If did want to try using a stereo 3.5mm Y-cable, you would need to use two XLR adapters (one for each input) like the Rode VXLR+ (B&H # ROVXLRP) which has a built-in power converter that converts phantom power to plug-in power. A: The LM100 is an impedance matching cable, low to high, while the other is not. If you are connecting to a line level input you will need the impedance matching cable, if you are connecting to a mic level input you will use the less expensive XLR to TRS cable.
