Q: 10. Whats the minimum range this extension can reach? In other words, how macro? For say the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM with a minimum range of 0.45 m (17.72?) ???

A: The answer is not that simple. What you really want to know is the magnification achieved with the extension tube. With a 50mm lens you will get to about 1:4, aka 1/4 life size. I use this extender with a 55-250mm zoom for flexibility. Go to fredmiranda dot com slash forum and check out the macro forum for detailed info.

[Sony E] A nice solidly built extension tube for the EOS R / RF camera system. All metal construction with a good fit to the camera body and lens. The only slight issue I can see that you don't get that measuring click when the lens locks onto the tube, as you do when it locks onto the camera. It does lock on and you can't remove the lens without using the release catch, but, I suspect that the locking pin isn't quite aligned perfectly and so only partially attaching.

On the camera the tube does a good job of providing extra magnification as you would expect from something this solidly built. On my Canon RF 35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM it takes the maximum magnification from 0.5x to 0.93x. The combination always seems to be able to focus and the magnification gain is pretty impressive.

I did see a review that said you got a wooden storage box with the extender but this didn't turn out to be the case. Which is fine as I thought it was a little over the top.

It would have been nice to have a front and rear cap set included but it doesn't come with any. A standard set of Canon RF rear cap and EOS R body caps do the job acceptably but are about 1mm wider than the extension tube.

[Sony E] Purchased for my partners Zfc Nikon. She went out and practiced all Saturday afternoon - and the results, with a little practice are great. Solid connection to the camera and lens, no 'wobble' as other brands reviews had mentioned. Purchased the 15mm extension tube at the same time - similar results. She is having a blast.

[Sony E] Nice solid all metal construction. Good lock onto the camera (Canon R5). The lens locks on pretty well but it's just a tad out when clicked into the locked position. It still locks but doesn't click as you would if it was a native lens onto a native body.

[Sony E] This the second time I buy this product. It works very well and do the job. Don't waste your time judging if it is too loose or too tight, it just do the job perfectly. I used it on Sony 85mm F1.8 to photograph flowers and insects. It well maintained autofocus, but the range and the depth of field is limited as expected.

[0.135 lb] A few reviews commented on the construction quality of these. While they are of a lightweight material, I find autofocus works fine on my Olympus OM-D E5Mii with a 75-300 mm lens, and produce great results. If you're a pro doing macro photography for a living, these are not for you. But for casual use I find them more than acceptable given the low price. I'm fully satisfied.

[0.135 lb] I read reviews of other extension tubes and decided on the FotodioX. Other models seemed to have issues with fit, construction, and interface. I've done a trial fit and it seems appropriately snug. It is a hair heavy, but that indicates good construction. The autofocus and exposure interfaces seem to be working just fine.
