolutely must be as small as possible) for the most part it is much better that the camera and the lens have their own cases so they are the only important thing in there to be protected. Accessories that go with that piece of gear can be kept in the case as well. You will find out that on set and when storing, it is better to keep them separate. On set you can leave the camera case behind and bring the lens case to the set up in case you have other lenses to use. Or say one has to go to servicing; it can go and the other still has a case. Say you do not want the lens, just the camera for you will be getting another lens. You can leave the lens behind, safe and protected. Finally, instead of one big heavy case, you have two lighter ones.

Q: 5. What is the minimum foam width I need to effectively protect my items? Is one inch of foam between a camera and the interior wall enough?

A: It is best to have at least 2 inches of foam between the interior wall and the camera for better protection.

Q: 6. Does this case have a pick and pull foam layer?

A: The bottom layer of foam is solid.

Q: 7. Would this make a good case for c-stands?

A: Yes, as long as they are turtle stands with removable legs.

Q: 8. Are you able to cut the foam to fit your items? Or does the foam simply mold around

A: The foam is cubed so you can shape it according to the gear you're holding.

Q: 9. Could this fit a Canon 400mm 2.8 IS III, ideally with a gripped body?

A: This case is too small for that setup.

Q: 10. la this the largest pelican case?

A: Pelican does offer even larger cases, however this is still a large case that may suite your needs. It has Internal Dimensions of 28.2 x 19.8 x 17.6".

[3.7 lb] This year I lost my home to flooding in Vermont. I am strictly an amateur but I have sold a few pieces in the past. When the flood waters hit I had very little time to get out. I lost everything on the first floor. My lenses had been stored in a large nylon bag. as I threw the bag around I was worried I would do damage to the Nikon lenses I had put together. Well the bag did protect the lenses and filters but I did loose some favorite work horses that I miss. This case will work very well for my travel work (I am a tour guide) . I can store the lenses in the compartment under the motor coach and not worry about them. The case is well constructed easy to carry and I got it on sale which made it an even better deal! Not only that but it is water proof and now that is so important to me. Can't wait to get on the road! Thank you B & H.

[Black] Great lightweight, convenient, and sturdy lens case. I really like how you can remove the inserts for different depths for each lens.

[3.7 lb] I own several of these and use them for lenses as well as led bulbs. The build quality is great and the way the latches work is very well thought out. Sensational value, these cases.

[Latch] I have a number of Pelican and Gator cases and had not known about Nanuk, so when the 918 came up as a special buy on Black Friday (or Cyber Monday) at a great price, I decided to give it a shot and bought two of them. The build quality and the locking system blew me away, as did the foam and cutouts for the lenses. The only downside is that I was hoping to have used these for my Fuji GFX lenses, which were too wide for the cutouts. This was probably my oversight, but luckily for me I have a number of systems and wound up using this for my Song a7RIV lenses, which worked for a good portion of them, although not for my 90mm macro or 70-200 (obviously), which were too large to fit. I'll be looking for another Nanuk case for these larger lenses of mine for the GFX. I highly recommend this case.

[Cubed Foam] Got this case to go with my new set of Rokinon Cine AF 4-Lens. Everything fits in perfectly and the lens feel very secure within the case. The case seems to be tough enough to handle just about anything. So I am pleased with this one.

[Latch] The case and accessories were exactly as advertised, including interior measurements (most important to me). I am completely satisfied. (I wasn't quite sure about the usage of some of the included accessories, as no instructions were included.)

[Cubed Foam] It's a great case looking at the intert size it should fit 80mm diameter lens like DZO or Nisi well. I also have to say well done BH Photor to Video for their excellent offer. I imported the other side of the pond (Britain) and it was still way cheaper then what I could get here with International Shipping and Customs charges. Well Done!
