The 29.5 x 29.5" FotodioX Pro Studio Boom Sun Scrim Kit 29.5x29.5"from FotodioX Pro Studio Boom Sun Scrim Kit 29.5x29.5"offers a wide variety of creative options. The kit includes a hinged aluminum frame, 2-stop diffusion panel, silver/white reversible panel, handheld boom arm, stand/boom frame clip and a nylon carrying case. The frame is fabricated from tough aluminum to resist cracking, peeling, and impact damage. The white side of the silver/white panel provides neutral fill light while the silver side provides high contrast reflectance with specular highlights. The 2-stop diffusion material lets you use the frame as a softbox with a light source behind it. It's also a valuable tool held overhead with the boom arm to reduce contrast and tame the harshness of the sun.

First of all, the telescoping boom might be good for...something, but it ain't turning this thing into a flyswatter. I also completely agree with other reviewers regarding the method of attachment. As long as you mount it using a grip head (way more versatile for moving it anyway) it's a SOLID connection in calm-moderate wind. I ditched the boom pole almost immediately, which sheds a lot of weight. The frame itself seems solidly built. It's been a lifesaver in a variety of environments, not just diff and fill on exterior shoots. 5

[5.8 lb] This is professional gear that will stand up to the wear and tear of local travel. If you're packing for a plane trip I'd think about buying a more robust case - the one that comes with it is only OK for the back of your car. It's back with black which is nice. 6x6 is the minimum size in my opinion. It's good for indoor single portrait or interview with a normal to long lens. 5

[5.8 lb] after wearing out my sun swatter for the past 4 years it was time for a replacement screen. My frame is in good shape but the material had seen better days. Now my sun swatted is like new with a clean sturdy new screen. 2/3 diffusion greatly softens sunlight and I also use in daily in the studio for soft- even lighting on product and food photography. 5

I wish it came with another stop level of diffusion as well, but for the price, this is fine. I use it for video, and it is great for close up shots, but know that moving shots or medium shots will be a challenge with this size. 5
