What I appreciate most is how versatile it is. It supports up to 1080p60, so I’m getting crisp, broadcast-quality video every time. Plus, the SDI loop output is a fantastic bonus, letting me retain the option to still send out the signal SDI and not only HDMI. The power options are also a nice plus. If I’m somewhere with an AC outlet, it comes with an adapter. Or I can run it off my computer’s USB port, or any other device with a 5V USB output It’s nice to have that flexibility, especially on location. And speaking of locations, the compact and durable metal design makes it super portable. I can toss it in my gear bag without worrying about it getting banged up. And I love that it has a little blue light to let you know it is receiving power and is on. That is good information to have, especially when on location.

For anyone dealing with both SDI and HDMI setups and gear, this little converter is a must-have. It’s reliable, compact, and makes switching between SDI and HDMI workflows a breeze. [0.3 lb / 0.2 kg] I use seven of these to convert my IMAG production switcher HD/SDI output to HDMI/DVI input on projectors 550 feet away. The L.E.D. indicators are great for fast troubleshooting and signal confirmation. The dual re-clocked & EQ'ed SDI outputs make cascading the HD/SDI signal easy. Since it automatically adapts to the SDI input signal, I can switch between SD & HD formats seamlessly. I haven't needed to use the 3G SDI format yet but it's good to know it can handle that too.

The key is the scanner/scaler and not just a media converter. Just wish the Syner-G tool could be run on a Mac which our studio is predominately composed of.

[1.405 lb] I purchased this product to record HD news coverage of events pertaining to my work so I could include the coverage in various video programs. I connected the converter to a cable box and and a DVCPro-HD deck. It works beautifully! Both video and audio are indistinguishable from the original signal coming from the cable box.

[0.3 lb / 0.2 kg] We are using it to convert from a VGA adaptor / DA to a Black Magic Design switcher for webcast. Used the builtin menu to configure - Black Magic switcher would not show output till we used a separate monitor with variable inputs.
