A: I have the D500 and Sigma 18-35. Both are top notch in my opinion. The focus speed and accuracy of the D500 is far better than any of the other Nikon bodies that I have used. The Sigma 18-35 is very sharp and has a solid build. My main interest with the D500 is for bird photography using a Sigma 150-600. My wife also has a D500 with Nikon 80-400 also for bird photography. I have photographed flowers with the D500. In live view, the screen responds to touch for focusing. Thus you can touch the screen where you want to focus on the flower and it does it very accurately. I have never owned a FX camera so cannot comment on that.

A: You have to use one XQD card. A second SD card cannot be used in the slot. The XQD cards are a bit expensive now, but the price will come down. They can gain you a lot of buffer speed if you shoot continuosly at a high fps. I use the XQD card for fast planes at air shows. It is amazing how many images can be taken simultaneously at 10 fps.

A: The D500 includes dual card slots, which includes one XQD and one SD card slot. You may use one of each in the camera, but you cannot use two XQD cards in the camera simultaneously as there is only one XQD memory card slot in the camera.
