The big yellow knob on the back of the unit controls both the color temperature selection and the dimming of the unit. It features an indent for fingertip control and is positioned at the edge of the fixture, which is cut away allowing you to adjust the knob from the side of the unit when the back is difficult to access. When you power on the light the yellow dimming knob defaults to controlling the dimming, pressing in the knob switches it to color temperature control (3200 to 5600K), pressing it again reverts back to dimming. You can also use the included wireless remote to control the color temperature and dimming.

The light output stays consistent as you transition across the color temperature range, preventing the brightness spike that happens with many LED lights around 4300K.

While some users may enjoy the small increase in light output that intensifiers bring, other users prefer to use barndoors without intensifiers. The removable intensifiers that come with this light attach securely to the barndoors. You do not have to attach all four intensifiers, which allows you choose how many barndoors to use for intensifying your output and how many barndoors to use to cut spill.

The top and bottom barndoors integrate gel clips for attaching diffusion or gels.

The fixture features an interchangeable Gold Mount battery plate. Removing four screws and disconnecting the snap connector allows you to swap out the included V-mount plate.

On the back of the fixture is an LCD info screen that displays the battery power remaining, brightness percentage and color temperature.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could I use these lights to make the light even at the green screen? if not which ones would you recommend for a good price. Thank you

A: yes, you can use the IB508-v2 lights to light the green screen. You might try more than three depending on the length of the green screen.

Q: 2. What light stand will this work with? Can you recommend one

A: For a heavy-duty light stand recommendation, the Kupo Master 20" Riser C-Stand with Sliding Leg (Silver, 6.5'), B&H # KUKS703312, or the Impact Turtle Base C-Stand - 10.75' (Chrome), B&H # IMLSCT40M, would be great options for your usage needs. If you need a more economical option, the Kupo Midi Pro Stand (Black), B&H # KUKS040411, and the Impact Air-Cushioned Light Stand (Black, 8'), B&H # IMLS8AI, would be a good option for your usage needs.

Q: 3. Is there not a softbox for this product?

A: Unfortunately, GVM does not make a softbox for the MX150D. You will have to reach out to a third party manufacturer like DOPChoice to have one custom made.

Q: 4. What is the physical size of the actual fixture?

A: Hi Timothy, The panel is: 22.64" x 15.16" x 4.72".

Q: 5. I'm looking to replace my old 1000 watt tungsten lights. I use them to produce videos for doctors , physical therapists..typically a physical exam video with 2 or 3 people in an area probably 10ft x 10 ftWould these lights be comparable for this application?..

A: While these LED fixtures would be much more efficient than (3) 1000 watt tungsten lights, it would not be close to the output that those would give you. To get closer to that output, you may want to consider the ikan IFB1024-A 3-Light Dual Color Kit with Anton Bauer Battery Plates, which offers a much more powerful light output. Please see the link for reference: a href= http://bhpho.to/1L7JYZG target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1L7JYZG/a

Q: 6. I bought these but can't get the adapters to work on stands so they can be angled. The gold screw in top of adapter is 3/8 and doesn't fit in bottom of led panels

A: These should include a ball mount for adjustments like this.

Q: 7. Does anyone have any experience using these lights in the studio or on location for STILL photography...not video? If so, can you tell me your opinion re light intensity and fall-off as the lights move farther from the subject. I admit that I can't really picture a lux or a footcandle so if you have examples of, say, 10 feet from your subject you're shooting at f5.6 at a shutter speed of x in a location with minimal ambient light? Thank you:)

A: I'm not going to guess at the math you're asking for. What I can tell you is that when I'm shooting video with these lights in a studio environment I have the key light within 3ft of the subject. When shooting outdoors these work, just barely, as a fill light in the daytime when less than 3ft from the subject. Placing this 10ft from a subject, you'd be shooting at some darn high ISO's to get a shutter speed above 1/6oth

Q: 8. How long will the batteries power a light at full power?

A: I did several tests after receiving these lights. The first test was two batteries at 100 percent power and the kelvin at its mid point. (because it uses both color sets of leds that way) and we got around an hour and a half or more. But when doing it at 100 percent brightness and the Calvin all the way down we got well over two hours. Now the real impressive numbers was when we tested 50 percent brightness and we were pushing over 6 and a half hours easily. Hope this helps.

Q: 9. What is the CRI rating of these lights?

A: According to the MFR the CRI is 80.

Q: 10. What is the wattage power at full power on individual unit?

A: Ikan rates these units in LUX rather than watts. At 100% power and 5600 K, the light puts out 2186 LUX at 3 feet from the subject.

[71 W ] Hard not to love this light. Nice and soft. Has decent power for its size, right through the gamut of light temperature. The only drawback is that it's a bit heavy -- might not be ideal for a travel light, and definitely not run and gun shooting.

[Resin (Housing)] My company has gotten excellent use out of this little kit. Weve sent it over-seas multiple times to light interviews for a 13-part documentary. Weve used it locally for interviews as well as fill lighting and commercial lighting. I cant stress enough how great it is to be able to carry all of these lights with a single hand. Definitely recommend it.

[Proprietary] These lights are so incredibly dependable. The light is soft and even, the ability to change brightness and color temperature is incredibly convenient, and after already owning 3 of them I decided it was time to get a 4th. I highly recommend these.

[71 W ] I've been shopping around for lights for quite some time until I stumbled upon the Ikan Rayden LED Panels. They're a terrific high-end/mid-tier option versus the LitePanel Astras which are quite expensive. The Rayden LEDs are plenty bright packed with loads of features I found myself using very often and the build quality is quite good.

The bi-color option makes these lights versatile in any situation. These have become the first lights I bring out for each shoot before our standard Arri Fresnels and Kinos. The remote has been useful for moments when the light is rigged overhead/out of reach and having the option to choose between the v-mount and gold mount plates has been extremely convenient. The included stands in this kit are very well constructed so I can save my c-stands and beefy babies for other uses.
The Lyra LED Panels are Ikan's softlight counterparts to the Raydens. I chose to go with the Raydens to give us some more flexibility in modifying the light. The build in clips on the barn doors have been super useful to attach diffusion and gels.

Overall, I'm very happy with these lights and would gladly recommend them for those that need an affordable, bright, and versatile lighting set-up.

[71 W ] I'm a visual artist who needed a viable lighting solution for photographing my work. This kit nicely fits the bill.
Ordering included the caveat that delivery may take 2-4 weeks. (I appreciated that this was made clear before checkout.) Anticipating an even longer delay because of supply-chain issues during the pandemic, I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived several days before the end of the second week.

[3200 to 5600K] Very compact and easy setup. The case with all three is a bit of a beast. Have to workout more. At first start up, one of the lights flickered when I had both battery and line power connected. I turned unit off and removed the battery and then no flicker. So I replaced the battery and left the line power and so far no further problem with flicker. Must be care on installment of line power connector, if not fully seated, the light will not work.

There is a small flicker when changing the brightness so don't expect to use these if you want to shoot a scene while caring the brightness.

Other than that, they are great. Exactly what I needed.

ie: Love the barn doors and ability to install a diffuser quickly.

[12 lb] I took a pair of these out on a travel documentary project and then a film a few weeks after I wrapped the documentary.

What I liked the most about them was their portability. For a 1' x .5" light it does pack a punch to it. Having the small Sony style batteries that power up the light and having a simple 10% to 100% dial wheel makes it fast to adjust and then quickly being able to adjust from 3200 to 5600k is a click of the wheel too.

When I was on the doc, it was myself, Producer and Director. So setups were small. Using the lights in tight spaces was a must.

Then on the film, I handed them over to my Gaffer and within 5 minutes, no problem, he could easily recognize how they were adjustable.

There is one trade off with these lights, which is common with lots of LED Panels.

If you take this panel over the Ikan light or any same sized light that has a soft "sheet" of diffusion built in, this light has more punch to it, but when you bring it close to a wall or someone's face, you can see the "source." The Astra is the same way, it is just knowing how the fixture works, but something to be aware of, if you know how you are planning to use your lights.

I find myself putting a small piece of diffusion on this light just to make it feel like one LED "source" versus a bunch of little LEDs where I can sometimes see each individual one.

[3200 to 5600K] light weight and cool. This light is very convenient and easy to use without heating the room. I have several that I use for my portable studio. Very light weight and easy to hook up and tear down.

[Proprietary] Purchased to photograph my wife's artwork - flat and 3 dimensional. Mainly to create or eliminate shadows. Not cheap, but way less expensive than heavy duty professional LED lighting kits. Adjustable light intensity and color (Kelvin Temp) was helpful in getting colors in her artwork to pop out without having to fuss with color balance on the digital camera. Remote control handy but only way to control intensity and Kelvin. LEDs can be adjusted independently or as one. Umbrella reflectors/diffusers are a little on the small side but do the job for us. Probably would not be good for large studio works. Stands are lightweight but sturdy and not top heavy even when fully extended with light fixture and umbrella. Used for one photo session so far. Will see how well they hold up.
