This manual adapter does not maintain automatic lens control between the camera and lens; aperture priority or manual shooting modes should be used, as well as stop-down metering for exposure control. Additionally, due to the smaller image circle of Micro Four Thirds lenses, vignetting will likely occur on both APS-C and full-frame format sensors.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this adapter allow me to put my HELIOS 44m-4 2/58mm on my BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K?

A: I am showing that the Helios lens you listed has an M42 mount, which the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K has an MFT mount. This should allow you to put that lens on the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

Q: 2. Does anyone actually use this adopter on either the BMPCC4K or the original BMPCC cameras? I tried on both and the adopter does not fit/mount.

A: I tested FotodioX Mount Adapter for Canon EOS Lens to Micro Four Thirds Camera on the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and a rokinon EF lens. The adaptor connected with the camera mount and the lens without inconveniences. The camera mount for the original Black Magic Pocket Camera is the same. If you are matching the red dots and your adapter is not connecting to your camera this unit may be detective.

Q: 3. Following up on my last Q. I believe all Olympus (and Panasonic?) AF lenses are "focus by wire". Is it physically possible to manually focus such lenses when mounted on this adapter? I would think not. If not, there are very few MFT lenses that can be used with this adapter. Correct?

A: If the Micro Four Third mount lens you use uses focus-by-wire, I do not believe it would allow you to focus the lens using the FotodioX Lens Mount Adapter listed above as I believe electronic communication is required for adjusting focus-by-wire lenses. However, if you have a full manual-focus lens or if your lens uses mechanical coupling for focus purposes, then those should offer compatibility with the above lens mount adapter.

Q: 4. If a 25mm MFT lens (50mm FF equiv) is adopted to E mount, is the field of view or effective focal length changed?

A: The focal length of a lens never changes. The "equivalency" to 35mm is dependent on the camera being used. Therefore a 25mm MFT lens adapted to a Sony full frame camera would be the same as using a native Sony mount lens that has a 25mm focal length. But also due to the smaller image circle of Micro Four Thirds lenses, vignetting will likely occur on both APS-C and full-frame format sensors when using this adapter.

Q: 5. Will work with a Sony a7r?

A: It works with the a7rII.

Q: 6. Will this work with a Black Magic Pocket Cinema 4k camera?

A: Yes this adapter can work with the BlackMagic Pocket Cinema 4K Camera.

Q: 7. Will this adapter work to mount a L39 lens (such as an old Leica LTM lens to my Olympus OMD M1Mk2? Or will it place lens too close to sensor?

A: This adapter is made specifically for use with L39 lenses to MFT cameras. It will not be too close to the sensor and will focus properly.

Q: 8. If I use this with a bmpcc 4k, which has focus assist, would I work with this adapter?

A: Yes, this adapter would be compatible with a Micro 4/3 mount camera that has focus assist such as the BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

Q: 9. Does this also fit E mount lens or A only?

A: This adapter is for A mount only.

Q: 10. Will this work with the BMPCC4k?

A: Yes, this should work fine with the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

[Sony E] I purchased this adapter to use my old 16mm C-Mount lenses on my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. The adapter itself is rather simple but that's all you need for C-Mount lenses. The construction is solid, the threading is smooth and the adapter fits tightly on my camera without any wiggle.

[Sony E] The flange focal distance difference between MFT and Emount is ridiculously small, making an adapter very had to make. This adapter is not perfect, but kudos to FotodioX for even trying.

On my adapter, the lens was held loosely, but this can be fixed rather easily. On the inside of the mount, there is a springy area created by a thin slot in the tabs that hold the lens in. You an insert a small flat head screwdriver and slightly bend out the spring tab that will create a tighter fit with the lens.

If the flange could be thicker i'm sure they would have done it differently, but given the physical limitations this is a great adapter.

[0.085 lb] The M-42 thread is not directly machined into the barrel. It is a seperate piece, so I was able to remove it, then remove the pin-depresser-ring, and then reinstall the M-42 piece (plus a shim).

This means I can deploy this item either with or without the pin depresser. (If this means nothing to you, then buy the cheaper version.)

[Sony E] To all those who want to continue using their Nikon lenses, this frame is the option and the price is affordable.

[Sony E] It works perfectly on my Sony a6400 camera body and my Rokinon 35mm T1.4 MFT lens which I did believe I was gonna see an adaptor for it.
The shipping was great and I have made like 4 purchase with B&H and their very reliable. I personally prefer B&H over Amazon any time of the day.

[Sony E] My daughter had a large selection of Nikon 35 mm lenses and there were a couple I thought I could make use of this. This inexpensive converter allows me to use her manual lenses without a lot of fuss.

[0.085 lb] I shoot video mostly 720p & 1080p and I have several older C Mount Lenses. This adapter is great for putting them on my Z Cam E1 with a Micro 4/3 mount. The majority of my C Mount Lenses only cover a 2/3" sensor so the results on Micro 4/3 video are a cropped circle, top and bottom are OK, but left and right do show the circle.

I'm able to fix that in post by zooming into the area of the circle, so this is no big deal, BUT consider that in most cases you'll need to fix this in camera with a digital zoom or in post. To avoid loss of sharpness, I shoot one step higher in resolution when I'm going to crop in post. A few of the C Mount Lenses do fill the frame and there's no need for cropping.
