The 1.5' XRSM 3-Pin XLR Female to 3.5mm RA Stereo Mini-Plug from Kopul is a studio-quality cable that can be used for converting a mono-microphone or a line-level signal to a 3.5mm stereo signal for devices such as camcorders, DSLR cameras, recorders, and more. It can be utilized with dynamic mics and self-powered XLR condenser microphones.

The XRSM cable is engineered to provide protection against EMI, RFI, and static noise, offering a gold-plated 3.5mm (1/8") right-angle stereo mini-plug connector with molded strain relief, as well as a 3-pin XLR-F connector with a chuck-style strain relief by REAN. The XRSM cable is built with 24-gauge OFC (oxygen-free copper) conductors, spiral shielding, and has PE insulation, which produces a quiet cable with good conductivity ensuring a clean transfer of the audio signals.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, will this work with the Sony Utx-b40 transmitter? I'm looking to get a line out from a sound desk wirelessly. Cheers, Colm

A: Yes, the Sony EC-1.5BX 3.5mm Locking Mini-Plug to Female XLR Cable (4.9') is fully compatible with the Sony UTX-B40 Wireless Bodypack Transmitter .

Q: 2. can I use this with the URX-P03 model?

A: This cable will connect to the Sony URX-P03 receiver, or any Sony receiver with a 3.5mm locking connector.

Q: 3. Would this work with my mm-bsm-8 binaural headphones and MixPre-3 II to enable use of the kashmir XLR preamps instead of the aux-in one?

A: No, the ALZO adapter will not work because the MM-BSM-8 binaural headphones require 1.5 to 10 VDC plug-in power and the XLR inputs on the MixPre-3 II can supply 48V phantom power which is way more than needed and will likely damage the mic. The mic is designed to be used with the 3.5mm stereo plug. We have not tested it with adapters to confirm whether there will be issues with phasing and/or noise created by using a Y-type adapter, but it is very possible that could happen. If did want to try using a stereo 3.5mm Y-cable, you would need to use two XLR adapters (one for each input) like the Rode VXLR+ (B&H # ROVXLRP) which has a built-in power converter that converts phantom power to plug-in power. For the Y-adapter, you can try the Hosa Technology Stereo 3.5mm Female to Dual Mono 3.5mm Male Airline Adapter (B&H #HOYCSMF2MMRA) which splits stereo to two individual mono outputs. Again, I do want to mention that we have not tested this setup to confirm whether it will work properly or if it will sound good. We recommend connecting the mic to a 3.5mm TRS input for the proper stereo imaging it was designed to create.

Q: 4. Is this really a transformer, or a simple adapter. If a transformer, what is the ratio?

A: It is a transformer designed to work with DSLRs and consumer grade camcorders. The impedance match specs are not available.

Q: 5. Can I use this:Kopul LMT100 - Low to High Impedance Matching Transformer (1.5') to hook a microphone up to use with my iPhone6?

A: Although both the Kopul cable and iPhone both have 3.5mm jacks, these are not compatible. To connect a mic to an iPhone to a mic that has an XLR jack, you will need the LMT-100 and an additional adapter to connect to an iPhone such as the Mymyk connector cable. In addition the mic you connect must be dynamic, or battery powered. The phone will not provide any power to the mic.

Q: 6. Can someone confirm that this cable splits the right channel and the left channel? I'm thinking it might go well with the Deity Microphone V-Mic D4 duo on and ENG type camera such as the Sony FS5.

A: Yes. This cable will split the left and right on the 3.5mm to seperate male XLR conectors.

Q: 7. What is the difference between this cable and the cheaper Kopul XRSM-015B? I plan on connecting NTG2 (battery-powered) to my DSLR or PC. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1221867-REG/kopul_xrsm_015b_xrsm_3_pin_xlr_female.html/specs

A: The LM100 is an impedance matching cable, low to high, while the other is not. If you are connecting to a line level input you will need the impedance matching cable, if you are connecting to a mic level input you will use the less expensive XLR to TRS cable.

Q: 8. How long is the cable? Can it be used to replace the short XLR cable of the Sony UWP D series receiver for signal into the XLR on the recorder?

A: The Sony EC-1.5BX 3-pole Locking Mini-Plug to XLR Cable (Female) is 1.5 feet long (0.46 meters). This cable has a female XLR connector. The one you will need for sending the output from the wireless receiver to an XLR input on the recorder is the Sony EC-0.46BX 3-pole Locking Mini-Plug to XLR Cable (Male), which is B&H # SOEC0.46BX, and it is also 1.5 feet long (0.46 meters).

Q: 9. Hi, Does this adapter come with the clip that goes around the middle? I don't see it on the pics...

A: From what I see on Rode's site, this does not come with any belt clip. For an adapter that does, I would recommend the Deity #DEDXLR, which also does the same job.

Q: 10. Would it work for SmartLav+ to Zoom H6 XLR inputs?

A: Yes it will but you will need to get an adapter for your SmartLav as the connector on the SmartLav is a TRRS. In order for you to use the XLR Power Converter you will need an adapter to change the lav connector from TRRS to TRS. This is the B&H part number for the adapter B&H#ROSC3. Once your TRRS becomes a TRS them you can use the XLR power converter with the H6.

[Yes] I wanted to be able to use the shotgun mic with the Rode wireless GO and I needed this conversion. It is easy to use, fits in the same case as the go system, and work well. I do not hear any additional noise that might be caused by the cable and i am very pleased. I use this on a boom arm to capture sound during interviews.

[0.2 lb] I use a Zoom H1-n as a back-up recorder taped to a PA system for live events, but having one of these cables handy allows me to use it for a whole variety of other uses.

[Black] I have a Sennheiser shotgun mike - and then I acquired a Sennheiser camera mount to a cold shoe0 with built-in stabilizer. Yes, it's a very long microphone for a camera - but with a SmallRig cage, it actually is pretty cool. The only thing missing was this cable. Now that I have it - I have a microphone that is much better than the usual camera mounted options and still useable in a run and gun situation.
